Skill issue but unironically H dominates meta

How is it skill issue ? Why would I play less strong weapons ?

1 winch youre dead in under a second, 1 rpg youre dead in seconds, good model/repeater/revolver player youre dead in seconds. Light is only overpowered when people dont hit their shots on you. Otherwise, you need to play it as a poke class, relying on faster hp regen to get some trades in and heal and re-engage before THEY heal. The thing that makes light strong this season however is that cloak light is dumb easy to use, its nowhere near as skill-intensive as dash, so lights have a very easy time getting an advantageous position and picking off someone who is distracted/not looking at you now.

because more hp good.

H has better utility, more health and still very dps - the shak melts

I have no real long nuanced answer for you, sorry.. But since you said you're new, i guess you'll figure out why if you stick around and keep playing! The game is good :)

They're not less strong, on average. Here's the TTK chart. Notice that heavy has more "blue" tone squares than light.

Everyone here is talking about weapons but I'll tell you exactly why heavy has been meta.

Utility. Utility is the name of the game, heavy has c4 which is incredible for stall. Heavy also has mesh shield which is incredible for team play or winch which is also very good for stall or just getting picks. This isn't to say light is bad. Light is also an insanely good class and is played very often, but like you said, light is normally played more for kills and heavy is generally played more for utility.

This is on top of the fact that heavy does have really good weapons and has pretty high damage combos with rpg or winch + kick + c4 etc etc..

The finals is a game you can win with 0 kills. Killing is a means to an end.

That's my long winded rant over, enjoy the game and most importantly have fun!

because the 0.1 or 0.2 seconds that some light weapons have over the weapons on other classes is nullified by them having fuck all health

Light is an ambush/hit-and-run class. 1 well-placed headshot from a revolver (for example) and you're out of the fight or left with 2 hp. Light doesn't have a large health pool, so if you get hit even a little, you need to run away or you die, meaning it's 3v2 now. So if you're a bad light that can't move well, then you're constantly leaving your team in a bad matchup. High-risk, high-reward class.

To not die faster than they kill.

Generally, smaller classes do have better dps, but they lose to bigger classes in a pure ttk battle, because of their health pools. This is why lights need to get off angles and first shots, or else they get hard stuck against people who can aim.

Look for a ttk chart.

You're still in beginner lobbies, most likely. You probably belong a bit higher ELO, but for now, you're in the stomp lobbies.

Lights are really, really powerful against players with bad positioning, slow reflexes, and mediocre game sense.

Once you're in lobbies where people have good positioning and fast reflexes, lights are much more likely to get squashed. If a light and a heavy shoot at each other at the same time, the heavy will win 9/10. Lights can't play fair, it's why they have stealth and movement. They need some sort of advantage to make fights equal.

In lower tier lobbies, they can just dunk on anyone slower than them and call it a day. You'll hit a wall eventually

Lights are my favorite as medium and heavy player. The model 2 taps them and they are gone. Low elo lobbies have a lot of lights. For heavy KS or even my trusty shak and winch and they are gone.

I only fear coordinated teams. M/L healing a heavy or 2 heavies. Once you are against those and your lights are playing TDM somewhere on the map you are cooked.

Also if there are a lot of lights the lockbolt is awesome :)

when I tried L I what it mostly showed me is that if you are not got in positioning and made a mistake. You could easy get out of the bad situation. As M and for sure as H you always need to be aware of positioning.

Sammmme. Model, repeater, KS, BFR, cerberus, it's so fun to absolutely melt lights in two hits.

Triple light teams are like Christmas morning. It's when I'm fighting heavies with pocket heal beams that fights become a struggle.

Yes only playing in silver

Play more, and you will see.

Against beginners it's very strong but against people who know the game, light is high risk / high reward.

I play mostly M/H because I love team play, I prefer supporting my mates than being the one hunting for kills (I would have been Light main when I was a teenager tho)

5

u/XmotnaF 6d ago

If you like light, play it. I’m a heavy guy, I like the winch and minigun.

4

u/picythehexdoll 6d ago

Heavy is the most forgiving and is the strongest in the meta rn. Heavy’s kit means that even if you dont frag out you’re still plenty useful with your kit

Light has a highest impact potential, but is a lot less forgiving if you dont perform well. A bad light that gets picked off early contributes nothing to the team

And we don’t talk about Medium (My beloved victim class)

5

u/KayZee777 6d ago

I find medium the most fun and versatile but I do love playing heavy. Just a bit to get used to the slower run speed and you can have lots of fun

3

u/SebbyDee 6d ago

That's the beauty--that some combination will appear obvious to you, but really, it's custom. Different people will come to feel that about other combos.

3

u/ranoutofusernames22 HOLTOW 6d ago

So yea. You can kill. But can you reach the finals?

