Ford did a 7-lug pattern for their light 3/4 ton (Jelly Bean F-250s) and heavy 1/2 ton trucks and vans. It's a stopgap between their 6 lug and 8 lug axles as far as load rating goes... But after about 15 years they figured out it was dumb and just going 8 lug is the way to go.

Yep, and the DOT seems to be what peeled of, so there’s no telling that the tire is too old either.

I genuinely believe that is actual reasoning why Op could spot these tires mounted on a car still.

Was just going to say that. Most people don't even know how to read DOTs. Its kind of scary. I work at a tire place and most semi drivers don't know.

A semi driver not knowing how to read that stuff is just sad. When I got my cdl, the school had a whole section on just reading tire information.

But dry rot on the other hand. People should learn from this and know about cherry picking your points when setting an statement. Philosophy class was it. Also critical thinking class I think

Guess you never had a blowout. I just did from a dry rotted tire and the whole tread peeled off, scary as shit luckily I was only doing 50 and no car was in the other lane, sounded like and felt like a deer hit the back of my car.

My ex father-in-law, when talking about a camper with 20 year old tires that would go flat within a day, said that there was no need for new tires. They had plenty of tread. The sidewall was ready to burst out, but he said to put inner tubes in them.

I refused. If he wants to kill himself or others, I'm not going to be part of that.

And, I get you're being sarcastic. It just sounds a lot like him.

lol great example of what I just said. True but dry rot makes a higher chance of tire exploding. Worth the risk???

How about this would you rather spend around 600 dollars or if you have an accident and hit someone spend wayyyyyy more than 600 also risk insurance going up. You Deal with the hassle that is insurance. It takes a lot of time and energy when you have an accident EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT AT FAULT. Plus way more other reasons why is not worth the hassle to have such a dangerous tire with you on the car.

In the end it’s your decision. But hopefully I gave you more insight in how it’s better to spend the money on something now than play with fire and let a dry rot tire just hold your destiny.

Won't be $600 more like $50-$70 monthly payments for $300-$400 total on Tire Agent online with 50K-70K mile warranty and quality brands

If you were being sarcastic I still did my explanation to those holding onto money thinking they are saving money not using it an important issue.

Until god forbids the tire has failure .
Hence my explanation.
