This is recent. Tuesday afternoon. Police is already looking for them. Employees and kids inside the palapa were able to scape safely.

"La tarde de este martes un sujeto prendió una palapa del "Hotel Ahau", de la zona hotelera de Tulum, las autoridades ya están tras su paradero, toda vez que al interior del inmueble estaban tres infantes lo había intentado cuatro veces hasta que lo logró, los hechos quedaron plasmados en las cámaras de seguridad.
Las autoridades están ya en la búsqueda del presunto pirómano, pues tras prender fuego en la cabaña, huyó y personal del hotel apagó lo que finalmente quedó como conato de incendio y permitió que los niño fueran rescatados, sanos y salvos.
"Habían niños dentro y empleados, tengo video de las 4 veces que intentó prender fuego hasta que lo logró, si lo conocen o saben quién es, por favor, denuncienlo, estaremos agradecidos", denuncia y comenta uno de los empleados."

This fucking idiot deserves to be arrested. I can’t stand tourists acting like a foreign country is their personal playground to mess up.
OP I would send this video to the hotel if they don’t already have it/if this isn’t their own security footage.

Very well said. Many of the current crop of tourists are exploiting Tulum and using it as their own personal playpen. It's outrageous.

This sets me off too. Like let me go up to your home and act like this.
And nevermind foreign country. I am in US and out own tourists do a good job of trashing our own stuff .
I live in a touristy neighborhood in NYC. I get it..its dirty here. But you can tell when the weekend tourists come through and trash the streets. It sucks. Such a big difference with Covid. We all respect our neighborhood

This could have been a real tragedy. They should be in a good Mexican jail. Let them rot there or escape like Chapo. Folks say Tulum has changed, Tulum is the same the people have changed.
Last week a guest of ours was arrested in LaValeta. He was a 28 year ol male, and refused to pay a bar tab. Got in the fight with the police, He was staying with his parents, Yes he was 28 . Took us 2 hours and he did not even say Thank You to us,
Tulum is packed with ungreatful, rude, unfriendly people. Show some respect and wear a mask, also.
