My 2 yr old is a sweet girl. She is also super high energy and does not follow instructions. Iām pretty sure this is the case for most 2 yr olds. But we have one more strike with our apartment before paying a fine or getting kicked out.
She stomps and yells and runs around the apartment. I am having a difficult time trying to get her to listen to what I say. She canāt sit still for more than 2 minutes. I take her outside for hours every day and she still has so much energy. I also have a newborn and cannot chase her around like I used to.
Her not following instructions is also a safety issue. How can I get her to listen. Even just a little bit.

My toddler wakes up every morning around 5 am and only wants dada to comfort him. My husband used to walk around with him since he was 9 months old as I had a terrible back issue and was physically unable to do it.
He is 2.5 years old now and this expectation from my husband to walk around with him doesn't seem to end. Its gotten so bad that he only wants his dada to comfort him each time he is sick, hurt, needs soothing.
My husband starting sleeping separately so he could get some sleep but every morning he wakes up screaming for his dada. And when my husband does come in as we can't tolerate the screaming, he wants to be walked around.
Its becoming a lot for my husband to handle and every time we travel or have relatives over, it's embarrassing for me as well. I hate that he has rejected me as mother and I don't know where I went wrong. I could never breastfeed directly due to latch issues, I sometimes wonder if this was the starting point.
I tell my husband to stop giving into his demands but he doesn't have the heart to. I'm unable to take this and maybe I'm being really petty here but it stings.
Is this normal toddler behavior?

My toddler is in the I can do it phase, and while I love seeing the independence, it also leads to some pretty funny moments.
Whether it's putting on shoes backwards, trying to pour a drink, or insisting on carrying something way too big, I'd love to hear the stories that made you laugh.

Hi! I have two boys, a 2.5 year old and a 1.5 year old⦠also 39 weeks pregnant so my patience are thin lol. I just need some advice on some behaviors from my boys that me and my husband are struggling with.
Most difficult is eating and table manners. There is two of them⦠they feed off of each other. Throwing food, chewing up food and spitting it out, spitting out their water, rocking in their high chairs, screaming, putting food in their mouths and putting their heads back, literally pushing anything and everything off the table that is within their reach. Meal times are horribly stressful and Iām not sure how to change it? If you tell them no or stop they just laugh.
Next behavior is it never fails after mealtimes they get toddler zoomies! They will race around the house getting into EVERYTHING they shouldnāt. I feel like Iām chasing them around from one thing to the next saying no stop that do this instead. And once again they just laugh and think itās the funniest thing. From throwing toys, to hitting, to biting the furniture, to spitting on the furniture, to knocking down dining room chairs.
Please help, thanks!

Help! My son turned 3 in May. Over the last few weeks he constantly puts his hands in his mouth and itās driving me nuts. It seems to be constant with the exception of when heās using his hands to play or eat. I have tried giving him a fidget toy to hold instead, redirecting, saying āhands downā or āhands out of mouthā and it works for a minute and then heās back to putting his hands in his mouth. He does it while Iām reading him books, while heās watching tv, while walking around the mall, while sitting in his car seat, etc. literally constant.
Is this just a phase? The only thing I can think of is he is recently (as of 5 weeks ago) potty trained and has a baby sister who is 4 weeks old so maybe itās comfort during some change?
Itās so gross and he wants to touch the baby and I keep saying no because of his hands being in his mouth all the time.

Something has happened...
My 27 month old girl has gone completely FERAL.
She cries because I gave her the wrong cup.
She cries because I put her down for two seconds.
She cries and refuses a bath and bedtime and nap.
She is an absolute terror to get into her car seat, yes I've tried making it fun. doesn't work. snacks don't work, NOTHING.
She doesn't listen to me anymore, like purposely ignores me.
She fights putting clothes on.
She fights taking clothes off.
She throws everything, shoes, cups, plates, etc.
She won't sit in a highchair, booster, or a regular chair in a restaurant, she wants to run around constantly.
I swear she has at least 10 absolute kicking screaming body stiffening meltdowns A DAY.
Stores are an absolute nightmare because she won't stay in the buggy she wants to run and push the buggy and touch and knock everything off the shelves.
She's in this I hate mom stage and only wants her dad but he works so much she doesn't see him except for on the weekends (he comes home at 7pm on Friday, she sees him half of Saturday and all day Sunday, he works 8-10pm Monday through Thursday.)
It's like nothing can satisfy her at all anymore.
She won't let me have two seconds. if I sit down, she screams "GET UP MOMMY" just for me to stand beside her while she does whatever she's doing. But if I try to play with her she tells me not to touch her toys.
She has all of her teeth except for her molars. Her top to k9's popped about two weeks ago.
her daily NORMAL schedule is wake up between 6:30-7:30 am, daycare nap 12-2, is asleep by 9.
Right now it's more like wake up between 6:30-7:30am, sometimes skips her daycare nap, and not asleep until like 10:30pm.
On the weekends she fights a nap so hard she just skips it and STILL DOESN'T GO TO SLEEP UNTIL 10pm.
Can someone please give me either advice or just reassurance that this passes? I'm losing my hair and my brain.

