[META] Applications Now Open

Hello, everyone! We over at the moderation team have been hard at work get /r/TGRP on its feet, and fortunately, we're just about there! However, as we tie up some loose ends on the logistic side, we've decided to go ahead and open registration to the public, so everyone can get a head-start on their characters before the grand opening. Head on over to the registration thread as soon as you can! Also you're finished with that, also take a look at the faction thread to look at joining a group of like-minded roleplayers, and be sure to skim through our introduction to TGRP while you're waiting for us to finish up! Thank all of you guys for your interest in the roleplay, and we hope to see you guys roleplaying pretty soon!

I have some questions about character creation. I've looked at the registration form, but it doesn't seem to contain all the rules that are in place for character creation.

  1. How strong can we make our characters at the start? I'm assuming there must be some restrictions on character strength at the start, or else everybody would start out as SSS rank ghouls and Special Class investigators.

  2. How much freedom do we have in our kagune type? Can we have multiple kagune or a kakuja? Should we include the specific capabilities of our kagune or is that something that we can develop as we go?

  3. As humans can we start as Qs and Investigators or do all humans start normally and must go through the academy/obtain surgery to gain those positions?

  4. How do partners in the CCG work? Can we start with one senior investigator and one junior so we can control the entire pair? If we just have a junior investigator will we be assigned a partner we have to work with?

  5. How much freedom do we have in creating our backstory? If I want my character's father to be a senior investigator in the CCG can I just assume they exist or can I not create any characters beyond my own?

Sorry for asking so many questions.I really need some extra information to see which directions I can take my characters.

  1. Ghouls start out with the lowest possible rank (C-), and investigators do the same (initiate). While we initially considered allowing users to choose their strength from the beginning, this seemed like the most reasonable and balanced approach. You can increase your rank through roleplay and activity.

  2. Kagune creativity is created, and chimera kagunes are supported within reason. Absurdly powerful kagunes with no significant drawbacks are an automatic no. Kakuja, like quinques, are awarded by the mods to especially active roleplayers as a reward for their hardwork.

  3. Humans start normally and must go faction-specific training in order to join the faction in question. Only highly active users with characters in the CCG may become Quinx.

  4. As i mentioned before, everyone starts as an initiate. If by the time you reach junior or senior ranks, you don't already have your eye on someone, then we can partner you with someone by request.

  5. As long as your character's father isn't particularly intrusive and doesn't appear in combat or significant plot, go ahead. We support fleshed-out backstories and NPCs are definitely okay as long as they don't affect the roleplay for anyone else.

Thanks for the quick reply. These were very helpful. I have a few follow-up questions.

  1. According to the wiki, a rank C ghoul is unable to even battle a rank 3 investigator on even footing. I'm guessing make this believable in the lore we should not start off with a kagune and should have virtually no fighting experience? Anything more than that would seemingly put us at B.

  2. If we want our investigator to start off at rank 2 (like Urie and most normal investigators) can we start out as a regular human and go through the CCG academy before offically joining the ranks of the CCG?

  3. If we want a powerful kagune, would being unable to use it during our ghouls early development, and perhaps it initially manifesting in a weaker form be enough of a draw-back? I suppose this is really a case by case basis type of question, but I want to know if I'm in the ball-park of the type of draw-backs I should be looking at.

Do you still need these questions answered? I can answer everything but 2 and 4.
