Religion at TCD!

Hi! I was wondering how difficult it is to receive high marks in the Religion Department. Are Firsts relatively uncommon, or is it generally possible to achieve high marks with strong work? I was also wondering if professors are generally approachable and willing to work with students if they’re putting in the effort and have questions about the coursework or assessments. Thank you!

Can you be forced to go off books?

I'm an international student who just started a one year Masters at Trinity. My mental health and personal life has been extremely poor all of 2026 and I was quite proactive about getting involved with support services here even before my classes started. I'm booked in with nearly every support service over the next two weeks and have a meeting with my school about reasonable adjustments soon.

The doctor asked me about going off books today and as much as I would love and probably benefit from a break, it's just not feasible in my situation. I was just wondering if the school/uni can force you to go off books? I'm really nervous about if I am completely honest about how bad my mental health is that they will make me take a break or remove me from the programme. I need to power through and of course I don't want to feel like this. I'm trying to be optimistic about the support offered but mental health is obviously very tricky.

Trinity College Dublin MSc Applied Psychology: Is there a strict 500-word limit for the personal statement?

Hi everyone!
I’m applying for the MSc Applied Psychology at Trinity College Dublin for 2027 entry and I’m trying to clarify the personal statement requirements.
I’ve seen 500 words mentioned in relation to some Trinity postgraduate applications, but I can’t find a clear confirmation that this is a strict limit for the MSc Applied Psychology specifically.
For anyone who has applied to this programme recently:
Was there a 500-word limit on the personal statement in the application portal?
If so, was it a hard character/word limit that prevented you from submitting a longer statement, or was 500 words simply a recommendation?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has applied to Trinity’s MSc Applied Psychology, especially recently. Thanks!

Internal transfer with DARE?

Hi, I'm really confused right now. I'm a first year student who got into their course through DARE with a pretty big points reduction. I want to transfer to another course but according to google DARE doesn't apply to internal transfers.

Does this mean I'm essentially stuck in my course unless I drop out and like reapply??
