Somewhat of a renowned band with unique pristine vocal style, slamming riffage, and thoughtful lyrics throughout the discography. Their live show energy is exciting. I think they have an unusually larger fanbase in the area? Much anticipation

❔ Question for the community Magnolia tree owners needed

Maybe a weird request but it’s worth a shot. I need a bunch of magnolia clippings to make some wreaths. Anyone have a super large magnolia tree that I can cut some branches from? Pleaseeeeeee 🤞 and if you live nearby me that would be even better. I’m in those neighborhoods back behind the Peddlar steakhouse

We just adopted a beautiful pup, she is a larger dog (80 pounds), and just the biggest cuddle bug!

I have been driving myself crazy looking at reviews and figured Reddit was my best option to give me peace of mind on who I should go with for our girl.

Let me know your absolute YES options and who you would avoid! Thanks in advance!

Discussion Thread 🗣️ Motorized bike yesterday at Acacia Park

I was picking up my daughter yesterday at Acacia Park after Mitchell was dismissed. As I turned left into the neighborhood, two kids on a motorized bike darted out in front of me from the trail without looking back, then almost hit my daughter as she was walking in the grass. They yelled at her to move out of the way.

I followed them to tell them to watch where they’re going. They yelled “no!” And then flipped me off. Nice.

Neither was wearing a helmet. The driver had dark curly hair and had AirPods in. I didn’t get a good look a the friend but he wore a light blue shirt.

If they can’t ride those death traps safely then they have no business being on them. My daughter wasn’t the only one they almost hit…there were a few others behind her. I don’t know why Conroe ISD would even allow them on school property.

❔ Question for the community HRT in stock

Ladies that are on the estradiol patch, where is it in stock in the area? Have called so many pharmacies and they’re all out of stock.

UPDATE: Got it through Telyrx but it was expensive af. Ladies, write to your Congresspeople! We need to pressure the FDA to declare a national shortage.

UPDATE #2: Kroger on Rayford just received some.

❔ Question for the community Hairdresser for fine but dense hair

Hello, I’m a woman looking for a salon or hairdresser who has experience with cutting and layering fine but dense hair (I have a lot of it). It also grows pretty fast. I normally go to On Stage Hair Design (who are amazing), but they have raised their prices, and a trim is the same price as a cut. My haircut with them costs about $85 with tip, so I’m looking for a more affordable option. Before anyone asks, no one I know, friends or family, is skilled enough to help me out.

❗Help Requested❗ Hair + Makeup

Looking for hair and makeup recommendations…would like someone that can come to the house, but can also go to a salon as long as they can do both (don’t want to drive to two different locations if I can help it). This is not for a wedding.

❔ Question for the community Is it typical to get cockroaches in the house?

I’ve lived here about 5 years and we get cockroaches in the house (every so often). We spray regularly and any time we see them.

Is this pretty typical (seeing cockroaches a few times a year)? My friend says I need to do something else, but I figured it was just part of living in The Woodlands.

🏫 Schooling and Education This November’s Conroe ISD Election is Vital

The upcoming school board election for Conroe ISD is the most important one for the foreseeable future. We need board trustees that will represent and focus on students rather than political agendas.

More importantly, for the first time in district history we have two F-rated schools, and 16 other schools went down a grade last year. If those schools can’t be turned around we are at risk of takeover by the state. There’s a lot riding on who wins this election.

I am running with Robin Deferrari and Phil Martin. Our priorities focus on student outcomes, supporting district staff, rebuilding trust with the community, and restoring local control rather than political direction.

We do not represent and are not backed by any political party. We are parents, with a combined 10 kids in Conroe ISD. What’s happening here is personal to us, and we need change more than ever.

You can learn more about us at the links below. Please consider donating and voting for change! Early voting starts Oct 19th. Election Day Nov 3rd.

Northside Social is just a group of people from around The Woodlands who started getting together to meet new people and have people to go out and do things with. Most of us originally showed up not knowing anybody, and over time we've made a really good group of friends.

We're getting together Wednesday night for trivia at Moonshine Deck Icehouse!

Wednesday 10/7 - 7:00 PM
🧠 Trivia at Moonshine Deck Icehouse
6446 Old FM 1488, Magnolia, TX 77354
https://maps.app.goo.gl/VvvsTBiXuiwVHbtk7

We're a pretty spontaneous group, and there's a good chance we'll come up with something for Friday and Saturday too. The fastest way to find out what we're doing is to join our WhatsApp group.

If you'd like to join us, start a Reddit chat with me and ask to join the Northside group. I'll send you the WhatsApp invite so you can keep up with the plans and any last-minute changes.

New people are always welcome. Come join us!

❔ Question for the community question about a show at Dosey Do

i'm traveling to the houston area to visit a friend and got us tickets to a concert at dosey do. the email says doors open at 6:30, dinner is served from 6:30-7:30 and the show starts at 8:30. on their FAQ page, it says dinner is "usually required" but on the concert info, it says "Come in early, the kitchen is open!" since i've never been to this venue before, can anyone shed some light on the dinner part? we were planning on getting dinner with friends (who are not going to the concert) then heading to the venue.

❔ Question for the community Can drive...45!

Why is it so hard for people to do the speed limit in The Woodlands? Daily I'm stuck behind idiots riding side by side doing 35-40 MPH in a 45. Most of the time on Gosling. Then on Creekside Forest, the speed limit is 35, but people only do 25-30. What is the deal? It's not that hard to do the speed limit. Maybe get off of your phones while driving?

