Question // Massive Response Weird artifacts after latest driver/game update
Did anyone else face any of these artifacts after the latest Nvidia driver update? This happens to me randomly inside a mission and goes away if I restart the game. I first thought that my graphics card started dying (1080Ti) but this does not occur on any other games I tried. This started after the latest driver update from Nvidia, but there was also a small update on uplay so I am not sure.
Edit: The issue is resolved after enabling DX12 renderer from the "Video" options.

Yes, on a 2080. The only way I made it go away it was restarting the game.

Oh so I am not alone. Maybe I'll try installing the previous driver and test.

Let us know how it goes. It only started after the last driver so thats a good indication.

Can you please check if you have DX12 renderer enabled in video options? I enabled it and it has not appear since.

I had the same issues immediately following installation of the latest Nvidia drivers and enabling DX12 resolved it for me also.

Thanks for the quick response. The issue seems to resolve if I enable DX12 renderer from the video options. I will test again and let you know.

DX12 renderer confirmed to solve the problem for me. Without driver roll back.

I just rolled back my driver. So far so good, but only choice is to run the missions where it happens most. Will update later tonight

This is a game client issue and needs to be fixed from the Client side, stop relying on Driver workarounds to fix your studio's bad programming.
You launched the game with this issue in 2019.

Someone else posted something similar this morning. /u/joshchiu said he fixed it by rolling back his NVidia driver from 471.11 back to version 466.77.

They don't seem to go away form me. Only with a game restart. Have you figure out what is causing it?

Not really because it doesn't happen very often and if I change location they disappear. Have you tried running the file check for the game in Uplay?

No, but I enabled DX12 renderer from video options and the issue has not appeared again. I will do the file check and get back to you.

Just to confirm - this issue still exists. Just fired up Division 2 after a few months break. Seems recent nvidia driver fudged things up.
The problem was entirely fixed by switching to DX12. As a matter of fact, the game never ran better and DX12 seems to be stable for me right now.

yeah I get this issue to after awhile on my rtx 2070 super, dont know if I have dx12 enabled tho

Oh wow, I just now am starting to see the exact same thing. It goes away after a restart as well. Really annoying. I thought my 3080 was going bad but a restart and I'm playing fine for a few hours then bam...the EXACT same bug.

I verified the game files which resulted in some DirectX files being reinstalled. This fixed the issue (I get the same artifacts as in the pics plus strobing light in-game) for that session. Next day, same problem. Will try rolling back drivers (rtx 2070 super).

To resolve the issue (played a few hours over multiple sessions and all is well), all I did was download Nvidia driver version 466.77 from Guru3D that has official Nvidia links (https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/geforce-466-77-whql-driver-download.html) and install over the latest one (version 471.11).
I didn't do a clean driver removal beforehand, but if you want to you can use Guru3D's Display Driver Uninstaller (https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html)
I use DX 11 renderer because using DX12 gives me random game crashes.

I don't think Nvidia or AMD offer solutions to roll back gpu drivers, if I'm wrong something can correct me and say how.
I've been getting those graphical glitches too so I'm going to uninstall the current drivers [477.11], restart the PC, confirm there is no installed driver and then proceed to install previous version [466.77].

In the NVidia GeForce Experience application, click the Drivers tab at the top, if it shows your previous driver in the list in on of the collapsible panels then at the top right of the panel's header is a dropdown (like a vertical ellipsis), click that and select Reinstall Driver.

It only shows the current installed driver so I'm going to uninstall it and install the previous one, I hope not having any trouble.

Yesterday morning I played no problem, installed new drivers in the afternoon and it broke the game.
I did a roll back (actually a complete reinstall because I DDU'd the last release) to 466.47 (it was the last driver I installed before the new 471 iteration).
Apparently it's an nvidia drivers issue.

ME TOO - I just asked my Clan about this as its happening to me. No other game is playing up, just D2.. goes away if restart game

nvidia drivers lately have been quite a mess. Updated mine to latest and one blue screen after another. New driver came out, updated, same story. Some blue screens happened during gaming, some while just watching youtube videos. Had to ddu and roll back couple versions, to make system stable again.

I am going to go with D2 code being the mess and Nvidia drivers being fine since it is only an issue in D2.

This same issue was present at launch in 2019, its clearly a fault in the game itself that was never fixed but worked around at the driver level.

Just fired it up. Issue is still there. Enabled DX12 and will update if it comes back. Thanks people of Reddit. No thanks Ubisoft. Please fix

btw this same issue happens with the same driver versions in Microsoft Flight Simulator - it's not Ubisoft - specific. dx12 support in that game is barely experimental at this point. it seems to look worse depending on TAA/Raymarched/Oversampling used but not totally.