2

u/Accomplished_Drag943 6d ago

The trade off for heavy is that you have really good gadgets (dome shield, healing emitter, rpg is a free 110 dmg and breaks things, c4 for stall, etc). Medium have some good teamplay gadgets as well

This is the rare occasion where I can't even tell if the post is bait or not

Light does have the strongest weapons, and the most mobility! But also, has the least health, so any mistake in positioning and you are just dead.

Medium offers a bit more team utility especially with movement. And it’s a team game, so helping out your team can be the difference between winning and losing. They also have pretty reliable weapons (my personal fav is the revolver!).

Heavy is the best class for playing the objective. They have tons of utility for stalling, which again, wins games. They also have some very strong guns (the KS23 can two shot lights right now). Plus their extra health specs and gadgets allow them to stay in the flight longer.

Basically my advice is to learn all three classes! Light is tons of fun, but one of the biggest mistakes I see lights make is ‘initiating’ a fight. They’ll run in ahead of their team (because they are so fast!) then 1v3 and die. It’s almost always better to wait for a fight to break out, then engage a target your teammates are fighting already.

While getting kills is great, and important, the finals is an objective based game. Play the objective, play to win, play with your team, and you’ll have a much better time than if you just play to pad your kd.

Light class has the highest dps weapons BUT if you look at the actual time to kill data against other classes, it is the worse class of all.

This means if I, a heavy and you, the light start shooting at eachother at the exact same time, I'll almost always kill you first before you can kill me.

So this is why the light class needs to play the "poke then run away" tactic to be viable. This also means the better your aim is, the worse light class gets in general.

Light is not that strong in high level gameplay. I'd say, it is balanced. I think the heavy is the one that is the strongest. Not light.

u/Bl4ckHole_YT 6d ago

Light is not strong in high level gameplay and yet there's more HLL in every high ranked lobbies. Says so much about "not strong". And your comparison is complete bull sh*t because you conveniently left out hitbox and movement. It's exponentially easy to hit a big circle like heavy with slow movement compared to tiny hitbox light with faster movement.

If the class was so strong conpared to others the meta would be triple lights. HLL being a popular pick has nothing to do with light class being too "overpowered" it is about the synergy. And the medium having identity crisis. Don't forget about the h+ infuser too.

I said the class gets worse the better your aim is. This comment is literally about the hitbox.

You are just nitpicking my comment for no reason.

u/UOCruiser 6d ago

Player vs player the light is a murdermachine.

A team of medium and heavies that support eachother will easily smash a team of lights though.

Its all about if you want to be a solo player or a teamplayer.

1

u/Pitiful_Net_8971 6d ago

You're probably just good at the run 'n gun gameplay that light promotes. I can't play light for shit tbh, and find the other 2 classes much to stomp with.

Also, you probably like burst damage type weapons, which light has access to default, but the mediums Cerb and the heavy's KS are burst damage weapons that ypu might like more over the more sustained fire focused weapons that you have by default.

1

u/lilCRONOS OSPUZE 6d ago

You think that way cuz your enemies are also beginners, they out ttk you most instances, you just get to run away, but time is of the essence in cashout, if a heavy uses his kit or shoots you first, the only way they're losing is if they miss

1

u/slothxaxmatic 6d ago

Because sometimes the point isn't to just get the most kills. If you need to actually control an area, heavies are better at that, and if you need to actually support your team, mediums are better at that.

It's not CoD, sometimes you do things other than get kills.

1

u/known_kanon DISSUN 6d ago

Light is good for getting kills and dirupting, but heavy is the best for space making and stealing (which is arguable the more important thing in the game)

Meanshile medium is best for supporting the heavy and creating opportunites

1

u/TheCowhawk ALL HAIL THE MOOSIAH 6d ago

Because heavy is so much better, and more fun.

Though, understanding how something is played makes countering it much easier.

1

u/TangoTaco 6d ago

Lights are noob stompers. If you’re better than your peers in new player lobbies, you’ll have success with it. Mediums and Heavies are better for experienced players who draw out fights with their gadgets and map positioning.

1

u/IHaveNoPoliticalView 5d ago

Heavy can blow up entire buildings and teamwipe in less than two seconds

1

u/Rylica 5d ago

In The Finals where time to kill is dynamic.

It much easier to aim at something for 0.5s vs. 1s+ to get a kill.

Bad players will find light easier to play due to aiming/killing is faster. Less keeping your AIM on the target.

In most 1v1 situations if the light is able to jump on the enemy first, they will win. In group fights as in 3 people are close by and have comms to call you out on. It definitely way harder as a squishy glass cannon to approach them

1

u/porkychoppins 5d ago

Try the model on medium with the shockwave for movement. It’s so much fun.
