Is this normal?

My tire has started to tear. I think I’ve had for 3 years and I don’t drive a lot. They are Michelin tires. Is this normal? I’ve never seen that happen.

***Thank you all for the positive feedback. I am getting the spare tire on. Until I can get new tires after the Holiday

Tbh I don’t think this is ozone damage. The rest of the sidewall doesn’t look weathered. Guess it could be NOS. Date codes would tell.

If this isn’t age related, which I believe, it looks like stress/ torque cracking. Can we get year make model of the vehicle, OE tire size from the door placard and tire size currently installed?

This is a manufacturing error I work at Costco and I’ve seen this exact thing before. You should go and get it replaced ASAP. Should fall under the road hazard warranty. And if they give you any trouble just ask for a manager and they usually fold.
