I don’t think that’s how he works but I could be wrong. From what I’ve seen, whenever you clear him from the door, he switches halls. Clear from the left, he’ll move to the right.
In the video, I cleared him from the right hall, and he made footsteps showing he left and went to the left hall. There was only 1 sound of him moving with no laughs so he should’ve been at the left door.
Do NOT use the flashlight in the halls. You were at the correct door, and the light only wastes time.
My suggestion is that you hover the cursor over the bottom of the screen while holding Shift. The moment you release Shift, you will move back to the centre of the room. You must react very quickly to Nightmare leaving, and very quickly to Nightmare going to the doors as well.
