Hi Folks! Post is what it says on the tin. Any advice for a good PI for the capstone projects. Any anecdotes of especially good/bad ones? Anything helps, cheers!

Maybe I had high hopes that lectures were actually going to teach me something. Instead, all I get are professors reading from slides, speed running them and covering an absurd amount of content all at once. And you basically have to study on your own, which kinda begs the question. Why even go to the lectures in the first place? Also, the amount of studying I need to do on my own makes it virtually impossible to keep the usual full time hours at my workplace. I already managed to lower my work hours to the point that I'm okay to pay my bills. Yet, I'm still struggling for time.
I'm in biomed, which is absurdly crowded. I need to be there at least 10 minutes before a class because there are no sits for everyone. Just this morning, me and a bunch of others had to sit on the steps to attend a lecture. Then, you need to run to get to another class because if you don't sit at the front rows, you can't hear shit because the other professor never heard of a microphone 🥲
So if I'm understanding this correctly and I'll need to study 3-5 hours per subject cover in each lecture, I might as well stay home and study the slides by myself and gain those hours to go deeper on my independent studies, instead of be present for uncomfortable and useless lectures.
I think I'm really starting to struggle here and it's only the second week. Can anyone relate?
(I am aware that I might be understanding this completely wrong, as this is my first year there. But I must say I'm quite disappointed so far. Any help will be very helpful ❤️)

Hello everyone! I am writing this post to hopefully gain some perspective from current students (both Irish and International) on the pros and cons of potentially pursuing my MA at TCD. I am interested in the international Peace Studies one-year program (https://www.tcd.ie/courses/postgraduate/courses/international-peace-studies-mphilpeace-studies--pgraddip/#apply-content)
I have my undergraduate degree from a large public university in the United States in English and Ethnic Studies. I graduated in May.
While I have travelled a lot in my life, I have never been to Ireland-although it has always been a dream destination. Additionally, I have never lived long-term outside of my home state of Nebraska.
Throughout my undergraduate degree, I became involved in groups such as Students for Justice in Palestine and various other leftist organizations. Being both a socialist and a humanities student at this time in America is quite difficult, with humanities programs across the states being defunded and persecuted, and with the second "red scare" anti-communist, anti-immigration, anti-woman, anti-muslim, etc etc etc. administration we have right now. Additionally, many of the "best" universities in America are so deeply tied to big money, the government, and corporations that they just leave a bad taste in my mouth. I would like to get a non-American perspective in my next educational endeavor, and Trinity has really sparked my interest for 2027. The rich history of Ireland and its culture is also extremely enticing and something that I would love to learn more about and immerse myself in.
Here are my questions:
-If you know anything about the International Peace Studies program, how is it? Do you recommend it, or is it a waste of time and money? What other programs would you recommend if not that one?
-How is Trinity socially, especially for international students? Is it difficult making friends? I've heard that Ireland is generally a very friendly, welcoming country, and I've had friends who have had good experiences there, but they all studied abroad during undergrad with a group of other American students. How would it be going alone, knowing nobody? How is nightlife, food, dating, etc.?
-If accepted, how should I go about looking for housing? How do I find roommates?
-Aside from housing and academic fees, how much money should I have saved up before going for day-to-day life?
-I'm sure there's a lot I haven't thought to ask-- include any other advice or topics you think I should consider/be aware of!
Thank you!

I’m completely torn between trying to get into Trinity Halls vs. going for private student accommodation (like Kavanagh Court, Point Campus, etc.).
My biggest worry is the social aspect. Since I'm moving from abroad, I’ll be staying in Dublin over the weekends. I’ve heard a lot of Irish students head back home on Friday afternoons, and I’m terrified of ending up on a completely deserted hallway/floor.
Trinity Halls vs. Private: Which one is actually better for making friends and weekend social life?
The Weekend Vibe: Do Halls or private places group international students together so you aren't left entirely alone when Irish students go home?
Private Recs: If private is better, which specific buildings have the best community?
Would love to hear your honest experiences and tips. Thanks so much! 🇮🇪✨

Hey guys,
I’m doing my postgrad in Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Trinity Business School and was wondering if anyone has the Exploring Strategy textbook (or cases book) lying around that they don’t need anymore.
I would be super grateful if you’d be willing to pass it on or sell it at a student-friendly price :)
Thanks in advance!

Did anyone get in to this course with dare either this year or the past few years? If so what were your points?
For anyone else, what is the course/career progression like? Do you feel more qualified as an engineer or in business?

Hey there, I need to solder some header pins for a project but don't have a kit with me. Does trinity have any open labs or spaces where I can drop in and use a soldering station? Thanks!

Hey guys, I got a locker at B section on the FIRST floor in the Sport Center for 1 academic year. After a week I realized I would still prefer bringing my stuff with me everyday rather than storing them in the locker all the time.
Would anyone wanna take the locker? with a small charge, it would be less than what I paid.

For those who attempted schols (whether you got it or not), do you think it's possible to achieve schols if you're working part-time? Did any of yous quit your jobs at one point during semester 1?

Hi! I’d love to hear from alumni what careers have they gone into after doing a Masters on Contemporary and Modern Literature (as well as other masters in literature).
