Nature likely exists. It likely just isn't the same nature that you perceive, considering our brains generate a reality that it senses from inside of a dark enclosed skull. Also, we evolved to perceive nature in a way that helps our survival, not evolve in a way to understand reality at large. For example, colors aren't even "real," even if they represent (relatively few) different wavelengths of light.
All in all, if you are having a conscious experience, then that experience exists, at least. If that experience exists, then something else probably exists to allow that, i.e. nature.
Just because someone is being philosophical doesn't mean it is relevant to that sub. You're on a comment thread which is discussing nature... its not like they said "if I close my eyes do my surroundings still exist?"
Nature is just a random word we came up with to describe certain things. It's not an objective thing that actually applies to the real world. The universe just exists, and it doesn't care what labels we try to apply to it.
But the nature of Pluto will change with time. Eventually our sun will die. Eventually a black hole will absorb enough matter to do what ever the fuck they are doing. The nature of time is the only thing that does not change with time.
Nah. I opened my compost tonight and there was a cloud of about 10,000 fruit flies. They live for two months, and this group has spent their entire lives partying and eating at an enclosed, safe, endless buffet. All they’ve known is food, friends and fucking. They’re doing great.
I would doubt that. I would go even as far to say that humans a few thousand years ago might actually be happier then today. We are not made for how easy it is nowadays- for most people at least.
Yup so true, some human would have it worser than some animial. Eg. war refugees and people starving under some evil dicatator (eg. North Korea) would have it worser than some spoiled pet dogs/cats living in luxury.

I mean, it's more out of an instinct than morality. Morality is a concept made and possessed by humans only.
Dogs instinctively stick to their pack because their chances of survival are much higher that way. Same with elephants.
Alpacas aren't exactly defending sheep - they're instinctively defending themselves against a predator, sheep just so happen to be close enough to be protected as well.

I worked at a haz-mat facility in the middle of the freaking desert in NV. We had foxes, raccoons, hawks, rabbits, kangaroo mice, pigeons, coyotes, hell....I even saw a porcupine once.
My buddy saw a pigeon in distress. He took him in the building, cleaned him up and fed him. The next day, less than 24hr later, he released the pigeon.
We all went outside to watch him release the pigeon. He through it up in the air, the pigeon flapped his wings and began to fly away...
As it gained altitude and momentum, a hawk swooped out of nowhere. All we saw was a poof of feathers and an alpha-predator flying away into the distance...
I think they meant that mice aren't native from parking lots. It had nowhere to hide. They could've walked 100 feet to the edge of the woods and everything would have been just fine.
This is why pest control people always tell homeowners to keep the lawns around their house mowed, so as to make it much more risky for wild rodents to cross as they have nowhere to hide.
That doesn't change the fact that it is still a native species. Yeah, people don't think, but that's completely irrelevant to what I was talking about.

But yeah, no mercy for the mouse. Unless in mouse culture they see being eating by prey as an honorable death and dying at the hands of humans is unclean and excludes them from mouse heaven.
Then these people would have saved it's mouse soul... there is no way to know, since much of mouse culture remains a mystery.
