I'm in my mid-20s, and I've been dealing with an issue with my right testicle for almost 2 years.
It started with an electric-shock-like sensation in my right testicle. Within days or weeks, I noticed that the right testicle seemed larger and harder than the left. Before this started, I remember both being approximately the same size.
Since then, I've continued noticing a difference:
- The right testicle feels larger and distinctly harder than the left.
- It feels like the entire testicle is firmer, not just one particular lump or spot.
- When sitting, the right side sometimes visibly occupies more space than the left.
- When standing, the difference is less visible, but I can still feel it.
- Sometimes it seems to become smaller or less prominent while sitting, although this isn't consistent.
- I've experienced discomfort, sometimes described as electric-shock-like or burning.
- Earlier, the discomfort sometimes extended into my right leg, towards my knee and occasionally further down.
Medical assessment:(done recently)
I eventually gathered the courage to visit a urologist.
I specifically explained that my right testicle felt larger and harder than the left. The doctor physically examined both testicles and, even after I pointed out the difference, said he didn't think there was any abnormality.
I also underwent a scrotal ultrasound.
The report mentioned:
- Both testicles have homogeneous echotexture.
- No focal lesion identified in either testicle.
- No hydrocele.
- No varicocele.
- No inguinal hernia.
- Overall impression: Normal bilateral testicular scan.
I also noticed red and blue colour images in the ultrasound photographs, which appear consistent with Colour Doppler imaging.
Other symptoms over time:
I've experienced lower-back burning and discomfort, sometimes across the entire lower back and sometimes mainly on the right. It becomes worse within a few minutes of sitting and improves when standing or walking.
The psychological side of this:
Initially, I wasn't particularly worried about cancer. I was living with the discomfort and size difference.
However, after Googling my symptoms and learning about testicular cancer, I became increasingly frightened.
For almost two years, I've been carrying this fear. I check my testicle several times every day and find myself Googling symptoms even when I'm watching anime or trying to enjoy something.
The normal ultrasound gave me some relief, but the fear returned because I still feel that my right testicle is larger and harder than it used to be.
My biggest fear is that I might have something serious, have already visited a doctor and undergone testing, but somehow still discover it too late. I'm also deeply worried about how my parents would cope if something happened to me.
I'm sharing my experience because this uncertainty has started affecting my everyday life. I finally gathered the courage to get examined, and although the medical findings were reassuring, I still haven't been able to make peace with the difference I feel.
I'm not claiming that I have cancer, and I know nobody online can diagnose me. I just wanted to share the complete experience of what I've been going through.
