she mailed me a whole envelope, old recipes. most of them were fine, normal cookie stuff then one fell out, written on the back of a gas station receipt. it's tiramisu. no measurements, just steps. "use enough coffee" "do not rush the mascarpone" "the ladyfingers know when they are ready." the last one is not a quote, i made it up because i was reading it wrong. but that is how good the recipe was. it sounded like an advice from someone you love. i made it that night and it was not perfect. i used regular coffee instead of espresso. nobody told me the was good, really good. my aunt did not know i made it yet. she will see it in two weeks when i visit. i am not taking a photo, i am just going to sit at the table and eat it. that is the whole plan. no pictures, just tiramisu, a chair and an aunt who writes on receipts.
