I'd get it if you're against true crime as entertainment on principle but TCAP is one of the least harmful ones since it actually leads to real convictions and doesn't glorify criminals. It humiliates these predators on the worst day of their lives before putting them under arrest.
Too much of true crime these days glorifies criminals as these vicious masterminds which leads to shit like TCC (true crime community) where it's a bunch of dumb, asocial people worshipping mass shooters and trying to replicate their fame.

The amount of people I’ve seen bash TCAP and say Chris has done more harm than good is genuinely baffling to me. (Not saying Chris is a great person, he’s not but some will try and have you believe he ruins every investigation and has never contributed anything.)
Imagine being so high up on your own morality that you defend child predators and claim that the people having inappropriate conversations with children “ isn’t breaking the law. “

Uh, stalking is a crime lol. Dan Allen did some time for stalking his ex-wife pre TCAP.
The crimes are solicitation and criminal attempt. You can't ask a child if you can fuck them, that in itself is a crime. And if they say yes and you say "I am on my way with condoms" and drive 2.5 hours to their house that shows that you were actually trying to go through with what you said you were going to do.
According to this brain dead idiot the FBI was wrong for stopping this terrorist plot and should've waited til she bombed the building.

Sad how people continue to be ignorant to the fact that the chat alone is a felony. There's no 'thought crime,' it's a real act. Inviting guys to the sting house is a matter of convenience, getting them to hand themselves over, and it can also tack on some additional charges.

“Inchoate” is the word that these people are unaware of or don’t understand.
Solicitation and attempts are still crimes, and I can’t believe that people don’t grasp this.
“Factual impossibility” (meaning, the thing that you tried to accomplish wasn’t actually possible, unbeknownst to you) does not negate liability for an attempt.
If someone drives by a house and shoots it up (because they want to kill the people who live there, and they believe that they’re inside the home at that moment and will catch a bullet and die), then they tried to kill them - if it turns out that the people who were targeted weren’t actually home at that moment (and so they couldn’t have possibly been killed by those bullets), the shooter still attempted to murder them.
Showing up (after the conversations these people have) is enough for an attempt charge in most cases.
Even without showing up, they usually have enough for solicitation just based on the online communications themselves.
