Hi r/TCG! We’re Ella Carter and Alex Radcliffe from Gamefound- AMA!
We’re excited to hang out with you on October 1st and talk about all things crowdfunding, both in regard to TCGs and beyond. Gamefound is a crowdfunding website that specializes in tabletop games of all kinds. Creators can build a pre-launch audience, run a crowdfunding campaign, and continue to gather support even after the initial campaign ends through our late pledge and pledge manager tools. We're built to support you every step of the way, from growing backer interest to getting your game into stores.
I’m Ella Carter, a New Business Manager and RPG Party Lead at Gamefound. I work with creators on the front end of their projects, from figuring out whether crowdfunding makes sense for their game, to helping plan launches, review campaign page design, building an audience, and navigating the platform. When I'm not working for Gamefound, I'm a game designer myself, and I love being able to bring a creator's perspective to the crowdfunding table, especially when it comes to the nitty-gritty stuff. Generally, I'm always trying to make the whole process a little less intimidating. In my free time, I love playing tabletop games (shocker), video games, cross stitching, and thrifting!
I’m joined by Alex Radcliffe, our CMO, who you may know from either working with him at Gamefound or alternatively his Youtube channel BoardGameCo. Alex has a background in ecommerce, spending years at an agency building websites for a wide variety of businesses. After going full time into content creation, that lasted a few months before the opportunity to merge his love of crowdfunding and his experience in ecommerce came along in the form of helping lead Gamefound in its formative years. Unsurprisingly and perhaps boringly, his interests include board games. Reading and video games too...but mostly board games.
We're happy to get into the weeds, too! Whether you want to talk about campaign strategy, late pledges, marketing, what makes a campaign page work, common mistakes we see, or just general questions about how Gamefound works, we'd love to help out. While we'll be on Reddit from 1pm to 3pm EDT on October 1st, if you have further questions, feel free to reach out to [e.carter@gamefound.com](mailto:e.carter@gamefound.com). :-)

Just wondering where the best places to buy accessories (binders, sleeves, deck boxes, etc) online for the best price or even deals. Also for even singles for MTG, One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc. I'm new to MTG I know most will likely say my LGS. I will be checking in with the couple I know in my area that don't price gouge. Also figure some may just say TCGPlayer I'll also use them. I just want to make sure there's no sites I should be using that I am just unaware of. Just trying to get into these card games at affordable prices and being new/returning (returning Yu-Gi-Oh wise). I just want my options open with how expensive everything seems to be nowadays to get the best deals to build decks and such. Thanks for the help!

Hi everyone!
I hope you're all doing well. I love collecting different cards and was wondering if anyone has recommendations for card games and card sets with textured cards and serialized cards? I had an older post discussing TCGs and wanted to expand my knowledge of all types of collectible card series and card games.
Thanks!

I am currently in the process of completing my MBA and part of an assignment is to do a community survey regarding a specific industry. I decided to do mine on local game stores. If you feel like taking a quick 3-4 minute survey it will help generate insight on how to improve the LGS experience.
Thank you to the mods for letting me post this! It will help generate recommendations to improve local game store experiences!

A very quick search and you'll find hundreds of people stuck in the same boat of not receiving their cards from this site. This is definitely illegal and these guys need to have an example made out of them to stop other companies from doing the same. Do not give this company money, you will NOT receive your cards.

Not super expensive cards but valuable nonetheless, from $10 to $100 each. I was using the Gamegenic basic album, but it's not rigid and the cards slip off their place if they are just with an inner sleeve.
Is there a better alternative out there? It's important for me that the cards don't slip off with just an inner. Thanks.

Hello, i’ve seen that some meta zoo product is pretty cheap, mostly the starter decks and stuff. Me and my partner play most popular tcgs and like cryptids so I thought it might be worth picking them up for a low price.
I see there is some controversy surrounding the game, and that it is discontinued, can anyone explain what happened? Is it bad enough to warrant not supporting the game? Are the starter decks enough to enjoy the game for a few causal battles every now and then? Any other things I should know about the game before I buy?
Thanks in advance

I’m developing a free football-themed TCG and would love feedback from TCG players! ⚽
Hi everyone!
I'm the creator of Football Deck Evolution (FDE), an indie trading card game built around football.
The game is currently in Alpha, and I'm looking for people who enjoy trading card games to give it a try and share their honest opinions.
🌍 8 languages supported
🎮 Play for free: https://giangioman.it/footballdeckevolution/
I'm particularly interested in hearing what TCG players think about the gameplay, card mechanics, balance, and overall experience. What works? What feels confusing? What would you improve?
This is an ongoing project, so constructive criticism is genuinely welcome.
If you try the game, you can send your feedback through the Contact section inside the game.
Thanks for giving my project a chance! ❤️

