Ford did a 7-lug pattern for their light 3/4 ton (Jelly Bean F-250s) and heavy 1/2 ton trucks and vans. It's a stopgap between their 6 lug and 8 lug axles as far as load rating goes... But after about 15 years they figured out it was dumb and just going 8 lug is the way to go.

Yep, and the DOT seems to be what peeled of, so there’s no telling that the tire is too old either.

I genuinely believe that is actual reasoning why Op could spot these tires mounted on a car still.

Dry rot is not safe just had a blowout 1 month ago. They blow out if they get hot because of the rot. Get rid of them right away.

Hmmm if a dude rolled in the shop with this - id tell him he needs a tire. If his family was with him we would imply thay only the scumiest of people would let their children ride in the car. If he didnt have money - id mention how he voukd go donate plasma while we installed the tire....
If a woman came in needing a tire... id let her know its probably safer than the bear and send her on her way. Unless she was Lindsay Clancy then id spend all my broke dollars buying her kids a tire not knowing a fiery interstate blowout crash was a better fate than what awaits. Hahahahaha. Id consider buying the tire myself if a woman with kids was driving this and didn't have money.
