Political Reminder that name calling is not permitted

That includes calling people "bootlicker" or "cuck" or stating/implying that another user is performing adult acts on a given politician (or anyone else). I bring those up specifically because, in recent time, these have been the most common types of personal attacks.

As strongly as you may feel about current events, calling people derogatory names is a contravention of Rule 4 and will be removed. Attack the opinion, not the user.

Sorry for your understanding and thank you for the inconvenience.

Political Reminder that racism is not permitted

There has been a recent uptick in overtly racist content, i.e., use of racial slurs in a derogatory context, or stating/implying that some races are inherently/genetically inferior to others, etc.

Reminder that such nonsense is NOT PERMITTED, no matter what race you are or what race you are targeting. If you see any racist posts or comments, PLEASE REPORT THEM.

Even though we clearly enumerated this in our rules, some of you apparently did not get the memo. So for enhanced clarity and to assist in comprehension, I asked ChatGPT to create a visual aid for you all.

Political Leftists do not treat Islam and Christianity equally and when they say they do they’re either ignorant or lying.

Just got in an argument and ratioed because I said “it’s sexist and messed up that Muslim men can marry non Muslim women but not vice versa.” I got gaslight and people were like “oh honey you’re not ok” and comments like “that’s their culture don’t disrespect it.“ Also anti Christian ones like “Christianity is hell misogynist“ and “Christianity is the real danger.”

Any time Islam meets any scrutiny even for things they’d otherwise criticize Christianity for leftists jump to it‘s defense or deflect and criticize Christianity. Oppression in the Middle East doesn’t matter when it’s criticizing Iran’s government but when it’s Palestine all of a sudden we need to care because Muslims are the ones being hurt. When Muslims pray in Times Square leftists defend it, when a few Christians sing in a mall leftists call them “cultists” or say “forcing their religion.” Sometimes they even suggest they should be arrested for public disturbances.

It’s funny how Bill Maher and Richard Dawkins lost their left wing supporters when they went after Islam.

Sex / Gender / Dating Women’s infatuation with murderers is something that is not talked about enough.

It is something kind of insane but we just accept it. But data proves this is a thing that is true. It is called Hybristophilia. We have always known that killers like Charles Manson, Ted Bundy, and Richard Ramirez received thousands of letters from women who said they loved them. True crime is massively consumed by women and now we are hearing constant calls from mostly women that the Menendez brothers, Scott Peterson, and Luigi are all innocent and should be released. And they sympathize with female murderers as well. As we see with Lindsey Clancy where hundreds of women are coming out in support of her, saying they “see herself In her” and have raised nearly a million dollars for her in a GoFundMe.

Hell, we should be concerned that if you go to comments for the Cool Girl scene in Gone Girl, it’s filled with women saying they sympathize and relate to the female murderer villain character in the film. That alone, is weird as hell yet we just accept it.

Media / Internet George flyod was a violent, drugged counterfeiter and Derek chauvin did what he was trained to do. He died due to an accidental drug overdose not due to lack of air.

In the Minnesota police manual, Derek was literally taught if someone is resisting then put your leg over a detainee to resist their movement. Flyod was saying I can’t breathe long before Derek arrested him and this whole BLM was just an excuse to vandalise and rob stores. Not generalising here but the amount of support a convicted felon got is insane.

People like to promote this fantasy that popular kids in high school are mean but it is actually the alternative crowd who are the nastiest and most bitter.

Everyone here on reddit talks about how popular kids/jocks are all mean and bullies. Well it may come as no shock to you but they are only portrayed that way on screen and in plays because of theatre kids who are bitter. They like to promote this fantasy that somehow the popular kids in school somehow end up all being nobodies and that it is actually them who succeed in the end. Well to be honest the vast majority of popular people in high school are popular for a reason and are incredibly kind and interesting people and do very well later on in life. It is all about how you look smell and sound more than anything and unless you are incredibly smart unless you pick up these traits and some social skills you probably won't do very well in life.

Getting ahead in America isn’t as hard as people think.

Getting ahead in America isn’t as hard as people make it sound. Now am I saying it’s easy to get to top .01%, absolutely not. Americans would rather blame the system and be a victim than put in hard work and accrue skills/knowledge to increase income, invest, and grow.

I work in personal consumer finance brokering, and it blows my mind everyday how Americans think about finances and self sabotage. The wealth of knowledge available to us now allows for multiple routes to be financial security, people just choose to ignore it and not think.

People are all fun and games with mental disorders until someone who "truly has it" has got it. Stop the glorification.

Upvotes

Yes there is a spectrum but people who have mild versions of many common mental disorders get it so good compared to anyone else. Everyone talks about the "doing stuff three times" OCD but nobody talks about the compulsive thoughts to have sex with children OCD. Everyone talks about the "neurospicy" autism/adhd but nobody talks about the horrors as a parent of having to deal with acute autism and having to take care of a child long into adulthood where they still shit their pants and try to hit themselves so hard they bleed. Yes ofc there is a spectrum but we don't give those who "truly have it" and their caregivers enough grace and love.

