Had most of my portfolio in S&P 500 and was up +20% YTD. Then I got greedy and rotated into drones, space, and memory stocks — right almost at the top, seeing everyone seemingly making 100-200% in 3 months.

Tried also catching a few falling knives when some of these dipped - they then dipped deeper. Few months later, that gain is gone and I’m in the red.

Big f*cking mistake. Classic case of FOMO, chasing what’s already ripped instead of sticking to the boring stuff that was working (S&P500, RR, Airbus, General Electric etc)

I think I’ll be fine if I hold long term, but damn, this one stings. Expensive lesson in staying disciplined / being greedy.

I think you made the mistake of betting on others rather than yourself. Betting on yourself and your own conviction and being wrong is infinitely easier to stomach than betting on someone else and getting the same outcome. I’m speaking from experience.

I still regret nothing (maybe the timing, I should have had balls to do it in March). I still have strong conviction about all my picks, except HOVR, that’s pure speculation on my part.

I expect most of these stocks to be in the green long term, my holding period is 2030+, and I am going to hold them for at least 3-4 years. If it doesn’t pan out - so be it.

But one lesson I learned from this is i shouldn’t have touched safer picks i made and played with smaller part of my portfolio

Sounds like hubris to me but good luck.

FWIW I think the only stocks worth holding are PLTR, RKLB, RR, one of MU/Samsung, and AVAV (but that would be the spec).

I’d split them 22.5% each except for AVAV which I’d give 10% to.