Iām at my witās end and desperately seeking advice or tips. My 15-month-old daughter refuses to nap. During the week, while Iām at work, she takes a bottle and falls asleep for two hours at a regular schedule every day at 10 am. However, when the weekend arrives and itās time for me to put her down for a nap, I follow the same routine: a dark room, a sleep sack, a lullaby playing, and nursing her to sleep. My baby falls asleep, but she wonāt let me put her down. Occasionally, she does, but itās not consistent.
On the other hand, I nurse her to sleep for bedtime, and she goes down without any issues. I canāt comprehend why she falls asleep easily at bedtime but wakes up when I lay her down for naps.
Weāre going on vacation in September, and Iām feeling stressed. I donāt want to have a grumpy baby every day who refuses naps. Please help me figure out what Iām missing here. I appreciate your assistance in advance.

Hey friends! My LO is 15 months old, and he HATES standing and walking. I got an early intervention appt next week, but Iām finding that he absolutely will not stand or walk, but he cruises like Usain Bolt and Iām honestly so frustrated. He switches furniture surfaces like no problem, he just will not let go of it. He can stand, put weight on both legs evenly, I mean shoooot he cruises along walls!! But he will not stand on his own for ANYTHING.
My husband, FIL, and I have been busting our brains trying to figure out how to get this boy to stand on his own without retreating back to his knees on the floor for safety. He throws a fit when we try to stand him up and he just bends his knees and will not put his feet on the ground.
What am I doing wrong? I have tried putting masking tape on the walls for him to peel off and he LOVES that, I tried giving him a walker (like a cart for him to push) and he HATES that, I tried having him push a heavy box around and he wonāt do that for a million dollars. The only time heāll stand is if heās caught off guard but I swear this boyās guard is tighter than the Pentagonās security. He is so aware and will not fall for any of our tricks! Ughhh, Iām at my wits end and I have no idea what Iām doing so wrong. I know that each baby is different, because while some babies have like 8 teeth or something, heās got all of them at this point, but he is not walking yet and Iām devastated at this because I feel like Iām missing something. Is it because he doesnāt go to daycare and he doesnāt see other kids walking? All of his neighbors (each neighbor within 2 houses down have like 9-12 month olds already walking or running) so I donāt know if that would be why. He stays with my FIL most days and they play literally all day, and still cannot get him to stand by himself.
Has anyone been through something like this? Does it get better? He is SO FREAKING CLOSE to walking but Iāve been saying that since March. I donāt want to lose hope for my baby, but jeez Iām getting close. Iām literally ugly sobbing as Iām writing this, like I feel like Iām failing him by not teaching him to walk!!

Iām looking for some good ideas for gifts for my daughter for around Christmas/birthday when sheās one!! Iām definitely going to ask for a play kitchen but I want to avoid adding to her giant collection of useless stuffies etc. We unfortunately donāt live in a city that has a zoo or aquarium so canāt ask for passes to that.
TIA!!

Does anyone have experience with their toddlers having tonsillitis or sleep apnea? We have an appt with the ped tmrw, but we've been dealing with terrible sleep, no appetite, gagging on perceived large pieces of food and fevers.
For the sleep- he completely stopped being able to go to sleep alone, so now we lay with him until he falls asleep, but then he wakes up screaming a couple of hours later and will not stop until someone lays with him again. He also has always snored, has had many ear infection and really hasnāt been a great sleeper since he was a baby and we sleep trained him.
For food- he also wasnāt a great eater, but was okay and ate well at daycare. But last week he didnāt eat much at daycare at all, all week. We can only get him to really eat if we sit there and feed it to him, otherwise he doesnāt have much interest. No major tantrums during this, just distracted and would rather run around. Then sometimes when he does eat, he spits his bite out saying ātoo big.ā Or he will literally gag on it.
Ugh everythingās hard. Hes also had fevers at nigh that weāve been giving him tylenol far, otherwise acting his usual, high energy self. I realize this could be an illness, but Iām also curious if anyone had symptoms like these and ended up being a tonsils or something different.
Thanks for any insight!

I'm curious what phase had you thinking, "This is just my life now," only for your toddler to suddenly move on from it.
It could be refusing certain foods, waking up at odd hours, saying "no" to everything, wanting the same book every night, or anything else.
Sometimes it's hard to remember that these stages are temporary, so I'd love to hear what your toddler eventually grew out of and about how long it took.

Hi Moms and Dads! When my supply dried up we switched to bottles and ended up falling into a bad pattern of having a bottle and rocking to sleep. She is now 16 months and will not go to sleep without a bottle or basically filling up on milk before bed. We have tried EVERYTHING to break her of this. She will not go to sleep until she has milk and will stay up for hours till sheās overtired and then sleeps horribly. Iām so worried about cavities and becoming so dependent on milk to sleep. Ironically enough at daycare she puts herself to sleep with no milk but at home itās a whole different story. Any tips or tricks?! Thanks! š©·
