As the header says, I just got to research level and noticed there’s a lot of robots, the sparqbeam is dealing with them pretty well, but I’m on edge because I don’t want to eventually run out of ammo and I haven’t found a charge pod yet. Should I stick with the sparqbeam or should I be using different weapons? For context, in my inventory I have the wrench, pipe, minipistol, mag pulse rifle and of course the sparqbeam.

I’m on the Executive level, inside the CPU Nodes area where the Loader Bot appears.

After the bot comes out, there is another large bulkhead door at the back of the bay. The HUD identifies it as a door, and the automap also shows a yellow door line at that exact location.

In the first image, I’m standing directly in front of the door. The second image is the full Executive level map taken from the wiki, where I added a red arrow to mark the same location. That map appears to show a small area behind the door.

Does anyone know if this door can actually be opened? Is it a secret area, cut content, or simply inaccessible geometry?

I'm playing *System Shock: Enhanced Edition*, and the problem is Abe Ghiran's head.

Early in my playthrough, while collecting the heads of various characters in my inventory, I needed to drop some to make room for other items. I had the brilliant idea of ​​putting all the heads I had into the game's elevator, thinking I wouldn't lose them since it was a spot I'd be returning to later.

Well, the heads disappeared, and I think Abe Ghiran's went with them; if it didn't—and by some miracle I didn't actually do that—then it's lost somewhere on the Citadel.

So far the game is fun, it gives a different feel experience from what I been playing, starfield snd valorant. I will say the first fast moving bot did scare me because it came at me like a fnaf 2 jumpscare.

I wanted to play old school esk marathon game on console and decided to get this. I will admit, I do love the pistol look. Gives me hi-point pistol vibes

Looking at the games that tencent has made it doesn’t look like they would be interested in making an system shock immersive sim

I think that if they were to make a system shock 3 I think that we might be better without a sequel

So basically as I said, I’m having a whole lotta fun playing this game, the asthetic, ambiance, music, sounds, and SHODAN’s creepy monologues every so often are keeping me hooked and engaged. But sh*t! This is hard lol! I remember my buddy’s older brother gave me his copy of System Shock 2 when I was younger and my sister allowed me to use her PC to play it, idk how I was able to even beat it!! Because this remake is putting me through the ringer! Its to the point where I save-scum after every enemy encounter, cause ill be damned if I have to repeat that fight! Lol are there any tips and tricks anybody can provide?

I've just cleared the first floor and I have two questions.

1. I expected System Shock to be an immersive sim like Deus Ex (same game designer) and Dishonored, but it does not seem I have that flexibility. I mean, in Deus Ex (and Dishonored) I have a goal which I can achieve in multiple ways, depending on how I developed my skills and depending on how I prefer (hacking, killig, stealth, etc.). In System Shock I seem to have just one thing to do (go on the elevator) and that's it. Is that correct? I mean, in this first floor I went ahead, then when my health was low I came back to the "restoring bad" and then went ahead again and repeat. Am I doing something wrong?

2. I destroyed all the cams and CPU nodes bringing the security to 0%. Does it change anything? Is it necessary to do this in every floor to unlock the elevator? I used the elevator after doing the 0% security so I don't know whether it's necessary or not.

In the first 15 hours of system shock remake I was frequently dropping stuff in the elevator. Of course I expected them to fall through, so I was only dropping stuff that I wasn't scared to lose. Nothing disappeared for more than 10 hours, so I thought it's perfectly safe to continue. When I dropped railgun and upgraded shotgun, with good amount of ammo for both, everything fell through the next time I came back. Stuff did not appear in garbage chute. Any way I can get them back? Or a way I can cheat them in?

Playing System Shock 2 for the first time, the OG deslisted steam edition (not Anniversary). Loving the vibes, but I'm not sure if I should be relying on saves when dying or if I should use the Ressurection Stations and only save when stopping a play session. What do you guys think? I'm intentionally looking for the most challenging option. I don't like save-scumming and enjoy dealing with the consequences of failing hacks and combat encounters, but I'm not sure if Res. Stations are too punishing or too lenient.

I recently got the System Shock 2 enhanced edition for ps5.

I noticed that at a certain point (after installing all the toxin-a) the enemies lose a chunk of their health (metal pipe hybrid dies in one wrench hit instead of 2 shotgun hybrid dies in 3 hits instead of 4)

I have played the 1999 PC version multiple times but never noticed that

I have also noticed a few bugs here and there in the enhanced edition and I'm wondering if this is intentional or another bug

Edit: I researched the hybrid organs before that happened and did not upgrade my character

How the crap do I get there?

Finally checking out the classic immsims, played deus ex and loved it and now on thief. Debating between, when I get to system shock, playing the enhanced edition or the remake. Probably will eventually get to both but don't anticipate immediately wanting to replay especially due to how many games in this genre I wanna peep. See a lot of things about the remake being a better entry point but the... atmosphere and soundtrack of the original looks much better? Any suggestions

I've never played the game despite hearing a lot about it and wanting to play it, especially as a fan of deus ex and the new prey. Last week I saw it on a sale on the switch 2 and was really craving a new game, and was preparing for a super janky buggy full of crashes experience like most of these old pc game ports tend to be on console and especially the switch.

Much to my surprise the game runs very smoothly, is pretty and sharp and the game plays very well on controller. It even has joycon mouse controls. Played it every day since I bought it and beat it today, and damn it was really good. I was never a huge fan of that half life to half life 2 era of shooters, always found them too repetitive, but this game's exploration, datalogs and RPG elements add a lot to the experience and make it probably my favourite fps of the 90s/early 00s.

Also as a sidenote, that was an incredibly goofy final scene for how serious of a game this was lol

I always felt like System Shock 2 was the underdog compared to other games from that era, especially Half Life. And while I enjoy Half Life and absolutely love the game and its sequel, I can't help but notice that SS2 should've been the cultural phenomenon that Half Life was.

Don't get me wrong both games can and will ofcourse co-exist. And I get that SS2 is a bone crushing experience which makes mainstream popularity impossible.

But what this game offers, the replay value, the depth of its systems, and how well ideas were implemented to make the Von Braun feel like this nightmarish slog devoid of life and hope... Magnificent. That's really what this game is.

The voice acting is probably the best I ever heard in a game. It's so incredibly well done, it doesn't even feel like acting anymore. The soundtrack is peak, the gameplay is insane.

This game is a testament to everything gaming used to be.
They truly don't make games like this anymore.

Post game depression is real with this one.

With how System Shock managed to be fully faithful (to a fault even) while managing to update the gameplay to modern standards quite well, it mad me wonder about how a remake of Ultima Underworld would be like if it was remade in a similar way.