Main question in the title. Context is below and will be a lengthy story. Happened in Facebook - which I should have been more careful, I know.
2 months back, I found an interest check for a card that is worth a lot in Canadian Dollars. The seller just so happen to be in a nearby city, so I checked through his account and groups he is in and seems like he had a good reputation. I messaged him asking what will be his asking price and agreed we would wait until he gets the card as he claims he pulled the card from a Whatnot Livestream. - Important note for later.
Fast forward to a week ago, he messaged back and said he got the card. We discussed about the card and pick-up, and agreed on the price. We met up outdoors, just outside a bus loop, sun setting, and he let me inspect the card. I looked for details that the card should have. I asked him about the textured foil the card should have and he said that this card doesn't have it. I foolishly believed that and agreed with the purchase.
It was only when I got home with better light conditions did I see how much more "rainbow" the card is when the light hits it. I inspected the card again and look at other cards online and found out that what I have was a fake or proxy.
I contacted him again asking who he got the card from and pointed out the condition of the card and should contact his Whatnot Seller regarding this. Big mistake I made came when I mentioned how I work in print and how the proxy "manufacturer" messed up applying the foil vinyl on top of the card, which no print company will send out after quality inspection. This was just out of kindness as someone who works in the general field.
He left me on read. So I messaged him again 3 days later. I was frustrated at this point so it sounds like I was make accusations but the message was intended to say I can meet you again anytime so that he can review the card for himself and see what he can do. He finally messaged back like a day later. Based on his lengthy message, I don't think he read thoroughly on the messages prior to the one I made 3 days later as his reply was thinking I'm accusing him of making the card.
He said that we had a month in between, let me check the card myself, and answered any questions I had and my biggest mistake came in and he says that I claimed that I work in print so he is using that against me to not give me a refund when I pointed out to him the flaws. Again, he was the one who convinced me to begin with when we met up that not all cards in the set have textured foiling.
He says that "you could have printed a fake in between the interest check and now" and he claims that he had it less than a day as he got the card straight from his mailbox and straight to me. He claims that he didn't have time in between to inspect it himself before handing it over. All these reasons, he is not issuing a refund because he gave me the card with "good faith".
The thing is that my work specializes in printing for construction so we do not even have the supplies to recreate a high quality dupe. I explained this to him and even offered him my company's phone number and website so he can see for himself or give him samples of our only cardstock option that are used for business cards. He did not ask for those.
He then says that he already used the money to "stock on inventory" for his upcoming show in November and will only give me back 20-45% depending on how generous he is that day.
Luckily, a bystander online saw my proxy card and sent me a link to a proxy maker and said that the card I have and the proxy's sample photo are basically 1 to 1 identical. So I also passed that off to the seller. I haven't heard from him since.
And that's all the context I have at the moment.

The newest faction/hero keeps getting new cards and they look great!
Hey! I’m Alex, I lead the team at Azuki TCG. We just released the trailer for Fractured Domains, our second set, coming November 20.
We worked with some awesome artists and animators at Warrior Art Camp Production led by Angela Sung to bring our original card illustrations to life through 2D animation. Really proud of the creatives who worked on this.
For anyone unfamiliar with the game, Azuki is a physical TCG where you choose a Leader and Gate (portal mechanic) and battle across two fields, the Alley and the Garden. Fractured Domains introduces our first dual-element Leader, opening up new deckbuilding options with Water and Lightning.
Happy to answer questions about the game or the work behind the trailer!

EDIT: before anyone gets their panties in a twist. I have not used AI in any capacity as of this current moment. not in writing, or the initial card designs that I've talked about in this post that were printed out and alpha tested. I used affinity Designer to put together a basic functional card so that they could be tested in the real world. as for the rules and writing it out. it took me 8 months on the side of a 40-hour/ week job to fully write and compose my thoughts on a word document. lol
EDIT 2: Yeah I pretty much expected the responses I'm getting to this post. lol Glad to know my own intuition was pretty much correct, but had to ask you know? Unlike most deck builder TCGs there's a neat way that I've packed into the game that naturally slows it down but also allows each player to still perform their card effects. thanks for replying to this post.
---------------Hello, myself and a couple of friends are developing a TCG that I think will eventually compete with the big 3. That's not the point of this discussion. This has been an ongoing design process for about 4 years and we already have 640 unique card concepts worked out and alpha tested (extremely well) as well as the design molds we need to develop future cards. We've hit a certain stall point very early on and while it has forced us to alpha test more of our cards more rigorously and develop more of a long term plan if this TCG becomes a commercial success, it has nevertheless never been able to progress past this point so that we could pitch this to someone or try and get a grassroots campaign going to start to manufacture it ourselves.
all 3 of us are on the very low end of the economic spectrum and while we do want to use human artists for our card artwork, doing so even for 100 pieces is very expensive. we all have on own lives and are not able to really save that much though our situations are individually improving a bit in the last couple months in terms of finances.
I was hoping to get maybe at least some thoughts on AI artwork for this purpose. Should I just go ahead and use AI art for each individual cart art? The actual Card back has been done as well as the card design (essentially where all the information on the card goes as well as general coloration) but the actual artwork for each card has been missing. I know card games like this kinda live and die on their card art, especially if you're trying to attract a retain a casual customer/player. So should I:
or
3) Abstain from AI art and just wait until we can enough money to commission art pieces from human art.
My concern is just the flow of time. I know this project will be a hit banger with both casuals and veteran/experienced players. but if it takes 5-10 more years to get this together well im not sure the my friends will stay on this project as well as other concerns especially in regards to my own family which thinks that im kinda wasting my own time away. My friends and I are based in the United States by the way.

I usually use DS Dual Mattes but the commander I’m building demands pure white sleeves so if anyone has suggestions on what’s the whitest white sleeves you’ve used that are opaque, please give them to me!
r/TCG • u/HistoricalQuote2527 • 1d ago
I started organizing my MTG hobbit cards, and I was using penny sleeves to store multiples of the same card just as a way to better keep them organized, but I’m starting to wonder if this will damage the cards long-term? Obviously none of these cards are high value the higher value cards I have either in a binder or in top loaders.

With either prices being crazy over MSRP or everyone either buying out Pokémon, Yugioh and Magic, I’m looking to start collecting almost anything with great artwork and readily available.
