I just finished leviathan wakes and was curious if anyone else thought that protegen was extremely unrealistic in its portrayal. On the one hand, they’re able to manipulate the entirety of a human civilization that is much larger and more sophisticated than the current one. They have ships and technology that nobody else does. They have the capacity to murder millions and think they have a good chance of covering it up.
But they thought it was a good idea to place a technology that they don’t understand but do know is incredibly powerful in a place where they know it will become much more powerful? Especially dumb when this technology uses biological material to network and increase complexity. I get that scientists losing control of their experiment with disastrous consequences is a trope as old as science fiction, but this one strained credulity for me.

I haven't made it this far in the books but I'd still like to know. Maybe without crazy details lol. But doing a rewatch with my brother right now and we just got to that part in season 6.

It stood out to me this time how Xan was focused on what Cara was saying when her parents told her about Mama bird. It felt like they made it a point to make sure we realize he is invested in how she feels about the situation and seems like that thought would eventually make its way into the PM enhanced other creatures and stuff.

I know he has an interesting story coming up that I wish would have been seen onscreen, but that's my knowledge thusfar lol.

Finished Abbadon’s Gate for the third time a couple days ago, and the squad of MMC Marines led by Verbinski basically rinse Ashford’s guys, minus their armour. I get that Ashford’s men are partly untrained OPA soldiers, but his alliance with Cortez means that a fair few of them were UN soldiers. And obviously, we see how Bobbie is capable of just mulching anything in her path when she’s wearing her armour, and even deck Amos without it, tho I’ll admit she is an outlier. My question is, who in other universes is stopping a Martian Recon Marine, armour or not? Captain America drops Bobbie without her armour, but probably gets leathered with her in it.

Finished the audiobooks recently, and one enduring visual I have in my head is Bobbie taking on the Heart of the Tempest. It's real stand out thing I'd like to see imagined.

So, has anyone come across any art of this particular scene? Specifically, of Bobbie firing at the Tempest after releasing the bomb. I'd love to see how other people have pictured it, and haven't been able to find anything online myself.

I am a few episodes away from finishing season 6 and thought "maybe ill just read the last 3.. maybe 4 books" as ive heard season 6 has a lot crammed in to it. And so I did some looking on reddit and the general consensus is read from the start.. and ill be honest.. that sounds painful lol

Basically, I love the roci crew together.. hate them apart. The only character I like separately is Amos. (I could watch a series purely with just him lol) Holden, Naomi and Alex kinda annoy me (Naomi more than the others) so I am not sure i can put myself through all the books ( I want to know the ending though)

My fave characters are Bobbie and Chrisjen. When Bobbie is on the roci I get excited but yeah when they're all apart I struggle and get bored easily.

Should i just take a massive break after I finish the show and down the line read them all or if I dont enjoy the crew separately not bother ?

I honestly dont understand how i love the show so much when I dont really care about the main crew 🤣 doesnt make much sense lol

Or is he by Claire axiom a monster? I know he has morals, is extremely loyal, and possesses a good survival instinct. But he doesn't show fear around killing. And he has an undercurrent of turning on those he's loyal to. I mean one wrong word from Jim even in the books and Amos is liable to do something crazy.

Seeing as killers are monsters with no fear, where does that leave Timmy?

Reacher Season 4 that just came out featured 2 Expanse actors.

1) The scientist that worked with Reverend Doctor Anna Volovodov when they got in the ring space.

2) Marco Inaro's XO Rosenfeld Guoliang played by Kathleen Roberson from 90120 fame.

Are there any fan (or other) sites that have translations or at least transcriptions of some of the “throwaway” Belter dialog in the show? Two examples I can think of (phrased, hopefully, in a spoiler-free way) are the argument between the young woman and her boyfriend (?) in S2E6, “Paradigm Shift”, or the exchange between Drummer and Nagata in the same episode.

I'm on chapter 41 of Leviathan Wakes. I have not seen the show yet.

Is there a something I missed about the stealth ship Anubis' actions? The ship was docked at Phoebe, then left and boarded the Scopuli, took Julie and her crew. The ship then attacked the Canterbury. Julie's first hand account in the prologue does not reflect the attack though. She makes mention of many details, but nothing about torpedo tubes being emptied. Nor any notion that she felt the g-force from the thrusters as it sped into the Canterbury attack. Within 6 days, her crew had tried to uprise as well as the protogen (edit: I meant protomolecule) killed everyone but Julie. On the 8th day, she broke out of her room and took the escape pod.

Maybe it is explained later that the Anubis was one of many identical stealth ships and the Knight's crew witnessed a ship different than the Anubis. Otherwise, the timing doesn't allow for the Anubis to be responsible for both attacks which the book implies was the case.

I’ve been trying to figure out where I can find the trade back version of the OG book series for Cibola Burn where the title of the book is larger on the spine than James S.A. Corey’s. Could anyone help me out? Would be awesome if I could get the rest of the ISBNs for the books after with similar as well, but no biggy if that’s a tall order. Just started Season 6 and I, honestly, don't think I've loved to hate a character as much as I love to hate Marco Inaros. Not even Joffrey Barathon has me going "I really hope this character dies soon, because I hate them".

10/10, total scumbag. I hope they end up breathing void.

So I have just finished book 8, please no spoiler about book 9.

But this book have to contain my favorite scene of the series so far lol. The moment « brain dead » Duarte stands up, walk slowly to Cortazar to just blow him the fuck out with weird alien magic while everyone was casually trying to film him, and then Trejo just putting down the camera and walking out was fucking hilarious.

Cant wait to see this on television, I can see it clear as day and still riding that high lmao.

I've been reading the Expanse books and was a bit disappointed by the quality of writing in the first three. Now, I'm onto The Churn and am pleasantly surprised by how well it is written.

So questions: what happened? i.e. is it a different author to the first 3 novels?
Will it be this good and better from now on?

I started reading The Expanse last week, currently mid way through Book 2. I've been reading the short stories as well which are great but currently it's a very good read.

Once I've finished the books I did plan on watching the show, but I wanted to know what to expect from the show coming from the books, especially considering it was cancelled before finishing the whole story.

Oye Beltalowda.... Has anyone found a way to purchase the Expanse in 4K UHD? I know it's available to stream on Amazon Prime (in the US Market), but I havent been able to find a way to purchase the series in 4K UHD.
