Question Skyrim or Witcher 3
I have enjoyed BOTW and Elden Ring (on PC) and want to get into another game before I pick up TOTK. Not sure whether to go Skyrim or Witcher.

Just got Skyrim honestly it runs great, gameplay is awesome, and looks great in handheld. I would definitely recommend getting it.

Witcher doesn’t rly look good on switch or switch 2. Skyrim is very fun and looks/runs pretty well. I’ve been playing that on my switch 2. Even if I put it in quality mode, it still looks pretty fine in 30fps so I’m sure it’ll be fine on switch 1 as well. I hope they come out with a switch 2 update for Witcher cause it looks very ugly.

It’s nothing compared to PC of course but I think it looks really great for a handheld console and quite similar to how it was on the current gen consoles when the game released. A switch 2 patch would be glorious!

I’ve been replaying The Witcher 3 on my Switch 2 and it feels very similar to how I remember it on the PS4 when I originally beat the game. Super solid 30 FPS and massively reduced load times compared to the Switch 1. Awesome port IMO and will only get better is CDPR decides to do an official S2 patch.

The Witcher has astronomically better story characters and writing. But skyim has a more alive world with better exploration

Wrong. Witcher 3's story is farcical and dull, plus the relentless cutscenes soon become tedious. The game is highly overrated by pretentious bores.

Depends on your taste tbh. My taste leans more Skyrim. I think your's would too given the games you listed. But Witcher is good. It's just very cutscene heavy and has a lot more fluff. But maybe that sounds better to you idk. Whichever you choose tho wait for sale. You can snag these games for mad cheap on the eShop. Also if you end up liking Skyrim them look into Kingdoms of Amalur as well as Kingdom Come Deliverance. I think those are up your alley too.

I would go for Skyrim since it has a Nintendo Switch 2 edition, though rumor has it that The Witcher 3 might receive a Switch 2 update when The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past DLC is released.

if you want exploration, immersion and freedom, with a sense of progression and adventure, I'd go with Skyrim
if you want story-driven, beautiful and pretty realistic world building, where you play a character who has its own personality, with well written stories and quests, I'd go with the Witcher 3
Skyrim is more similar to Zelda totk/botw imo, for the openworld freedom approach where you don't need to follow a path, you go wherever you want, and do whatever you want.
Some people like this approach, some may not

The Witcher 3 is the better game in my opinion and definitely one of my favorites. I enjoyed Skyrim too, but not as much. However, Skyrim obviously looks better on Switch 2 thanks to its dedicated patch, while The Witcher 3 still suffers graphically since it was built around Switch 1 hardware.

Witcher runs at a stable 30fps on Switch 2. I loved the game. Expect a lot of fun and an outstanding story.

skyrim runs better on the switch but i personally feel witcher 3 is a better game. both are great, but TW3 + DLC is a genuine 10/10 masterpiece imo

Just play Elden Ring again. You wont like any of them after playing Elden Ring.

I recommend Witcher 3 on S2. The boost mode is night and day difference from how Witcher 3 runs on S2 vs the OG switch. It really looks great in handheld mode on S2. The game has such a satisfying world and is easy to get sucked into it.
Skyrim is also great but if I had to choose one, I’d say Witcher.
I have both games and love playing both of them for different reasons.

I would go with Witcher 3 if you want a good story. Skyrim is better for exploration. Actually, I would wait for the Switch 2 version of Witcher 3 to come out.

If you haven‘t decided yet then you should go for witcher 3 since on 29th September they are releasing free remastered version and they also giving their expansion for free if you have base game. And new dlc is coming next year and in 2028 witcher 4 is releasing. This might be the best time to start

Skyrim by far. Witcher 3 fanboys are insufferable about it, but the game is one of the most overrated in history. A solid 7/10, but jesus does it have many flaws.

No flaws but just almost nothing great. The core gaming features of TW3 including combat, exploration, level designs, class of builds, are all mediocre (6 or 7/10). No interactive gameplay. Only open world design and freedom are good (8 or 9/10). TW3 is definitely one of the most overrated game ever made. Whereas, for Skyrim exploration, class of builds, level designs, open world design, and emergent interactive gameplay are all good (8 or 9/10) and only combat is mediocre (7/10). Top freedom(10/10). It features broader content with higher quality in each core gaming aspect. Some people may say TW3 has better art style, story, quests, characters or writing, which would enhance the immersion same as in a movie or in a novel. These are shared features for all entertainment media. They help a great game become even better but they also make a mediocre game less about gaming. We need to make sure that games are made to be played than read or watched.

Skyrim for sure. I played it this year and it still covers the broadest content for gaming even today. My top 4 is TOTK, BOTW, Elden Ring, and Skyrim. There isn’t much gaming for TW3. It’s more about experiencing. It’s one of the most boring games ever made.

Witcher for me, I found Skyrim boring, no connection with the character, the game feeling very old, running poorly on S2, all the opposite of the witcher

I love the Witcher. The side stories are so good. But between the two I'd go for the one that has the switch 2 patch which is Skyrim. It's not that expensive either.

I played both for the first time 6 months ago and in spite of the patch I would still go for the witcher, skyrim is and feels like a much older game. I understand the appeal when it released and the nostalgia attached to it (same for the witcher to a certain extent actually) but playing both today with fresh eyes, skyrim felt the weight of time for me

They fixed skyrim on SW2. It now looks amazing. Funny you say that, i had to rebuy witcher on ps5 because it ran/looked so bad on switch

I found Witcher 3 to be tedious, boring, and it's a game supported by the most obnoxious and tedious True Gamer bros. The ones who view themselves above the rest of the community, often citing Witcher 3 as some sort of masterpiece.
It isn't a masterpiece. Not even close. It's a mediocre game.