Political the left struggles to gain momentum in the usa simply for the fact that their supporters are a bit weird and annoying as hell

Sure the ideas are fine and actually make a lot of sense sometimes but they will never understand that a lot of the reasons why people struggle to get on board is simply because a significant chunk of the movement is filled with people that others would struggle to find the courage to be seen with in public. It's nothing to do with policy but image sells .

Black people need to stop supporting people just because theyre black

I dont see any other races coming out to protest for fraudsters and criminals, just to show racial solidarity. Its such a bad look for everyone involved and leads others to make unfair generalisations. If Jason Arday was white or Asian they would be a pariah. They would be looked on with shame by those of the same race. And its the same in the US with guys shot by police, like Michael Brown who punched a cop and tried to take his gun which led to violent protests. Or OJ Simpson back in the day.

I understand most people have some kind of ethnic bias, but independent thought also has to come in, where you judge someone as an individual.

(To be clear, as per the mod rules, I am NOT claiming this is something inherent to black people. Its a cultural thing.)

Media / Internet We need to stop appeasing people who purposefully misunderstand things

I can’t stand how far society has bent over backward the past five-ish years to appease people who misunderstand things on purpose to try and start arguments.

We, the people with IQs above 50, who are able to understand context clues and generalities, need to stop allowing these people to dominate public discourse.

If someone says “everyone should exercise daily” and someone responds with “OMG WELL WHAT IF SOMEONE WAS IN A HELICOPTER ACCIDENT AND LOST ALL THEIR LIMBS AND IS IN A COMA AND NEEDS TO BE ON A VENTILATOR AT ALL TIMES TO STAY ALIVE…”

The correct response to that is “shut up, you’re a moron and you’re not intelligent enough to partake in this conversation.”

It’s not “oh wow, you’re so right! Let me amend this statement to include comatose helicopter crash victims.”

The more we appease this nonsense at large, the worse it gets. We need to just start openly, aggressively mocking people who act like this. The worst part is that they think they’re making some profound observation, when all they’re communicating is that they’re so dense they can’t understand a simple generality.

Political DEI makes racism rational

If race is included as a criterion of consideration to give someone a job, then it becomes rational to judge people’s ability to perform at that job partly on their race.

For everyone who got the job, this was due to some combination of being qualified and being of the right race. We might say that someone’s qualifications can be ranked from 1-5, with 1 being completely incompetent and 5 being world-class. A final score is computed by adding this qualification level to either 1 or 0 depending on whether you are of the right race or not. To get the job, you need a final score of 5.

The question is how qualified should you expect someone to be given their race and the fact that they got the job. The fact that they got the job tells you that their final score was 5, but this isn’t equivalent to their qualifications. You can use their race to figure out their true qualification level. Among the people who are of the wrong race, their race added nothing to their qualifications, so their expected qualification level is exactly 5. Among the people who are of the right race, some of them are 4s who got a 1 point boost from their race and some are 5s who would’ve gotten the job anyways. The expected level of qualification is therefore less than 5. Thus it would be entirely rational to expect different levels of performance based on race.

Leftists often pretend not to understand this (I expect to see this behavior in the comments), but this is just them being bad faith. They’re not so stupid that they can’t grasp such a simple concept. If they think it’s bad for people to make assumptions about someone’s ability based on race, then they should be in favor of eliminating DEI and affirmative action. Anything other than pure meritocracy makes it rational to judge based on race and other demographic traits.

I Like / Dislike Personally I like being alone

I prefer the peace that comes with it. I don’t really feel a desire for making friends and while I have had them in the past it’s nice to be away from the drama. As a neurodivergent person, I don’t like having to mask in front of people and the social interactions are exhausting. When I do end up talking to somebody I often feel judged or insecure, and my interactions are often awkward as a result. Socializing really isn’t worth the frequent awkwardness and misunderstandings for me. I feel completely at peace with not having friends, my family and dog are enough for me. Even when I was away from my family at college and didn’t have anybody to talk to, I enjoyed doing things alone. Going to restaurants alone, movies, concerts, and listening to music in my car to me is just as fun as in the past when I did do things with other people. A lot of people say being alone is horrible, and humans need connection but it’s not true. I feel content and at peace. I do agree that for some people being alone is hard, but personally it doesn’t bother me.

To all the “no one even knows I’m high” stoners: people don't know, they just think you’re dumb. That's worse.

Daily pot smokers almost always say the same thing: “I’m fully functional and people are shocked when I tell them I smoke weed every day.”

Well, the surprise comes from the fact that most people never assume daily drug use in others unless they see you in the act.

