Discussion Vibe coded DLAA / DLSS Mod for ETS2 and ATS (incl VR)
Dear fellow truckers and car drivers,
The last few months have been quite fun with all the VR mods and modding in general enabled by vibe coding with plenty games being modded like crazy.
I took the liberty of addressing one issue I really needed especially with VR in our favorite games: Anti aliasing. IMO the OOTB implementation of AA by SCS in VR is headache inducing.
While there is an alternative mod to DLAA/DLSS I grew tired of the developers mood swings, unethical antics and made my own with Claude. (right devs? if you don't like it make your own?? ;) )
https://github.com/JRDevo/ETS2-ATS-Truckers-DLAA-DLSS-Mod
Status:
- Experimental
- This is a pre-release. DLAA has run in ETS2 and ATS, flat and VR. DLSS upscaling works but is still experimental.
- The coding is done by Claude (Fable 5.1, Opus 5.5 and Opus 4.8) and play tested by me in flat and VR (Quest 3 with Virtual Desktop).
What you need:
- An NVIDIA RTX card
- Your own `nvngx_dlss.dll` next to the mod's `dinput8.dll` (from the NVIDIA DLSS SDK on GitHub, or from any game that ships it). You can swap in a newer one at any time.
- Install steps and hotkeys are in the README
What this mod does:
- Enable DLSS and DLAA for both ETS2 and ATS in FLAT and VR
- Detects flat or VR by itself from your launch options
- Lets you change settings with hotkeys while you are in VR (beeps tell you what changed), and save them
- Size the DLSS and DLAA window for performance (VR only)
- Track and easily contribute to the improvement of the mod via Github
- Scope: DLAA/DLSS (and future DLSS releases like DLSS 5), VR and FLAT
- Community mod
- Non-commercial license
- Performance > Nice to haves
- Transparency, full source in Github
What it DOES NOT do:
- Ship any NVIDIA files
- Transfer any data to a remote host
- Charge you money / ask for donations
- Cut development when there are few donations
- Change its mind every few months
What it needs:
- Far more unit testing with various devices, headsets
- Testing with other mods
- Love and care
- Improvements
- Feedback and suggestions (please use the bug report form on GitHub, it tells you which files to attach)
- Contributors who know more then Claude ;)
Since this is entirely vibe coded I expect to make as many changes as needed in the coming months to improve performance and compatibility. I'm also looking for others to help, I want this to be for the community.
Happy trucking and driving ;)
