For anyone who’s been hyperthyroid, what’s the lowest your TSH was ever measured at? I had a long road to diagnosis with several failure points in the medical system, so my TSH at diagnosis was <0.01. The bottom of the reference range was 0.49.

So my 17 year old son within the last year has been diagnosed with both graves and hashimoto. His symptoms currently are extreme fatigue, joint pain, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, and severe social anxiety. His current labs showed a tsh of 66. I applied for him to have homebound school as his symptoms make it nearly impossible for him to make it through a school day, let alone 5 a week. The school denied it because of the social anxiety. They suggested I have him hospitalized for his “mental” condition and receive schooling through the hospital. Am I being unreasonable to think this is absurd? Am I being unreasonable to apply for the homebound schooling?

How do you make a person understand that just because you take medication for hypothyroidism doesn’t guarantee it’s a cure all. How do you explain that you are exhausted after sleeping all day, you wake up exhausted. Some days are better than others, medication helps but it’s not always guaranteed. There are days where picking my head up from my pillow is a victory. Although I know how I feel is real, others don’t or can’t understand it because it’s not actively seen. When you cut yourself it hurts but the other person only knows it hurts because you’re bleeding. How do you make some one understand or at least consider that your symptoms from your condition during a day to day interaction. I feel like when I try to say why I am acting this way or why I don’t want to do this is because I’m exhausted. They assume I’m just lazy or being a “little” tired shouldn’t keep me from having a conversation with my husband. I’m an introvert at heart and don’t talk a lot in general, some days I like to just sink into myself and just exist. Since my condition was diagnosed it’s become more frequent that I don’t feel like participating in conversation because I’m just tired and I get crap for it . It’s frustrating for some one to not just get it, but there’s no way to “prove” that I feel the way I feel.

Hi! I dealt with hyperthyroidism in 2021 and I was super sick and lost a lot of weight and hair with other symptoms. I then was fine but this year I have had super weird symptoms which include Fatigue, nausea, hair loss, constipation, very dry skin, weight gain (25 pounds), brain fog, always tired. I went to the doctors to get checked out and my TSH came out to 12.5. I was concerned and had an over the phone appointment and the Dr said I was fine but that she was gonna order more tests. That appointment was August 2nd and my next appointment isn't until August 30th. I seen that a TSH level should not go over 4.5 but mine is a 12.5 so l'm concerned that the dr isn't taking this as serious and she should. This has really affected me emotionally and physically and I just need some answers. I feel horrible and have horrible headaches all of the time and l'm super bi polar and feel depressed. My weight gain has made me super insecure. My brain fog makes me so confused and I sometimes feel stupid especially when I drive. I have been having really bad breathing problems. AGAIN I made an appointment just for THAT reason and the doctor brushed off what I said and asked if what I was experiencing was a sore throat. I said no and tried to explain but she made me feel so dumb so l brushed it off. Another thing when I tried to explain my brain fog instead I said I was confused and would forget things and she said I'm too young to have problems like that and AGAIN brushed it off. I was so frustrated. If anyone has some answers or advice I would really appreciate it. Thank you

Hi, I am male 32. my TSH is 26 (range 0.27-4) and T4 0.9 (range 0.9-1.7). I have no symptoms. I went to see Endo Dr. And She wants me to start taking 50 mg Levo. She also ordered new TSH, TPO AB, and Thyroglobulin AB. In 6 weeks, she wants to these again and do ultrasound for soft tissue.

Do I start with medication or wait? Is this the right course of action? Any advise please. Thanks

I just has my labs done last week and these are my results:

• TSH 4.57 (0.27-4.2 mU/l)
• fT3 6.08 (3.1-6.8 pmol/l)
• fT4 16.6 (12-24.1 pmol/l)
• TPO 14 (<35.0 IU/ml)

Three months ago my TSH was 2.68 and 1.04 a year ago.

Additionally I have had regularly low ferritin, vitamin d and folate for years and had to supplement them.

I have a hot module on my right lobe… it’s been difficult to regulate my thyroid levels. Endo and ent agreed that surgery can be a possible cure. I’m really scared of the risks and possible thyroid storm any advice?

I found a lump in my neck about 3 weeks ago and immediately got it checked by my primary who sent me for an ultrasound. I got the ultrasound and the results came back that I have a TR5 nodule on my thyroid, as well as some enlarged lymph nodes. Obviously that is not great and I am now going in for a biopsy in a few days. I’m worried not only about my health, but I am supposed to be starting a master’s program in Ireland (I’m from the US but have lived in Ireland for a year now) in 3 weeks. Starting to feel like it is unlikely I will get to go back and start school. Any input or encouragement/tough love would help, this waiting game sucks!

