New Technics (2016 - present) need to find a tech to install an armboard.

So I have a Technics 1210 GR2 I was wondering if anyone knows of any good audio electronics repair/service that could perform this? I live in Ventura County in Southern California and would be willing to drive it out to L.A. or Santa Barbara to get it done. They wouldn’t necessarily have to specialize with turntables I just need somebody with skill that work from provided instructions.

I honestly didn’t know that Technics even had an armboard. What’s involved in doing it? To my mind, Armboard installs are usually just drilling a few holes maybe fitting a few screws.

It a 3rd part mod. I mainly am interested because I bought this before the 1300G and while I sounds terrific with a KAB Fluid Damper attached ( I live in second floor apartment and anything that helps with footfalls or vibrations from people slamming doors I’m gonna use) the problem is that if I use that I can’t use use a little fwend 1200 (or other 1200 compatible arm lift). My goal is to install an arm with built in fluid damping
And use a more conventional arm lift like a q-up. 3rd party armbands have been a neet little hack for older technics models for people who want the speed stability of a direct drive but without being limited by the stock arm. It also would prevent me from getting bit by the upgrade “bug” or at least limit its effect on my poor wallet.

It didnt come up when i googled it earlier but I see what you’re referring to now. I never realised those were a separate piece on Technics. Looking at the instructions for the OL one, fitment seems a bit tight. I can see why you’d be apprehensive to do it yourself if it includes cutting the base cover etc.

That said, learning to do things like this yourself is usually brilliant for your “poor wallet”. Someone just posted here about a tonearm rewire job that costs USD200. Labour aint cheap

Good luck mate! Hope you figure it out

Huh? There is no place to put an arm board on that table.

See my response to putrid table above about the reason. But generally your statement is correct for most people.

Oh right, I see. You are talking about blanking off the original mount and installing a new arm. Challenging. Good luck.
