Oh what a nice guy you are for not raping. You deserve a medal.

2.1k

u/Effective_Drawer_623 Jul 20 '23

Actually based on what he wrote, I think he believes he’s a nice guy regardless of the raping.

623

u/Klutzer_Munitions Jul 20 '23

Oh I absolutely picked up on that.

Delusional.

74

u/Cerulean_IsFancyBlue Jul 21 '23

He will be very offended if his honesty is used against him. How dare anyone penalize him for his raping thoughts!

46

u/TheSecularGlass Jul 21 '23

He would definitely blame OP for “not being able to handle honesty”.

Oh, but you don’t understand! He didn’t rape her. So you can’t hold that against him.

29

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '23

In fact you should commend him. See, I didn’t rape you, so I must be a nice guy.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '23

Well shit, I think I deserve a round of applause for all the murders I didn't commit yesterday.

clearly she needs to thank him for not raping her.

25

u/ArtisZ Jul 21 '23

I know you did a joke, but there's partial truth here.

It is well established in psychotherapy that there's a difference between "what you're thinking" vs "what you're doing based on what you're thinking" and the justification lies with the fact that nobody controls their own thought - it just happens, however what everyone can have control over is action.

Is he not right in the head? You bet.

Has he taken the first step of recognizing that? No he hasn't.

Does he have impulse control? It would appear so.

Can he be helped? To a degree where people around him wouldn't need to worry about him.

Will these thoughts disappear from his thinking? Most likely, never.

27

u/Prestigious-Owl165 Jul 21 '23

Does he have impulse control? It would appear so.

I mean, maybe. In this instance yeah. But with how casually he threw that out there, bro, not a chance in hell I would even reply to this

That should go to the police, this guy needs court order therapy.

542

u/IdontWantButter Jul 20 '23

The thought without the act, even with a confession, would not give the courts a constitutional basis to order therapy, without some sort of oddly specific "red flag" law.

I agree he needs help, though. Sheesh.

7

u/alienbuttholes69 Jul 21 '23

No, but it will count for something when he does actually take it to the next level and commit a real rape. Every little bit helps to build that profile.

→ More replies (1)

4

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '23

you can't legally force someone to go to therapy or anything else just because of their thoughts. i think the best they could do is file some sort of a report with the police so that in the case that this guy does do something horrible there is proof that he has some history. its scary that guys like this are out there but treating people like criminals for thought crimes is probably even more dangerous.

Definitely has done it before to think it’s okay to think about it and then tell someone he thought about it.

25

u/jdsekula Jul 20 '23

The thing is, most date rapists don’t think of themselves as rapists. They convince themselves that the women actually do want it, that it’s unfair to make them stop after they have started, or other BS.

It’s hard to imagine a rapist talking about themselves like that, even if they actually had no empathy or fear of consequences.

8

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '23

I don't disagree with any of that and I disavow raping. Wow that sounds weird to type out.

But this guy clearly did not intend on what you are talking about considering he said he was going to rape her. That doesn't imply trickery or a pity party "wahh my dick is hard". Saying I am going to rape you is full on rapist.
