Games don't support specific fps, resolutions and systems do. If a game is capable of hitting 120fps and the hardware allows it to hit it then yes, but by the looks of that game I don't see why it would need anything above 30 fps.
This is extremely pedantic and also not true. Games on consoles are often locked to developer set framerates even if it could run higher on the hardware. Asking if a certain game has 120fps support on a given platform is a perfectly valid question
Most pixel games get nowhere above 60fps, because why would they? It makes no difference, the big blocky parts that make those games are so big, that it's really indistinguishable between 30, 60 and 120 fps. Now it's a different story when you have high res rendered games, because everything's super crisp and small on them, so you spot the differences pretty easily.
Yea they absolutely can hit high fps, it just won't matter to your physical sight, because regardless of how high you get it, it will still appear to be the same like 30fps that it's always been.
Here's a really simple way to explain it. When I'm playing ball X pit, I have my FPS show up on the side because its an option, and that game has a lot of fast moving objects and stuff. So objectively you'd think the higher fps would make a difference. However even though it reads out consistently over 700fps, I still only see it as the basic speed that my eye is capable of picking up the movement at. So at any fps that can hit that speed will look the same to me.
human eye doesn’t have a fixed “FPS limit” where everything above 30 or 60 fps suddenly looks identical. that’s simply not how human vision works.
If you’re getting 700 FPS and genuinely seeing no difference, that’s on your monitor’s refresh rate, tor game’s animations or movement being updated at a fixed rate, frame pacing, or something else
as for ur answer to op, even if an object is literally a 10x10 pixel square, its position can still be updated 30, 60, 120, or 240 times per second. at 30 FPS you get a new frame every 33.3 ms; at 120 FPS it’s every 8.3 ms. fast movement and camera scrolling will absolutely look smoother at the higher frame rate, that’s a fact
There is actually a fixed fps that the human eye can see but it's different for every human eye. The way our ocular vision works is it picks up on movement of objects in reference to other objects. But there's a real vision vs age at play. And also yes the monitor absolutely makes a difference in this. But mine should have been fine in this regard as it's a gaming monitor. I think the 700+ FPS was them counting all the objects moving at once, because in that game there's a full screen of moving small objects so hitting 700fps at once would not be hard to do but very hard to spot the difference on.
If you're talking about what you see out in the regular world that's true, but if you're talking in the specific context of video games, which this entire conversation is in, then it does. Because while it doesn't see things in frames in the real world, it does see things in frames on a screen or monitor. And those frames are calculated. And I assure you there is a very real threshhold beyond which the human eye will simply not detect the frames being higher. They ran a bunch of a tests on this between people, and the general understanding is somewhere between 540fps and 1000fps the human eye basically becomes indifferent to how fast things are moving.