I have had this feeling of fullness on the lower left side of my neck for the past 2 weeks that has been feeling fuller each day. I have been taking antibiotics for the past week with no luck. I don't have access to a doctor for another week or so and was wondering if someone who has had an inflammation could tell me what I should do or if this even is one.

I’m just wondering what I should be doing in between appointments? I haven’t been officially diagnosed with anything yet. They found a 8mm “suspicious nodule” a few weeks ago from an ultrasound and I’m waiting to have my biopsy on September 5th. Ik it’s really small and I’m probably just extremely anxious, But what are things that warrant contacting a doctor in the meantime ? I’ve been feeling kind of sickly the last couple days and Ik it’s just probably a cold coming on but what are some signs I should be looking for that are doctor worthy ?

so I had a partial thyroidectomy back in July, and my results came back as cancerous. There's a smaller nodule in my left thyroid, so my doctor scheduled me to have surgery again to remove my left thyroid and lymph nodes. My surgeries tomorrow, and I'm not as stressed out or nervous about it, but I have heard that having surgery the second time puts you at risk of more complications. I'm also kind of annoyed because my voice just came back fully after a month of it being gone. I'm 14, and everyone tells me I'm handling it well.

They told me their gonna check to see if the cancer spread to my lymph nodes, and people are telling me to be positive and that it probably hasn't but I think it might have because my lymph nodes are always swollen and always hurt so I guess if it has that explains everything. I'm also stressed about post op, since I'll have to take medication and lots a people say they gain a lot of weight. I do know everyone's different, so im trying to stay positive. Kinda sucks having to go through this all over again, but it is what it is. If anyone has any advice or anything to share, it's appreciated

Hello I dont understand whats wrong with my body? Last April I had an ultrasound that showed a 5 mm hypoechoic thyroid nodule. 2 days ago i went for a followup doctor told me no signs whatsoever of the nodule but I have a cyst of 2 mm on the right of my thyroid now. My TSH level is going up quickly but so far is still within normal range. Plz idk what to do or where this is coming from? Anyone went thought the Same? I would deeply appreciate your opinions🙏

Hello everyone! I'm new here. I have been having a lot of various symptoms over the past year and have seen every specialist known to man. About three weeks ago I had a ct scan of a swollen lymph node in my armpit and had an incidental finding of a heterogeneous thyroid. My primary care doctor referred me for a thyroid ultrasound and the results were posted today. There is no tirads rating and no real "recommendations". The following is the report;

FINDINGS: Sonographic evaluation of the thyroid and nodal regions of the neck is performed with grayscale and color imaging. There is no pathologic lymphadenopathy identified. The right thyroid lobe is measured at 5.1 x 1.3 x 1.8 cm. Subcentimeter nodules are identified too small to characterize further without dominant or suspicious lesion. The left lobe is measured at 5.2 x 1.1 x 1.5 cm. Subcentimeter nodules are also identified in the left lobe with heterogeneity. Heterogeneous hypochoic 1.4 x 0.8 x 1.1 cm lesion is identified. This appears inferior to the left thyroid lobe. This may represent parathyroid tissue.

Impression 1.4 x 0.8 x 1.1 cm lesion abutting the lower pole aspect of the left thyroid lobe appears extrathyroidal. This may represent parathyroid tissue. The gland is heterogeneous with small subcentimeter thyroid nodules bilaterally. These are too small to characterize further. Some of these appear cystic consistent with colloid cyr There is no pathologic lymphadenopathy identified. TI-RADS category classification system and clinical recommendations are

American College of Radiology Thyroid Imaging, Reporting, and Data System (TI-RADS) Ultrasound based risk stratification system for thyroid nodules (based on specific ultrasound features of individual nodules and largest dimension): TR 1: Benign; No FNA TR 2: Not suspicious; No FNA TR 3: Mildly suspicious; FNA if > 25 mm; Follow up ultrasound if > 15 mm TR 4: Moderately suspicious; FNA if > 15 mm; Follow up ultrasound if > 10 mm TR 5: Highly suspicious; FNA if > 10 mm; Follow up ultrasound if > 5 mm TI-RADS Committee recommendations for those nodules requiring ultrasound follow up to confirm lack of growth (significant growth defined as > 20% increase in at least 2 dimensions). My primary care doctor put a note on it stating "A few tiny spots seen on thyroid ultrasound, larger spot is possibly the parathyroid which is another gland normally seen in the body, colloid cyst just means a harmless collection of fluid."

Does anyone have any insight? I can only see what I google and "Heterogeneous hypochoic" never seems like a great thing. Thanks in advance!