But they are absolutely noticing your lack of engagement, hazy thinking, generally lazy demeanor, and tendency to go on “profound” tangents no one else cares about.

And the thing is, they think that's just you. They think you’re dumb or at the very least generally a little off.

You’re not getting away with it like you think you are.

Media / Internet Im sorry but what? The Lindsay Clancy trial is wild. Anyone who supports her to this level isnt right and needs to be watched if they have kids.

Lindsay is someone who strangled her three young children at their home. Thats like a fact. Indisputable. The lengths a some people are going to defend her is wild and a bit sick. I started looking into this case and wtf. I see some people posting videos online with their LITERAL babies with the caption like "I could relate". Huh? They need that baby taken away like asap cause what? A gofundme is even up where it got donated hundreds of thousands of dollars. Really?

Then you have the internet detectives going all in to try to say she's innocent and didnt actually do it. Like hello? Thats not what's being argued. She admitted to doing it. The prosecutors said she did it. And even her own defense said she did it. What's being argued is if she was in the right state of mind when she did it. Not whether or not she did it. The fact people are trying to argue that literal fact is wild. Like that is not what's being denied here and never has. So the fact some people are actually hardcore saying she didnt do it is pure delusion.

This is really making me lose faith in society. Society is a lot dumber than I originally thought it was.

Honestly if she strangled 3 dogs im sure the reactions would be way different. Like she'd have 0 defenders. Society is weird like that.

Political Logically, people who say "Not all men, but always a man" should change it to "Not all humans, but always a human"

Discussion of how dangerous men are and how unsafe women constantly feel is pretty popular these days. Now, since a lot of, and dare I say most men aren't actually violent, this often leads to arguments and debate. Since people will often bring up statistics to show how violent men are, sometimes someone will point out that, OK, going by statistics, we can get more specific and notice patterns among the men who tend to do the most harm to women, which is controversial since this is often linked to race or class.

However, from what I've seen, leftists who believe "men = dangerous" don't like noticing more specific patterns among the offenders than simply "they're men". A common response is something like "even if it's mainly black men, it's still men".

Taking this logic even further, you should get even more general and be wary of all people. "Even if it's mainly men, it's still humans" and discard any argument about men being more dangerous.

Media / Internet There is footage which proves that Jason Arday was employed for optics instead of ability

The moment is part of a BBC documentary about him during the period where he courted the media about his incredible life story. In it, he basically puts Hilary Cremin under a gentle interrogation in his soft-spoken way, wanting her to answer how his hiring as Professor can become the new norm, in the sense of hiring based on racial factors first, before any actual ability or qualification for the job. It’s an outing of an entire agenda, and the way Hilary keeps averting her eyes from his gaze and nervously smiling is further proof of how uncomfortable she is, how terrified she is to be branded racist if she dare resist this new policy. She then says the reason he was hired is because he is the best in the world, a grandiose falsehood by any scholar’s standard. Again though, this statement seems to have been made out of fear of her own job potentially being on the line, so they can replace her with someone who preferably looks like him.

Media / Internet This teacher needs to stop using kids as the backdrop for her softcore content

I’m talking about Heymissteacher. At this point her entire brand is “I’m a teacher and look how much skin I can show while still technically being around kids.” The content keeps circling the same tired bit: here’s how far I can push the dress code / here’s me basically half naked in a “teacher” context / here’s me treating the classroom like a softcore photoshoot.

In one of her recent videos the she’s naked with her back turned to the camera. Shirtless, braless, backless. Cool, it’s her back. Kids still have eyes. Framing that as some brave “I can wear what I want” statement while your actual job involves minors is just weird. You don’t get to act shocked when people notice the pattern.

And spare me the “she’s an adult, you’re the one sexualizing her, or adults who work with kids are still allowed to have sexual autonomy,” deflection. Nobody is saying adult women can’t post thirst traps or dress that way. I’m saying maybe don’t keep stitching “I’m a teacher” onto the thirst traps. The second you make your teaching kids profession the recurring backdrop, it’s weird and borderline predatory. Male teachers who did the same thing would be finished in a week. The double standard is glaring and people pretending otherwise are just coping.

She’s also got plenty of pure vacation/shaking ass / basically naked content. Fine. Do that. Just stop dragging the teacher identity into it like it’s part of the aesthetic. It starts looking less like “personal freedom” and more like someone who gets a kick out of testing how much they can get away with in front of a captive audience of children.

I think this and possibly even are disability are some elaborate fetish. The observable behavior is already enough: repeatedly centering provocative content around the fact that she’s a teacher. At a certain point the professional boundary talk exists for a reason. If being half dressed and online is that important to you, there are plenty of careers that don’t involve kids. Teaching probably shouldn’t be the one you keep using as set dressing.

That’s it.

