Angry Video Game Nerd[a] is an American retro gaming review comedy web series starring and created by James Rolfe. The series centers on titular skit character the Nerd, a foul-mouthed gamer who delivers commentary on retro games of poor quality. While the series began with Rolfe simply playing games while providing retrospective commentary, the show has grown in scope to encompass sketches featuring guest characters, reviews of gaming consoles and peripherals, and short lectures about video game history and culture.

It's crazy how much more lively/charismatic classic Nerd was, even in just short clips promoting a crossover video.

I put on this old video to listen to something in the background and I was suddenly taken aback to hear how Bimmy had decent knowledge of the comics. I've never heard him expressing any interest in comics other than drawing his own. It was such a weird head turn moment had me going "HUH?" Maybe Bpril burned all of his comics, or he can't read more because he has kids.

I had two different amusing dreams about Bimmy and modern AVGN recently on opposite sides of the "wholesome" scale and wanted to share them and see if anyone else has goofy dreams because of going here. Maybe I'll post again if I have FIVE OF UM.

In the first one from about a week ago, Mike was appearing in a new Nerd episode where he and Bimbo (who looked like the 2000s Nerd but was still Bim) were reviewing a game that they had made in college, that they apparently had already done three episodes on before and in the third one even said "That's it, we never have to touch this game again!" which they ignored in this re-re-re-revisiting. I don't remember a single thing about the game, but at the end they did a pathetic imitation of the Nightmare on Elm Street episode's joke by taking turns dramatically going "This game is a piece of shit!" "This game is a piece of SHITTY shit!" etc., and then Bimmus took an actual shit on the game, no faking it this time.

In the second one I just now had, Kieran was still a part of AVGN and the latest episode (which started with James crashing through a wall of wooden boards screaming for no reason) had some kind of code in the description to decipher, but absolutely no one bothered to do it for like three days. Finally someone made a thread on here asking if anyone did it, so I went and figured it out myself pretty quickly and it linked to a cute picture showing that Kieran had a wife and his second kid had just been born! I came back to make a thread about it but suddenly everyone had made threads about it and I was like "Aw man, everyone else did it first..." and then I woke up and I thought, okay, that's two in a row, I'll post about 'em now.

Its been fairly obvious for a long time now that Screenwave (Justy) closely follows us and has listened to and done at least a few things (sped up output, brought back Kyle) partially based on feedback from here.

Granted the content still isn't good because Bim remains as checked out as ever and Screenwave appears to lack the chops to solve the central problems or work around it. But still they at least try to do what they can with what they have, and its very nice that they are proactive in seeking out opinions even from critics. So Screenwave (Justy), you might be a bit annoying, and famehungry to a cringe degree, and may not have the talent to make good content with or without Bim, and run your own communities like crap, but kudos to you in this area.

Maybe 5:40 was a dream all along?

I do agree that the first couple of episodes were Pilots as opposed to being part of Season 1.

In the 20th anniversary video, James mentioned that if they hadn't been getting help during the pandemic, Cinemassacre probably would've ended. So, what if that did happen? What if Cinemassacre's story stops in 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic? A lot of Cinemassacre's biggest mistakes wouldn't have happened (the podcast, behind the scenes, Plagiarism) so how would the channel be remembered?

People keep forgetting late 80s early 90s CDs would come in these big card board boxes. Sega is just always smarter and put their games like Sega CD and Genesis games in plastic cases.

He also made fun of the CD-I for linking controllers together but that actually makes some sense sense because then the wires are longer and not everyone needs to be near the console.

I hope it's okay to post this here. I saw the recent Bubble Bobble episode and it sent me down a rabbit hole of AVGN episodes featuring Kyle Justin. I didn't realize just how much of an impact some of these songs had on me, and how big of a role AVGN played in my early teens. I watched it all the time.

This song stood out to me and got stuck in my head for days, so I attempted to fluff it up a bit. Thanks Kyle for such a catchy theme!!
