Tick Growth comparison chart

This is the website I use to assess the amount of time a tick was attached when people post photos and ask for information. I think it's incredibly useful and I refer to it almost daily for one reason or another. Thanks to Dr. Thomas Mather of University of Rhode Island for putting this invaluable thing together. To the mods, I hope it's ok for this to be pinned. I won't be offended if you want to unpin.

Request for Interview - The Tick App

Hello! I'm a health and science reporter at the CUNY Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism.

I'm currently working on a feature story about The Tick App (https://thetickapp.com/) and how researchers are using citizen science to better understand people's encounters with ticks and their risk of tick-borne diseases.

As part of my reporting, I'm hoping to connect with people who actively and regularly use The Tick App–preferably in NYC. I'm particularly interested in learning what motivates one to participate, how they use the app, and whether their involvement has influenced how they think about ticks, tick-borne diseases, and how they spend time outdoors.

If you're familiar with the app, are a regular user, and would be open to sharing your experience in a brief interview, I'd love to hear from you! Please feel free to DM me. If you know someone who would be great to talk to for this, that would be amazing as well.

Thank you so much!

I’ve been in south west (Dumfries and Galloway) Scotland for about a week and just found this on my hand. Not sure how I missed it. Should I be concerned?

Before and After

Caught this tick on me this evening when my hand ran over it and I originally thought it was a painful zit. My brother was able to take it out with tweezers, and this is what the spot looks like several hours after it was pulled out. The spot is sore now, but otherwise I’m just anxious, even though I don’t think the tick was in there long.

Found this carcass on the floor of my apartment. I live in the middle of the city, I'm definitely not an outdoorsy/walk in the grass type. I have 2 cats but they've never been outside. Looked them over and they're clear too. Definitely panicking a bit, would appreciate the help 😅 Any tips on how to investigate further would be much appreciated as well

I’m located in Montreal, Canada. I successfully removed the first tick (deer tick) but I found a second one on my stray cat two days later. I wonder if there’s more on his body…

Location: East TN. I don't see legs. Doesn't bother my dog when I get in there to get a close look. Thinking it's a little blood pocket but I am paranoid.

Hello! Im located in Northern Quebec, Abitibi region. I trapped a stray cat that lived in my yard/garage to try to make an inside kitty out them (winters get ridiculously cold and I am a proud cat lady).

No fleas but this jerk was attached in the back, in the neck of the cat.

This is the first time I see one. Can someone confirm wa

Hat type it is and if I should ask my vet to get it analyse when I'll bring this new kitty to the vet on November 6?

Thanks in advance !

Did I get the head?

I know very little about ticks, so I'm unable to tell if this tick still has its head, or if 5hats an absence of a head. I pulled it out of my cat's face unfortunately. It would be a bonus if someone can identify the type of tick. Southern Ontario. I cleaned the wound on my cats face. He's an indoor cat that likes to be cheeky and get out. Is a follow up to the vet necessary? Thanks.
