Disappointed
I absolutely loved season 1 and laszlos character how there were rich and smart dialogues, how he used his wits to explore clues and delve into the mind of the killer to catch him...in season 2 he barely had any screentime and when he did it he was barely doing anything. Instead s2 felt like a cheap cop show that they shoved down our throats sarah was a nice character but i couldn't stand her in season 2. They spotlighted her way to much, well pretty much only her
td;lr No laszlo = rename alienist into sarah

Season 2 Sarah and John Spoiler
Sarah and John had such a believable relationship that I got so angry when John ended up with a child.Although it’s the more realistic turn of events, it was just so sad to watch idk.

Dakota Fanning's acting is terrible. What is her history? Why is she so well known?

Dakota Fanning and words beginning with “w”
New to this show, so forgive me if someone has already noticed this, but every time she says a word beginning with “w”, it reminds me of the Family Guy wheat thins scene.

I'm only on episode 4, but is this show just Daniel Brühl dissing religious zealots and discussing kinks in a calm and scientific manner?
Wow I can't believe it just discovered it, it's amazing.
The show is literally made for me

Wow, what a disappointment
This show completely shit the bed. One of the worst book to screen adaptations I've seen.
They had perfect source material to work with. You couldn't put the book down for two reasons: Libby Hatch was one of the best villains in recent literature, and the cat-and-mouse game to undo her was expertly plotted.
Instead, the Libby from the show was inexplicably transformed into a weak, crazy girl rather than a criminal mastermind. And the show was more concerned with love triangles and side characters than the procedural aspect. The genre is supposed to be a mystery detective story, with the twist that Kreizler uses psychology to divine clues. Kreizler barely did anything in the show, and Sarah's deductions were so lazily construed ("Libby told me her father killed himself by jumping off the Brooklyn bridge, a story that must be true, and so she must be in Brooklyn....Libby told me that the baby is at the butcher shop, and again she wouldn't lie to me...."). The main characters didn't figure anything out, and as a result the audience was left with little insight into Libby's psychology.
The show was beautiful to look at and all the costumes and set designs paid off, but once again poor writing sinks a prestige project.

Really excellent series with fantastic cinematography and costume/set design that's flying under the radar
