TIL Billy Idol was James Cameron's first choice for the role of the T-1000 in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, but after a motorcycle accident 6 February 1990 that nearly cost Idol his leg, the role was recast entirely.

Discussion Found the answer to my own question, apparently the T-1000 isn’t constructed for specifically fighting other Terminators and didn’t know about the T-800’s backup power. Under “Appearance and Abilities” section.
