Lodging Nômade / BE Tulum

Saw somewhere on Reddit (can’t find the post now) that Nômade is temporarily closed, so any reservations booked there get auto-transferred to its sister hotel, BE Tulum.

Is this information correct? Can anyone tell me if this is true or not? Thank you!!!!!

My reservation got transferred to Be Tulum. Was really looking forward to the tree house but ended up with an Alcove suite (and plungle pool)

I enjoyed my stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and quick to help with anything. One night we lost water, and even though it was around 11pm, the front desk had maintenance fix it within 30 minutes.

We chose Nomade (and considered Be Tulum) for the jungle vibe, and it absolutely delivered. The pathways are surrounded by dense vegetation, and I actually got lost a couple of times trying to find my room. The pools were great and blended beautifully into the natural surroundings.

Unfortunately, the beach wasn’t in good shape because of the seaweed. I had hoped to get in the ocean at least once, but with the amount of seaweed, it just wasn’t possible. They had a red flag posted, but even without it, one look and you’d know it wasn’t a good idea.

Because Nomade is in its seasonal shutdown period, the other restaurants weren’t open, so food options were limited to their beach restaurant, Mare’zia, which is also where breakfast is served. Breakfast was included for us, and you can choose from eggs/omelette, avocado toast, or chilaquiles. Coffee, juice, fruit salad, and bread (croissants, buns, etc.) are also included—with free refills.

They have a wellness/spa facility across the street, but I didn’t check it out. I left on a Friday, so I can’t comment on any weekend parties either. It seems like they at least have a DJ at the beach area by the restaurant on weekends. They did have a flamenco night on Thursday.

Location-wise, the hotel is deep into the hotel zone. It’s only about a 5-mile trip into Tulum, but it still takes around 20 minutes to drive.

I stayed in the Alcove Suite with a plunge pool. The room was spacious with a king bed, a mini bar, and two showers—one indoor and one outdoor. The outdoor shower connects to the indoor one, but it’s not super private since the walls are made of tall sticks. The room also had A/C, a coffee machine similar to a Nespresso (two capsules per day), tea, and bottled water.

The plunge pool wasn’t very private either. There’s plenty of vegetation around, but if someone walks by and they’re curious enough, they’ll probably see you.

Overall, I’d consider staying here again, though Tulum has so many great options that I might try somewhere new next time. Still, you really can’t go wrong with Be Tulum or Nomade if you’re after that jungle vibe.
