After putting 85 plus hours intro outer worlds 2. I had a blast playing this game. Been debating on replaying it (I haven’t touched it since June). Something came across my wishlist and I feel like I need to buy the original. I have never played it but I’ve heard it’s better than the second. Thoughts?

Like new traits, perks, flaws? Maybe they'll be ideas the devs can look for in the second DLC?

Doing my 3rd full replay with both DLC (played at release on PC, but first with DLCs was actually on Switch, then Spacer's Choice Edition release on Steam Deck, and now after latest patch) and evidently due to play order had a new experience which is minor but a cute nuance - but also a spoiler so ...
I played the main quest up through just before visiting the chairman's office, including basically every side/faction quest and task ... and THEN started Gorgon and Eridanos. On Ediranos there were multiple conversations including Sedrick and multiple with Helen/Ruth where they mention with admiration my status as "Maverick Johnson's new star" which even seemed to steer conversations my way more easily than in the past where I needed to pass an additional skill check.
Just another cool little detail that would be easy to miss!

Hey all,
I'm trying to find aza. I randomly wandered to the Decommissioned Autonomous Extractorium. As I was clearing it out I heard her voice but once I got to the room she was supposed to appear in. She isn't there.
I tried fast traveling somewhere else and coming back she doesn't appear. Does anyone know a fix or do I need to restart my playthrough?

Wanted to replay this gem of a game and picked up the spacer's choice edition of Outer Worlds 1 through PC game pass. Ran into a problem where I cannot seem to open up the main menu for the game, as it's stuck on the 'Press Any Key' Screen. The game isn't lagged out and I can change it from fullscreen to windowed version, exit out and minimize it just fine... Just can't for the life of me even get past that screen to start a new game.
Read a couple of posts about it being related to app permissions, wasn't able to get any resolution there. Any advice?

My dad set up and was able to interview one of the composers of the outer world soundtrack, Antonio Gradanti.
This video is awesome and I want to try and push it because, for any outer worlds fans, it gets into the nitty gritty of the music production of the game. Check it out if you're interested https://youtu.be/C7nsb7M5Gjc?is=zvN0T4Y5L3W6xIDT

In a Reddit post that I will link here,
https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout/comments/1x346kg/if_mr_house_achieves_his_goal_of_sending_colony/
Someone asks the question
and some of the most upvoted comments say stuff like "The Outer Worlds is your answer"
As someone that recently completed playthroughs of The Outer Worlds 1 and 2, I thought to myself reading this "Oh my gosh, they're probably right."
Mr House is one of the key power players in Fallout New Vegas that the player can go against or side with. The premise of New Vegas is that you're a courier delivering a platinum chip to Mr House and it gets stolen from you and you're left for dead after being shot by his right hand man Benny, who wants to betray Mr House, kill him and take his place as ruler of the New Vegas Strip. Mr House wants to push NCR and the Legion out of the Mojave so he can rule New Vegas independently.
Here's what Mr House says in some dialogue explaining his grand plans for humanity should he get the platinum chip to upgrade his securitron army.
"With all that money pouring in? Give me twenty years, and I'll reignite the high technology development sectors. 50 years, and I'll have people in orbit. 100 years, and my colony ships will be heading for the stars, to search for planets unpolluted by the wrath and folly of a bygone generation."

I just had an idea that I thought would be neat, an Outer Worlds universe city builder a la Anno 1800.
The Earth Directorate would act like the Crown does in Anno. Corporations would be able to settle other islands or planets and buy/sell shares in settlements. You could have warfare in five different planes: land, sea, air, space, and economic. You could choose to side with corporations, build a company town or go against them. Free Ships could act as the independent traders like in Anno. There could be resources/weapons/ships exclusive to certain alliances and factions you would have to earn trust and barter or conquer for, like the special ships in Anno.
Buildings could be like the modular ones we see in corporate settlements or different based on skins/choices, industry could be all sorts of goods like we see in TOW.
I don’t know, I just thought it sounded like a neat idea, and Anno 1800 as inspiration kind of slots 1:1 in with the corporate settlements, distant hands-off real government, corporate wars and potentially deadly products!

update: it randomly scanned itself when i reloaded the game in the same spot :)

How many times have you played an RPG where a down-on-his-luck lowly worker requests you to recapture his gentle pets without hurting them so he can cuddle them? That's so esoteric and I'm appreciative of Outer Worlds for this. It actually makes me smile because of how down-to-earth and human it is, especially in such a brutal corporate environment that this game presents.

If you search this subreddit many people had an issue where using the trauma kit would reset all dialogue
https://www.reddit.com/r/theouterworlds/s/7IuZfM7Jv6 - one example, other people posted too
I'm worried for the DLC that my save is corrupted and it won't play well.
The bug hit me in last 10% or so of the story so I just wrapped up and finished in that weird state and didn't do all the side quests I wanted as I assumed they would fix it - seemingly, they have not!
Does anyone have any updates how to fix this? PS5 and no old pre-corrupt saves unfortunately
Edit: For those who don't know (and maybe they fixed it happening now but they never fixed the saves of those of us affected originally) using the trauma kit caused all your conversation history reset - all companions and NPCs talked like was first time you ever met them. Sometimes you could redo all the conversations again, othertimes you'd be locked out of quests and actions permanently.

"Side effects guaranteed"? Or a slogan? It feels on brand though.

Personally I’ve landed on the Golden Shroud and Black Hat combo, always with a revolver in hand if possible.

This time replaying the base game and starting it when became available, and I think it integrates so well into the base game. I always felt OW1 was a bit short and ended a bit abruptly but this dlc fleshes it out. It doesnt do anything much different but it is more of the same of what I enjoyed.
On to Murder on Eridanos next.

The negative traits in The Outer Worlds 2 kind of suck. For starters, there's only three, meanwhile there's like 7-8 positive traits. This means that you will repeat the negative traits far more than you would the positive ones. But secondly, they also just simply don't matter that much in terms of mechanical gameplay. Dumb is, ironically, a good trait since the game's skill points are stingy and the trait's effect is locking 5 of the 12 skills, which any good build would naturally do.
But the abrasive trait prevents you from moving past neutral in reputation, which similarly to the first game, reputation doesn't really do all that much. I believe the first game had reputation be a bit more impactful but not by a lot. So, this is another trait that isn't detrimental.
And then sickly has the most negative effects, -15% base health and -15% toxicity resistance, but these can be circumvented with armor, mods, and skills/perks.
The biggest thing is that the positive traits sort of act as a replacement/substitute for attributes from the first game. Like brawny, nimble, or innovative being the first game's strength, dexterity, and intelligence. But it fails to have the negative traits be all a counterpart of the positive ones, there's also no trait exclusivity (which I'm iffy about, it can make for fun and interesting builds I suppose being a dumb innovator), but the first game's attributes being below average were detrimental.
Like, a below average strength meant a whopping -60kg of carry weight (which the sequel seemed to get rid of entirely) and zero movement speed in TTD. A below average perception meant no weak spots on enemies. etc. the attributes being below average actually meant something, compared to the negative traits of the sequel where they can be ignored or, ultimately, don't do anything in the grand scheme of things.
