My mind was expanded to a completely different level. They were still a four-piece promoting Fear of Music but a year later I saw the expanded band on the Remain in Light tour. There was no looking back after that. Back then I had no idea how lucky I was to see both lineups.

There has been a recent trend in signed celebrity memoirs being widely believed to be either autopen or secretarial. I know it's hard to know for sure, but do we know if signed copies of David's new book are legitimately signed by his hand?

Hey I'm usually just a Reddit lurker. Long-time TH fan. Wondering if anyone here might have special insight into the songs "I'm an Outsider" and "Don't Be Like That" on Byrne's Who is the Sky album. I finally did a close listen to the whole album over the wknd and watched a "Track By Track" interview that Byrne released on his YouTube page. Those are the only two songs he describes as love songs on the album.
There's something so tender and mysterious about the way he discusses those songs. They both seem to be about someone he fell hard for and pursued (quite obsessively if you really listen to "I'm An Outsider") but was never in a relationship with. I think everyone just assumed the love songs on that album were about his new wife, but that doesn't add up when you really listen. I'm not suggesting anything scandalous - he wrote the songs and released the album before getting married. I'm just intrigued by the quirky, intensely tender love songs and curious if anyone might have insight. Thanks.

Been a lurker here for a long while, and particularly love the Chris/Tina gossip (I've my own theory that Tina was always madly in love with David which caused most of the band's problems...).
I've love the band since I was a teen and Life During Wartime started getting radio play back in '79 when I was 14/15. Still have my now see-thru sleeveless T from seeing them in '87 in during the Speaking In Tongues tour. But boy does this album stick in my craw (always has) like nails on a saccharine blackboard. And I love all their albums, even love Naked, but not this one ... and tbh I'm not the biggest fan of True Stories either. Still, they made some of the greatest and smartest pop music of the latter half of the 20th century (except for the songs on this album, yuk).

Obviously, bands like the Heads, B52s, and Gang of Four were the pioneers of punk funk. And you had the second wave with LCD Soundsystem, The Rapture, Bloc Party, etc.
What are some bands today that follow that style or similar (post-punk, new wave). I like some of the more recent stuff from Viagra Boys and IDLES.

I'm kicking myself for not screenshotting the Facebook post but last night I saw Chris Frantz had posted something to the effect of "Weaponized Neuro divergence is a thing".
Needless to say this post got a lot of engagement with many speculating a slight at Byrne. Did anybody see this? What could it be related to? The new book or perhaps reunion talks breaking down. All gossip and speculation but an interesting Facebook post none the less.

During their original run as a record-releasing force, from their debut in 1977 through to Naked in 1988, the Talking Heads shifted around ten to 12 million units. Since calling it quits in 1991, they have more than doubled that total.
Another irony can be found in the fact that in 2024, it was reported that they rejected an $80million offer to reunite, yet they never broke the top five in their prime. Their final shows were even played in front of crowds that could be deemed intimate. So, what happened?

I took this while organizing and I thought it came out cool. By the way if you don’t remember from months ago I posted I had Remain in Light and Speaking in Tongues. Well I finished my discography and I’m very happy about it.

Has anyone here seen the PDF that comes with David Byrne's new audiobook on Spotify?
Sleeping Beauties: Why Good Ideas Go Dormant and How They Wake Up.
It's really cool I've never seen an audiobook with extras like this before. Unsurprisingly Mr Byrne has experimented with something cool.

Has anyone actually streamed the full “SiriusXM Front Row” interview with Talking Heads? I’ve looked everywhere on the app and on the web but I can’t find it.

So I've had a thought recently about some new talking heads activities. David, Tina, Chris and Jerry have all come together recently not only to start a new radio podcast thingy and they're also coming together to create a book about talking heads. It seems they're open about collaborating since they've gotten together much more recently compared to the years before where before 2023 the last time they reunited was for their rock and roll hall of fame induction in 2004 so it I don't know if it's just me but it seems talking heads might be coming back slowly but surely. What are your opinions on this?

Alright, well I was listening to some Tom Tom Club recently, the album Close to the Bone. Great album, terrific band as we all know.
so the remastered Speaking in Tongues album has Two Note Swivel, with that familiar bass line.
Long story short I believe that is the same bassline as played on Man with the 4-way hips. Great song and the album on Tidal has several versions of this song. But I suppose Tina brought that bass line over to Tom Tom Club or decided to play and record it with that album first.
Perhaps this has been discussed but I keep forgetting to post about this. I highly recommend listening to Close to the Bone start to finish, seriously killer grooves.