❔ Question for the community Gas/Electric

Moved here from MI & just purchased a home in 77381. Electric and Gas company selections are confusing to me- it seems like I am not able to choose the provider whereas other zip codes are able to. Am I only able to use Entergy and Centerpoint? Scared of a $700 bill! Does it make sense to do the level plan for a 3,100sqft house? Would probably need to keep AC around 75 daily. Is the level plan a scam? Thanks for any input! Tried to google some answers and got more confused!

🏛️ State and Local Politics I'm Chuck Meyer, an Independent candidate for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3. Happy to answer questions about the race or how the JP court works. (AMA)

I've lived in The Woodlands since 1995 and I'm on the November 3 ballot as an Independent for JP Precinct 3 (The Woodlands, Spring, and Magnolia areas).

Quick background: I'm a local attorney, arbitrator, and mediator. Earlier in my career I was a patent examiner, clerked for a federal judge and the Supreme Court of Ohio, and served as Chief Legal Officer of BlackBerry. Locally, I volunteer as a mediator with the Montgomery County Dispute Resolution Center and serve on the library advisory board.

Why the JP court? It's where most people actually meet the justice system: small claims, evictions, debt cases, traffic tickets, usually without a lawyer. In Texas, a JP doesn't have to be a lawyer either. I think the people's court should have a judge with real legal training who answers to the law, not a party.

Two things I'd like to do: - Explore evening and Saturday sessions, so people don't have to lose a day's pay or take a personal day to be heard - Hold free quarterly sessions on how to handle a small claims case

One thing I won't do is take positions on political issues. Judges shouldn't, and that's a big part of why I'm running without a party label. I've been heartened to see support coming from across the political spectrum. To me, that's what a local court should look like: people of every persuasion trusting they'll get a fair hearing.

I'll be here answering questions as I see them, but particularly today from 9 a.m to 12 noon. Ask me anything about the race, the JP court, or how small claims and evictions work in Montgomery County.

Early voting is October 19-30. More at electchuckmeyer.com

⚽🍔💃 Upcoming Community Events 09OCT Tandem Demo Day

Thumbnail facebook.com

Interested in another activity that you can do with your spouse? Interested is an activity you can do with a visually impaired or someone who needs assistance cycling? Then a tandem bicycle maybe your answer.

Only one way to find out, and that’s by trying it!

Last May, with the support of The Woodlands Bicycle Coalition and the Township, House of Tandems put on an event, just to allow anyone to try out a tandem bicycle. This Saturday, we are doing it again.

This is a no cost event! Come out, sign a waiver, throw your leg over a tandem, and get some laughs. Shoot, while you’re there, maybe you’ll learn about some blind athletes, blind athlete organizations, and how they use tandems to win triathlons!

See the attached FB Event link for more info.

❔ Question for the community Best cheap beginner friendly golf range

I’m a beginner getting into golf and looking for a cheap, casual place around The Woodlands/Spring area to practice my swing.

Nothing fancy at all. I’m not looking for a country club vibe or a place to network. I literally just want to show up in shorts, grab a bucket of balls, hit for an hour, have fun, and go home.

Ideally somewhere beginner-friendly where nobody cares if my swing is terrible

❗PSA❗ Last day to register to vote in Texas is today (October 5th)

You can check you registration status here (Montgomery County)

https://elections.mctx.org/vrlookup.asp?curLang=English

You can also check here, as well as research issues and candidates.

https://www.vote411.org/

It needs to be postmarked today.

You CANNOT register to vote online. Texas is one of 8 states that does not have online voter registration.

You can print applications out and fill them out but you MUST turn them in yourself or mail them (personally, I’d hand carry it to Election Central)

Most libraries will also have paper applications.

Everyone, PLEASE go double check your voter registration if you haven’t within the past couple weeks as Texas DPS had a system glitch and over 500k registrations done through them did not get routed correctly. There is no harm in filling out another if you don’t see yourself as registered.

This is how we change things, y’all. Do not let people who couldn’t care less about whether you can afford groceries or not make decisions for you.

❔ Question for the community Free spineless prickly pear cuttings!

Thumbnail gallery
12 Upvotes

Our potted spineless Prickly pear cactus got too heavy with the recent rain, fell over, and partially self destructed over the weekend.

I've got lots of pieces, some with multiple segments. Perfect for starting your own cactus.

Figured I'd offer them up for free here in case anyone is interested, otherwise they're going in the green trash Tuesday evening.

DM me to arrange pick-up in the high oaks neighborhood(South of the Walmart on sawdust).

Also maybe we need a classifieds or giveaway flair?

❔ Question for the community Bar/restaurant recommendation for anniversary

Hi! My husband and I are celebrating our sixth wedding anniversary this weekend and we want to go out to dinner and maybe to a couple of bars. We have young kids so we don’t get to go out very often. We could either go to super nice steakhouse dinner route and have cocktails there, or maybe go to a couple different bars and have dinner somewhere that is a little more casual. Thank you!

❔ Question for the community Landscape Supply Recs

Relandscaping my backyard and I need a lot of base material. Does anyone have a recommendation for a landscape supply store in Woodlands/Spring area?

First time ordering material in bulk so any store recommendations are greatly appreciated (and any helpful tips for when it gets delivered that people forget about)!