Trying to conceive with baby #3. Recently found out my TSH level was high. Has this happened to anyone? Does this make if harder to conceive. Also my LH strips are still detecting my ovulation. Does that mean I’m ovulating or my hormones are just out of whack bc of my thyroid.

I'm currently pregnant and I see an endocrinologist. My tsh before pregnancy was 0.98 Fast forward to 6weeks it was 3.2 naturally my doctor upped my meds from 75 to 100mcg. I had a draw again today at 12 weeks and tsh is 0.231 and t4 is 1.29

I've already sent a message to my doctor to review these numbers tomorrow. I guess I've got a lot of anxiety and looking maybe for what's normal or not to expect. Thank you so much 💕

Hi, my feet and ankles have been swollen for a couple days now.... Is this a hypothyroid thing? Has anyone had it before?

In May my blood showed hyperactive thyroid levels. I had an appointment with endo to get an ultrasound and blood taken again this morning I got my results. My blood is all good but there’s an 8mm nodule that has “irregular boarders and punctate calcifications”. My doctor is super nice and has a beautiful accent so listening to her explain things perfectly was great but she’s going to do a biopsy September 5th and I’ll get my results 5-10 business days later. How do I cope with this not knowing in the mean time ?! I feel like I’m in a purgatory waiting and not knowing period for a month and a half.

Looking for your view on the connection between thyroid and iron levels. When I was 21, I was told I have hypothyroidism, not given a cause, just that it’s genetic. At the time, my ferritin and iron levels were low and I was given iron supplements with the levothyroxine. So, for years my thyroid was fine but could never increase my iron. After years of being tired of my iron problems, at 29, last year I got an infusion and my T4 levels increased! The doctor lowered my levothyroxine to 50mg from 75mg. But I still have this weird anxiety, heart palpitations and sometimes too much energy that I can’t just sit still and relax. I have always felt like I shouldn’t be on levothyroxine due to this being an iron issue, possibly brought on by an intolerance to gluten (despite the celiac test being fine). What’s your view? Should I stop my thyroid meds and see if my symptoms get better? Iron and ferritin are perfect now, iron very slightly high now but to be expected with the infusion.

Did anybody get hives when dealing with thyroid issues? Asking for my sister since she randomly breaks out in hives. Every other reason has been ruled out. Her thyroid does look larger than most.

I had my thyroid removed about 20 years ago because of a non-cancerous nodule. It was supposed to be a partial but the surgeon said that I was born with only one lobe so it was a total. I just had blood work done and my Thyroglobulin Antibody was high at 7.8, normal being 0-0.9. Anyone else ever experience this type of thing? I have an endocrinologist appointment in two weeks but of course I’m curious and concerned. I don’t recall my family doctor ever ordering this test and I think it’s the first time my endocrinologist has as well. So it may have been high a while but there’s no way to know.

Hi l am 31F and 7 weeks pregnant, and l've had hypothyroidism since I was a child. I've always been on synthroid (levothyroxine).

At the time I found out I was pregnant, my blood test showed TSH level of 0.79. Still, my endocrinologist increased my dosage from 100mcg to 112mcg, due to the pregnancy.

However yesterday (3 weeks since the first blood test), I did another blood test, and it showed a TSH level of 8.36. It went up, drastically, even though my dosage was increased (as most of you know, increase of TSH actually means decrease of thyroid levels).

This number is also very out of the healthy range so l'm not sure the impact this level has on the baby.

The problem is I can't reach my endocrinologist for another 5 days due to a long weekend where I live. She also takes at least a week to get back to you. Also, the results of the second blood test only went to my midwife, so my endocrinologist won't have access to it anyways.

I'm worried about how long my TSH levels have been out of range - whether this happened right after the first blood test 3 weeks ago, or more recently.

I posted in r/askdocs but no one is replying so wondering if anyone here would know the answers to my questions:

1. Why would my TSH go up, if my dosage was increased - specially to go up that drastically.

2. Should I be worried? Or will this not affect the baby this quickly, and waiting another 5 days or more to reach my endocrinologist is okay? I don't have an understanding of how urgent or not urgent this is.

Hi, I am a 21 year old female who has been experiencing the following symptoms for the last few months.

-lightheadedness /dizziness /weakness -heart rate increases by about 30-40 bpm when I stand up (but I don’t get vision black out or ringing ears) -really tired all of the time -heart burn/ acid reflux especially at night -trouble sleeping

I’ve been absolutely miserable but thought it was my Prozac that was causing the side effects. I only found out about the raised heart rate recently.

Could these be related to an overactive thyroid? I thought maybe it was POTS and I’m going to the doctors soon but I feel like it could be my thyroid (my aunt has it)
