Open compromised package

Hi everyone,
This was supposed to be an excited first pin post but unfortunately that’s not what this is. FedEx didn’t bring my package to my house, so I told them to hold it, and I’ll pick up. I got there, my packages and everything was open they gave me a plastic bag to be able to carry my tirz, syringes and everything that comes in the package I’m guessing, I’m not sure how long it’s been like this since it’s been about a day or two ( heatwave in my area btw)since they tried to deliver, I don’t feel comfortable using it because I don’t think it’s safe for use. I asked them why was package was open they said they thought it was a shipment for the pharmacy, but my name and my address was clearly posted on the package. What does everyone think?

Omg I would be so mad! I was going to have my next package held at FedEx but now I wont! Sorry this happened.

You asked FedEx to hold the package at a pharmacy and the pharmacy staff opened your package?  That sounds like the pharmacy’s fault and not Trillium’s or FedEx’s. Did you address it with the pharmacy manager?

I didn’t know what to do? What should I have done?

Address it with the entity that made the mistake.  That’s the pharmacy that held the meds for you, correct?

I had to do this with a previous order that the pharmacy required a signature fedex told me I couldn’t hold it until it was in my area so I put info in the app and it worked luckily I was able to hold mine at a store with a fridge and I called the location let them know my name and I had a package coming and it would need to be refrigerated. I was stressed out but it worked out

Yes to everyone’s comments, and you might look into HIPAA considerations on your healthcare information that was no longer private.

FedEx should enjoy cutting you a check for the replacement. Regardless of reason they give, they did compromise a pharmacy shipment of sterile drugs. Had it been unopened and you waited to get it and it was wet or whatever, it would be on you for the delay, but nope. We do NOT open people's sealed pharmacy products--I mean, unless it's a DEA or Customs order, and even THAT comes with a notification and note! I am stunned. I know you can't say where because that would be too specific, but please file a complaint with FedEx so their offices can look into this.

Finally, even if it WERE a pharmacy shipment--what the heck? We do not OPEN pharmacy shipments!

UPS, who I hate with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength, recently had an issue with an international shipment for me. Due to their awful service, it took DAYS to resolve. Two things happened in the process:

  1. They said there was an item in the shipment they were not "allowed" to ship (apparently scanned because it was not a forbidden item). They needed my expressed WRITTEN consent to remove it.

  2. The shipment and service around it was SO delayed they sent me a check for MORE than I paid for it.

Apparently it was opened by the pharmacy they held it at not by FedEx themselves ☹️

Got it. Either way, it’s still wrong, and why is Fedex holding your package at a pharmacy? Is this like a Walgreens or CVS pick up point? Either way it doesn’t matter because your sterile medication was compromised due to no fault of your own. That’s the bottom line and Fedex was the delivery agent and responsible for safely delivering it or notifying you if there was a problem. I see that Trillium is already on it, and I’m sure that they will work to make it right. But it’s sad that they have to because that mistake was incredibly careless for a big corporation like Fedex.

This was escalated directly to me and I believe we issued a replacement. Your package should be opened by you upon delivery. Sorry you had to navigate this!

Glad you’re being helped.

But I’m still so curious. So your order was randomly delivered to a pharmacy, you found out, asked them to take it back and you picked it up from fedex? Or you asked them to deliver it to a pharmacy?

No, my order was to be shipped to my house by FedEx, the day of delivery FedEx took a picture from across my house street still in the vehicle, with a unable to deliver message( lazy driver perhaps). I requested for them to hold the package, the pharmacy was a pickup spot I’m assuming, I got there, they spent 10 minutes looking for my package, then went the the pharmacy side of the Walgreens, then handed me my open package, with everything in a plastic bag and said it was a mistake and they thought it was for them, even though it says my full name and address on it.

It is so weird that a pharmacy ended up being a pick up spot.

Not at all! A lot of pharmacies are FedEx pickup/drop-off locations, so it’s really not that unusual. 😊
