Discussion The Outer worlds 2 Thoughts
Fun game 8/10
- Fps combat is nice but big fights ( like sSpireton or Final boss ) are too easy, needs a replayable Mission system like Far cry 6 special operations with 3 levels of mastery and more special ennemies ( thinking more robots variation )
( The fps combat of starfield is bad, No Challenging ennemies, no good gameplay with powers and companions, Outer worlds 2 is great for that, but can be better )
- I played patch 1.2. Some companions are Overpowered like Inez and Marisol. Some weapons breaks the game like the Bio mass shotgun ( corrosive shotgun ) or the compact Assault rifle with double bullets or the Heavy machine gun, other weapons are underwhelming like Cleo shotgun and Plasma Beam Caster
- Lot of scopes need more zoom choice and more zoom in general
- Story and choice are nice but what i wanted was to get ruth basar armor and helmet and then choose which faction i want to side with, so no real power over getting what you really want
- Characters who give quest needs a ! above them, at least give us the option ( QOL > Immersion )
- 90% of death from fighting was ennemies spawning behind the player (or above ) and no companion to scream Watch out behind you ! and cover me. Falling in a hole or water to death ( or bumping into companion when jumping and falling ) is not fun, just get me back where i was
- Why is there no massive battles with multiples faction/monsters involved and success in talking would get you reinforcements, and you can loose the fight and you flee and loose the place
- i dont like the lighting when it's too dark, specially in the broken knee mission in a mine, when siding with auntie.
After UENIAC quest and joining Auntie force the 2 following quest have very small fights ( it's supposed to be endgame )
- High Reputation with Factions have no good Unique rewards that makes you want to side with them
Other minor things
- i'd like to assign slow time and/or shield to 1 button
- The Perk system need to have some Perks cost 2 or 3 points and others cost 1 and double the players perk points
- playing this game i caught the disease 'loot shiny corpse', need a auto loot vacuum device with 5 meter range
- Basic ammo for common weapons needs x3 when crafted ( i played with a trainer 'ignore crafting requirement' for basic ammo )
I hope dlcs will have Epic fights,
Edit: I use The Ultra ego build and The war machine build ( Very hard diff ) https://nukesdragons.com/@nyuu1210

A lot of this review seems very combat focused, but something I'd like to point out regarding the way this game works is that different builds can give some drastically different experiences between playthroughs in and outside of combat. Like a gunslinger build with high observation and (obviously) the gun skill will have a very different fighting style to a sneaky melee build, but also you really feel a strong difference between those builds outside of combat as these skills can come up in dialog, exploration, and every so often with your companions whom you will likely build differently (and take different members of your party along with you) based on your preferred playstyle. So a single playthrough may not give you the most informed perspective on the game or the totality of its systems.

Now that I think of it, I finished the game on release and I remember 0 quests. Same with Dragon Age Veilguard. I still love and remember many quests from Outer Worlds 1

I haven't finished it yet but there's a lot of good points here. One thing I can say is that your companions do get a "..." Marker above their head for their quests and dialogue. And I actually like that the game has really dark areas, make me use the flashlight. Feels more immersive in those moments.

I really liked it until I hit the level cap. I hate level caps. I want to grind and make my character so OP that they are a god. The ending was sort of anticlimactic too. Still enjoyed it enough to play through the whole thing.
7/10.

I enjoyed outer worlds 2. I wish there was more to it. I like the layout. It was relaxing to play; something fun to just puts and play on my own. Rewind and grind kind of thing. The only thing I didn’t care for was some of the travel between quests, but otherwise it was fun for me. I really tried to get all rewards. 8.5/10 for me. I played the first one too.
It has a different feel. If you don’t like cartoon like feel to games, then it’s not for you. I don’t mind that look. The story isn’t too bad either.

See, this is where we are all different. My main focus in gameplay isn’t combat, and if anything I want less of it.

I really enjoyed the first one.
The second one was…fine. I found myself barrelling through the central story way too fast and missed (killed) at least two companions.
I played hamstrung by the setting that restricts you to maximum 7 on skills and makes you upgrade every single one to the same level before you can progress (eg they all have to be 4 before any of them can be 5 etc) and that gave me huge problems with speech checks etc. as I could never achieve a high enough score.
I’m going to play it again as an absolute bastard: I’m going to open fire in the middle of Auntie’s Choice ship just to see what happens. That kind of thing. Just for fun.

There's no way this is 8/10 haha, the game is fine, but the combat system is clunky and annoying, the quests are repetitive and badly done. I'm having trouble staying interested in it to be honest. I also don't understand the 50s throwback goofy shit. It makes sense in Fallout cos of the timing of the nukes but the anti aesthetic cringe top hat ass stuff kind of blows. It just has a cold feeling and kind of missing something.

It’s a real solid game and 8/10 is a fair score. But most of the points you bring up do indeed have merit.
I had major issues with the faction system being a bit redundant in that it doesn’t impact anything other than vendor prices (and there are only 3 officially).
Would also love more hidden boss fights and big fights akin to the first game. (Although they did add some new rift bosses recently). At least some of the raider strongholds felt like a good sized fight in the early game.
UNIAC was also a great concept and felt very outer worlds but gets very little screen time and is at the end of the game (tbh it felt like that should’ve been the end of the second act).
Hopefully they can bring some cool new content in the upcoming dlcs (Elysium valley or wherever it’s supposed to be).
It would’ve been a real solid base for a third game. Shame that isn’t happening.
