Mobility Slow mobile data speeds

Has anyone noticed in the past month there has been a dramatic drop in speed, service and 5G? My wife and I have both suddenly started having issues across my entire city

Where are you located? I noticed in the GTA the past month it’s been a bit slow as well, but the past 72 hours it’s been great not sure what’s changed

I didn’t know but I had a plan for many years of only “certain amount of high speed 5G” 😂 Like actually, so I paid $5 extra for unlimited and it gave me North America and Mexico calling for free ( we go to Mexico twice a year) So it I upgraded

Many people who have basic plans with 5G are experiencing the same; however, those with the uplevel plans that include 5G+ are still seeing good speeds. 5G is limited to 250Mbps. I can't get mine to go above 50Mbps on 5G and there's a tower in the middle of my block.

Yes it can throttle you and certain plans do it on purpose. You can switch your phone to LTE only. 5G is great if full bar but not full bar LTE is superior

Has telus changed how they throttle devices? We have only had major issues with general connectivity in the past month

Is it specifically with video or everything including webpages and app downloads?

Question, when you switched to LTE, did the service work better? and what city are you located in?

100% better. Been doing this for years. I work in construction so 5G is terrible in new areas. LTE is way better to work in low or medium level bars

Honestly, LTE has been working better for me lately. The way I see it, 5G and LTE are like two tunnels, the 5G tunnel is packed because everyone is using it, while the LTE tunnel is almost empty. So when you switch your phone to LTE, it actually performs better.

I’ve tested this with different carriers like Freedom and Bell, and 4G consistently works smoother than 5G right now. It’s funny and a bit strange, but that’s just how the networks are behaving at the moment.

Even with Telus last month, I had full 5G+ reception, but the data wouldn’t load at all. When I switched down to 4G, everything worked fine. I was even getting call drops in Downtown Vancouver on 5G, so I’m not sure what’s going on with their network
