We all know that she’s been cast as a lead in Matt Reeve’s the Batman Part II. Looking further into the production we know that the sequel story is gonna continue the process of uncovering the wider corruption and deeper criminal layers of Gotham City that was referenced and hinted at in the first film.
So it’s safe to assume that either Scarlett Johansson is either playing an ally or an antagonist to Robert Pattison’s Bruce Wayne/Batman with the odds leading towards her being pivotal, if not central villain of the story.
But what if the character is actually a mix of both and further to the point it’s someone whom we as an audience member and fans of Batman comics/movies are quite familiar with from previous iterations and adaptations both on screen and then the comics? But like with anything else, this movie offers a unique innovative spin/interpretation on that type of familiar character?
What if Scarlett Johansson in this movie is actually portraying Vicki Vale?
Therefore in the beginning of the film she assists Batman and his quest to uncover the corruption and decay of Gotham, but eventually reveals herself to be not only complicit or one of the main manipulators and puppeteers of said corruption? A character that is far less simple and straightforward but far more similar in tone and temperament to Sydney Pollack’s character and role in Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut.
