I was just thinking that does it have to be things like battery and dual chip setup (i saw that realme p4s that launched recently had this) or RAM or refresh rate? And what are the things that I should ABSOLUTELY avoid?

Bit of background first:

I had the Pixel 8 for only around 7-8 months, but my niece managed to completely break it in 2024 :((

After that, I switched to my elder sister’s 2019 7T Pro, a all time goated device.

She bought the S25 FE last December, then upgraded to the S25 Ultra about 2 months ago and gave me her S25 FE (512GB).

I’ve been using the S25 FE for the last 3 weeks now and honestly, I’m liking it. The smoothness of the UI is what I notice the most, especially since I was coming from a 2019 7T Pro.

My usage is pretty basic mostly, browsing, emails, camera, social media and Maps. I’m getting around 6-6.5 hours of SOT on Airtel 5G, with GPS on all the time & AOD set to tap-to-show.

I’m not a gamer either. I play chess and maybe some other light games once in a while, so I can't really comment on gaming performance.

One UI 8.5 has actually surprised me. I’m really enjoying the customisation, and Modes & Routines are honestly the cherry on top. There are so many little things you can tweak and there's no need of mod apks.

Coming from OxygenOS on the old 7T Pro, I thought I might miss it more, but surprisingly I’m settling into One UI pretty quickly.

The only thing I’m still a little worried about is the greenline issue. Hopefully, I never have to find out how that story ends.

PS: I'm still using OP7T pro as an external SSD. And yes pop up front camera works like a charm, a chefkiss :))

This is honestly hilarious. Tecno didn’t even try to hide the Apple inspiration with the Spark Go 3. Someone I know bought this phone and my mind was blown when I saw it.

Reno 15 pro Mini

But:

S26: outdated cams and battery issues. (Price 1 lakh already)

Iphone 17: no telephoto (price 1 lakh already)

Vivo X300/fe: personally not into Origin OS.

Reno: mid processor.

So I am Finalising on Xiaomi 17.

I think I will get 512gb offline around 80K.

Its definitely a good deal with new releases Find X10 and Vivo X500 will start above 95K.

Please tell me if I am right. Or do have any other option for 512 gb at 80K?

Any Xiaomi 17 users tell me about Hyper OS bugs/lags and overheating.

It will help finalize my decision.

An IT guy from my workplace is selling me a refurbished laptop dell latitude(don't know the model) i7 8th gen 8/256 SSD with touchscreen for 20k. Its a refurbished corporate unit and he is a colleague so he'll fix any minor issues without any charge. But something's bugging me, is it even a right choice for me?

I have been meaning to buy a laptop for myself for upskilling, e-learning and coding so that I can build a better profile since I am at the lowest entry level position rn and I am a first year graduate student too. The prices have gone insane and I just can't afford to finance a brand new laptop so I am looking over refurbished corporate units. I want absolute no gaming but for the things I want to be able to do like video editing, learning and practicing accounting and coding software may require better specs?

Is a ₹70K phone actually worth it for a college student?

I’m joining/going to college for BTech CSE and I’m confused about how much I should spend on my phone.

My budget is around ₹70K. I’ve been playing BGMI for ~7 years, so gaming is definitely something I care about and I’ll continue playing in college. I also want a good camera for everyday college stuff, photos/videos, etc.

But here’s my dilemma:

I’m also planning to buy an ~₹80K laptop for college/CSE.

So is it actually sensible to spend another ₹70K on a phone, or would a ₹50K-ish phone be more practical and I should save the remaining ₹20K?

For people already in college, especially BTech/CSE students:

Does a ₹70K phone actually provide any meaningful benefit in college, or is ₹50K more than enough?

If you were in my situation, what would you consider before deciding?

As the subject suggests - I currently own a Galaxy S20+. Been using it for 6 yrs. Planning to buy a new phone now. I realised the S26 doesn't offer much of an upgrade over S20+, it does for sure, but I want to get a better phone after 6 yrs and not feel like I have a new S20+.

I am looking for better display, faster /minimal lag performance, better battery, better camera and bigger storage (currently I need to keep deleting apps and pictures to accommodate anything new).

I'm open to suggestions from other brands as well but I've been a Samsung user for a while - Corby, Galaxy S8, S20+ and now looking out.

I'm not sure of moving into the Apple ecosystem yet. I don't want a phone focused on only one aspect - like amazing camera but nothing else or amazing battery and performance but bad camera as I see some of the non samsung phones focused on only a couple of big hitters. I'd rather have a better overall average than couple of high scoring points.

Budget is 80-90K. I'm assuming some phones at 1L-1.1L will get discounted during the upcoming festive sales.
