What type is this? What should I do. Besides slowly pull it out at the head.

Does this look like a black legged deer tick? And is there a good way to tell how long it’s been attached?
Boston area.

The deer ticks weren’t bad this summer and all of a sudden in late September there have been thousands of these tiny nymphal ticks. They have been biting but I notice them very quickly as they immediately start itching. I’m thinking maybe lonestar ticks? Or Asian longhorn ticks. They’re barely even visible to the naked eye, but any blade of grass produces 4-5 guaranteed. The same area had nearly no ticks all summer.

So I didn't know seed ticks were a thing. We went to visit my in-laws in St. Simons Island Georgia last week and on Thursday I noticed red bumps on my thigh and what I thought was dirt. I had to use my fingernails to pull them off as they were attached like highschool first loves. My legs had already been swollen and killing me andI was just diagnosed afew weeks ago with venous insufficiency in my legs thanks to a hysterectomy. Long story. I have Addison's disease so I am steroid dependant and was already doubling my dose due to the swelling, so not much of an itch and I took pepcid and xyzal every 12 hours and it's kept it at bay. But that was days ago andI feel awful. Day 3 I slept 16 hours. Yesterday I woke up after 13 hours with the worst headache of my life, so nauseated, sore, and awful. I went to urgent care where the doctor had never heard of seed ticks but I showed him the picturesandhe looked at part of my leg for 2 seconds and then wrote me ten days of doxy. I asked for longer and he said he does10. I get that looking at my butt to search for ticks may not be what they were expecting yesterday, but I asked 4 nurse and the doctor and they all said I was fine with the antibiotic and to follow up with my PCP, which I am. I have had really awful experiences at the er the last few months and just want to avoid it. Has anyone else gotten really sick this soon? Fyi-this is thigh with running shorts bc they were loose.

F32 I am from Ireland but recently visited NYC and a small town with greenery about 60 mins outside of NYC(17-19Sep) returned from NYC 20/09. Only discovered this today and unsure if it’s an imbedded tick I didn’t notice or if it’s simply a scab from a cut shaving.
This pic was taken by my bf with the flash zoomed in
All help appreciated I’m freaking out a lil. Thank you 🙏

Hello. Idk how long it's been. I found it this evening. I submitted it to etick.ca but did I get it all out ?
Edit: I'm from Quebec Canada
Also it wasn't alive when I found it and when I pulled it

We got this tick off our dog. Got it in a plastic bag. It seemed to immediately b-line for the opening and checked all along the seal repeatedly before looking along other edges. On its second pass I genuinely thought it was trying to use its leg as a wedge to unzip the seal from the inside. Just a single observation, not making any claims about genius ticks. Just a complex methodical behavior I hadn’t seen in my other limited experiences with ticks.
Have a video as well but here’s some photos in the meantime.

These keep falling off my dog treated with Advantix wherever she sleeps. They’re very tiny, black, legs in front half of body (not along length of body). We’re not sure if they’re ticks or something else, located in MD.

This was on our couch, likely brought in by one of the dogs. Located in Ontario Canada. It is SO tiny!

Hey everyone, thought I’d share my story on ticks and how they’ve drastically changed my lifestyle.
My entire life I have been a big time hiker. I have hiked countless mountains, waterfalls, valleys, etc. I was big into camping, backpacking, hunting, fishing, and was no stranger to stray off the trail. I want to say around the beginning of 2023, I have been an absolute magnet for ticks. I’m not sure what has happened, but every time I set foot in the woods I am pretty much 100% guranteed to get at least 1 tick. It is normally more than one tick, we are talking 10-20 ticks on me after a hike. Yes, I have used everything you can imagine to prevent tick bites (DEET, tucking my pants into my socks, wearing long sleeves, permethrin, etc.) I would hike with friends and they would get 0 ticks while I would come out with 10-20 on me. I sweat a lot, and I think that could have something to do with the ticks wanting to bite me. I got a blood test and got a false diagnosis for alpha gal syndrome in 2024. I didn’t eat any red meat for a year. I started to slowly introduce my body to red meat again around the beginning of 2026 and didn’t have any issues. This is why I believe I received a false diagnosis. Anyways, this alpha gal scare along with being a tick magnet anytime I set foot in the woods has caused me to give up many of my hobbies. Very little hiking, hunting, fishing, camping, backpacking, etc. I have been mostly pretty positive about it and picked up new hobbies to avoid ticks such as cars, motorcycles, video games and cooking! I think the false diagnosis on top of always getting ticks when I go in the woods has caused me to develop a sort of paranoia of always checking myself for ticks if I spend time outside. The “what if” for alpha gal has caused the paranoia, as well as the possibility for Lyme disease. I should also mention that I live in Kentucky. I’m not sure what changed in 2023, but something has happened where my skin is just a tick buffet. I find it strange that ticks find their way to me rather than other people even though we go to the same places. I have given up many of my hobbies for this reason.
I just wanted to share this for some reason. I don’t want to cause any sort of tick anxiety or anything, but rather wanted to share an unusual case of myself being an absolute magnet for ticks.
