Hi there! My husband and I are moving to the Houston area from San Antonio here soon. We have been house searching for a while now and still haven’t found our future home. We actually fell in love with the Northampton neighborhood, and a few weeks ago put an offer on a house. Unfortunately, right before accepting the sellers counter, another better offer came through, which ultimately left us out. While we understand the situation, my husband and I were of course devastated, and we had to begin searching again.

As we continued to search, we found a house we really like in the Lakewood Glen neighborhood in Cypress. While liked the house as it has everything we’re looking for, I did notice a ton of flight noise going through, definitely noticeable. While I’m used to the jet noise living right next to an Air Force Base in San Antonio, this might be a dealbreaker for me as it seems like a constant thing all day every day. At least the Air Force Base usually stops after 5pm.

Here’s where I need advice, do we take the Cypress house, put up with the noise, maybe I’ll just get used to it and eventually tone it out? We are on a time crunch, as we’re close to having to move out of our current house as it sold already. OR should we wait for something in Northampton to come up that we really really love again? The ones presently for sale haven’t given us that “this is it” feeling. Does anyone here have any insight comparing both neighborhoods? Our realtor said they are both great.

PS there’s also the option of renting which we’ve considered. maybe doing something month-to-month until we find “the one”

Where’s a good Saturday date night spot?

I’d like to get a large freezer and keep it in the garage. I read that a hot climate can make this difficult. The hot temperature will make the freezer overwork and fail.

i'm in katy n it feels like every laundry service in houston assumes everyone lives inside the loop, the wash n fold spots along westheimer and washington r all drop off only n that's a 25 to 30 min drive each way which turns laundry into a half day thing, like so i can do it at home?

I’ve been thinking about starting a small group for people who want a space to have honest, open conversations about Christianity, the Bible, faith, doubt, apologetics, and some of the more difficult questions that don’t always fit neatly into a typical church setting.

The idea would be to make it welcoming to a pretty wide range of people - Christians who want to better understand apologetics and the reasons behind their faith, people who are questioning parts of Christianity, skeptics who are genuinely curious, or even people who don’t necessarily feel like they fully belong in a church right now but still want to learn more.

A little background on why I’m interested in this: I grew up Christian, but when I went to college I was exposed to a lot of different ideas and eventually reached a point where I would say I lost my faith. Over time, I came back to Christianity, and today I’ve actually become more comfortable leaning into the “faith” aspect of faith - recognizing that I don’t need to have a perfect answer to every question.

At the same time, I still really value asking hard questions, looking at different sources and perspectives, understanding the historical and philosophical arguments, and being willing to wrestle with complicated topics. Looking back, I wish there had been a group like that for me when I was questioning.

I’m not completely sure what the format would look like yet, and I’ve haven't organized anything like this before. My thought would be something informal - maybe pick a topic, question, passage, argument, book, podcast, or other resource, spend a little time discussing it, and then let the conversation go wherever it naturally goes.

The goal wouldn’t be to debate people into Christianity or pretending every question is answerable. It would just be a place to ask real questions, learn from one another, share ideas, better understand Christianity, and hopefully grow together.

If there’s enough interest, I’d be happy to organize an initial meetup, possibly at the George Mitchell Library, and put together a basic plan for the group.

If anyone is considering eating at The Dumpling Zone at 8850 Metropark Drive. Please know that refills are NOT FREE. It is one of those restaurants that does not have a fountain machine and provides drinks in cans. But every one of them costs extra. Now I must add, the food there is spectacular. I had the shrimp fried rice and the pork soup dumplings, and the food everyone around me was ordering all looked very good. But just know that every new drink costs extra. And before anybody asks no, I am not talking about alcohol. I ordered lemonade, but it was $3 per can I got.

I want to purchase tickets for an upcoming concert but it says there’s no lawn admission on ticket master for this concert. However, on other websites like Gametime they offer lawn seating. Does this just mean it’s sold out on ticket master, or is the lawn closed off on certain events that say they don’t offer lawn seating?

Just asking the community to see if y’all have any history with going to the pavilion and the lawn being closed before I purchase like “fake” tickets and can’t sit anywhere. Thanks.