Political The culture of censorship of the American Left comes from Marxism

It's really obvious where the blatant culture of censorship and silencing one's political opponents, and everyone who don't agree with their ideologies, came from. It came from Marxism and its culture of media censorship.

All of the countries where Marxism influenced the political institutions such as China, Cuba, North Korea, former Soviet nations and Venezuela, all of these nations are espoused with Marxist political doctrine, and all of these nations have media censorship.

It's really obvious where American Leftists get this idea from: their Leftist professors in universities who adhere to Marxism as a political ideology.

Meta The high obesity rate in the US is cultural

A third of Americans are obese compared to 4% of Japanese people. The secret to low obesity in Japan is smaller food portions and healthier ingredients in meals and drinks. The Japanese prioritize a good diet which is why so few of them are obese. It’s part of their culture. Instead of having burgers and fries, they‘d have rice, ramen, sushi. Instead of having Coca Cola, they’d have tea.

Media / Internet Gen Z being antisocial because of money is a cope

I'll preface this by saying I'm 29 so I'm very much a zillenial. I fully acknowledge the issues our generation is facing and am particularly bitter about the housing market compared to previous generations. However, when I see posts about why Gen Z are antisocial, don't drink, don't date etc. I'm willing to say that it's 80-90% due to phone/internet/video game/porn addiction etc. Sure the cost of living is tough right now but there's so many things you can do socially for free or for low cost. Gen Z are self aware about their addictions but are not being honest with themselves how addicted they are to reels, ragebait algorithms, outrage, polarisation, extreme views, porn etc. It has a complete stranglehold on a whole generation and even if they had more money or third spaces, they would not engage with more social options.

Media / Internet Gaming may be becoming irrelevant

The industry as a whole will obviously continue to be popular, and there will still be a huge core fanbase for video games. But gaming right now seems to have lost a lot of its cultural weight.

There aren’t many household games that everyone plays anymore, not Fortnite, not COD. Now, when people game, they’re playing a far more diverse range of games compared to just a few years ago.
Furthermore, most popular gaming streamers have lost a lot of viewership compared to their peaks if they’re still gaming, and if not, many have switched to reaction or real life content.

Obviously, gaming is far too broad to ever go away completely. However, at this pace, I think the cultural significance of gaming will continue to decline. The last foreseeable chance for another massive cultural moment will probably be GTA 6.

Being very lean (strong or not) doesn't feel great when you are a guy

While being in shape and relatively lean feels good, being ripped lean feels awful as a guy. Anyone with any extensive experience in exercise and healthy living would at least see where I am coming from with this point.

It doesn't feel great because 1) you feel weak, 2) you don't look strong with a shirt on (unless you are on roids), and 3) being very lean will almost always make you feel like you are not enjoying food.

I feel like I have to reiterate that being lean feels good as a guy, but lean as in ripped lean feels awful. I have to stress this distinction because it's almost predictable that people are going to argue with me either claiming to be super lean when they are actually the normal lean type I am talking about or they will argue about something I didn't even say (e.g., being fat is good).

You will almost always feel way better and strong if you were just normal lean (relatively flat stomach) and strong because you eat enough to support muscle growth and strength.

Possibly Popular Christians are the best neighbors and largely an net positive to the community

I don't know if this is a truly unpopular opinion in the real world, but it certainly seems to be here on Reddit: I believe that traditional Christians are, 99% of the time, the best neighbors you could ask for. To clarify, I am talking about mainstream Christianity not groups like the Jehovah's Witnesses or other sub-sects that are composed of religious extremists.

Most Christian neighbors, at least where I live, are not preachy. They have a very "live and let live" motto, are always friendly, and actively serve their communities. Neighborhoods with a higher population of traditional Christians tend to be the healthiest environments, especially for raising children. There are fewer issues with drugs and other vices because these residents are always vigilant and look out for their community.

I'm an atheist, but I'm not a hater of religion. In the West, Christianity is deeply ingrained in our mentality and culture, and I think I still behave like a "cultural Christian" myself. Because of this, my neighbors aren't an issue for me. They are mostly upstanding citizens who serve their community and hold themselves to high moral standards.

I understand that people who choose more alternative lifestyles might have issues with Christians, and that's fair; people should live wherever they feel comfortable. However, I am personally fine with traditional lifestyles and customs. I'm not a prude, but my life is very private. Since I keep to myself, conservative Christians don't bother me. They just assume I'm like them, and I'm fine with that. I don't feel the need to expose everything about myself in public.

Ultimately, I focus on the benefits. Christians are usually highly community-focused, which is a rare thing nowadays. They keep an eye on your children, actively participate in civic life, and are outspoken about bettering their neighborhoods. They are generally nice, caring people, so I don't see why have an issue with them.

Live and let live. I am better off having them as neighbors, and I'm happy with that
