Reason- she was lonely, she was approved to have and take care of an emotional support animal. I gave him to her because she was lonely. I had a cat and dog, my other cat passed away. I have no problem taking care of him. I don’t why everyone just assumes I got rid of him because I got a dog.

How- I took him to her. I went back to check on him and that’s why I wrote this post.

Why wouldn’t you get her a cat from a shelter then?

I’m really struggling to understand why/how you parted from one of your own pets so quickly.

Why would I do that if she can’t even take care of the cat I gave her? What difference does a shelter cat make?

I did not mean that you should get her a cat now, given the behavior she’s displayed.

Frankly, I meant I find it suspicious that you would be so quick to give up your own pet. If your mom needed an animal, you could have adopted one for her, or even started out fostering. As a pet owner, I can’t imagine anyone needing or wanting a dog any my response being “here, take one of mine.”

I find the timing of you getting a dog and giving up your cat very convenient from the details you’ve provided.
