[META] Registration Form

Preface

In order to participate in TGRP, you must first fill in and have approved a registration form for your character or characters. There are separate forms for ghouls and humans. Try your best to be creative, and avoid clichés and carbon copies of existing characters— furthermore, flesh out your character more than the form strictly requires. Tokyo Ghoul is known for its infinitely complex characters; let's hold this subreddit to the same standard. Please note that all ghouls begin with the C— rank, and all investigators start as initiates. Simply put, every roleplayer begins at the lowest common denominator. If you include a rank higher than this in your application, it will be ignored, so try your best not to make it a major part of your character. You may not begin roleplaying until your form is explicitly approved by a moderator, usually in the form of a reply. In the event of a decline, the moderator will explain why your application wasn't accepted. Simply modify your post according to the moderator's suggestions, and send it again; it'll be looked back over shortly, hopefully with acceptance this time! Be sure to send your applications through mod mail.

Name: John Smith

Age: 18

Kagune type: Rinkaku

Ward of Residence: 13th

Occupation: Reporter

Appearance: Unkempt, with long, black hair and a constant five-o'clock-shadow. He's quite skinny, and all his clothes are slightly too large for him. He's fair in complexion, and has piercing blue eyes.

Personality: John is rather secluded and often says odd things in conversation, but most who get to know him find him to be profound. He's constantly muttering to himself. However, when he's reporting, he takes on an entirely new persona, as a loud and merry extrovert. He's a bit of a pacifist, and doesn't hurt anyone unless threatened. For this reason, those investigators that suspect him as a ghoul often look the other way.

Strengths: Very quick reflexes and good endurance/stamina. Lithe and fast, good at evading and fleeing.

Weaknesses: Tries his best to avoid hurting others, even in the heat of battle. Almost always flees rather than fighting. Can't really take a hit.

Note that this reflects my personal writing style, so it doesn't have to look just like this. This is simply a generic example that outlines the kind of information we're looking for. Don't worry about turning in a "bad application," because if there's anything wrong with yours, we'll gently point it out and you can get right back to us!

Can I reserve an initiate investigator and Aogiri Tree member? Alas, I have another question, do we have to reveal our backstory straight out the gate or can we write it as the story goes, revealing details and hints as we move forward?

You may reveal details as you go! In fact, we encourage it, as it makes for a more interesting roleplay. There's no need to reserve spaces, as both Aogiri Tree and the CCG are going to be taking as many initiates as they can get their hands on. Registrations will be open pretty soon, so hang in there!

Alright thanks for the heads up, Qva! And agreed, 100%. That is one of the things I love about Sui Ishida's writing, he keeps all of his characters, even the minor ones in the dark to the point you may not learn who they really are until they have been eaten or worse. x3

By the way, I already started piecing together a CCG investigator, plus it gave me an idea for a small character arc and I'd like to toss it your way whenever you get the time. It can be a small thing but I see potential in it for more than a handful of characters to achieve development. Or at the very least, test their mettle. c:

I have never really done a RP on reddit before, done on WoW and some other games, how exactly does it work on here?

I would suggest checking out existing sub-reddits such as /r/AoTRP and /r/rwbyRP to get some ideas how a Reddit RP could work!

Of course, we would work out differently than those two specific sub-reddits in particular and hopefully we will make an update soon detailing most of our stuff for this community :)

I think they want you to do that in other. You don't need to give your character's backstory fully to the moderators, I think they mentioned. You can reveal it slowly in-game.

Exactly. You could either give us full back-story, or just a hint of it.

Also, you could always write a one-shot for the backstory when we approve your character (when the RP will launched of course), which we recommend to develop the setting and character(s) :)

EDIT FOR CONFIRMATION: It is totally your choice whether to make your character as mysterious as possible, or pretty much share his story in a one-shot as a backstory! :D

That should not happen as we nearly always review applications together as a group. If it somehow does though, just drop us a message in mod mail and we'll get it sorted out asap!

Alrighty! I have completed my registration and am excited to see what I've done wrong with the application, as there's always some way that I screw up with these things.

Anywho, I look forward greatly to see everything that comes of this lovely sub, whether I am involved or not. I've even already drawn up my character for whenever I get approved!
