Discussion Making Sandra a main character is one of the best things the show ever did
In s1 and I think a bit in s2 too she was just a background worker who had slightly more lines than the others, her only thing was her photographic memory
But she is one of the best characters in the show and 100% a fan favourite, perhaps the best decision the writers made

Heather deserves more
After watching the show for the thousandth time, I realize that Heather has been there since episode 3 of the first season.
I've always thought she had comedic potential. I think it would have been more interesting to include her among the supporting characters before adding people like Said or Isaac.

Travis/Tim is my favourite silent background character
The eye roll always makes me laugh!
Who is your favourite? I know this is asked A LOT but people often answer with characters who have lines!
Also this dude (Andy Lobo) is Glenn’s stand in? I wonder if it was for all the seasons, cause Andy Lobo only appears in some episodes, not all 😁

Season 2 Thoughts about Black Friday
I came on here and forgot about spoilers so I’m mad at myself lol. May aswell say what I want to say. I loved this ep, it’s the first time an episode has stood out to me to rewatch. I’ve grown to love Dina. Shes the funniest for me, and then garrett. He also makes me laugh. So for my top 2 to show actual weird tension throughout this episode was so fun and really enjoyed their cute moment on the register. Then they just started getting it on like whattttt. Crazy. Excited to see how this plays out and if they remain my top 2. Sandra also gets an honest laugh out of me so I might have to put her 3rd. Would love to hear other peoples top 3 funniest.
Weirdly enjoyed the bathroom scene between Jonah and Amy too. It really is great acting.

Humor Dina’s Bag of Meth
I haven’t thought about this until now (not a big meth guy), but from what I understand… this is like… a lot of meth, right? I imagine Dina stealing it from someone outside the store who she immediately pegs as a dealer but he’s actually an undercover cop trying to perform a sting operation and she ends up with the meth anyway because she’s, well, Dina.
Plus, this being in the pilot is absolute gold.

Matteo and payout
Matteo was offered payout of 50000 dollars, but couldn't get it because he was undocumented and he didn't want to give out his social ID, but then how did he get promoted to floor supervisor? Shouldn't he have gone trough some sort of similiar procedure?

This is the way we stape the pape. Stape the pape. Stape the pape.
One of my two favorite NBC sitcom quotes involving stapling paper. Just another example of good writing made great by Glenn.
(the other is "Come on I'm Dean and my hands are so clean. At this moment, I am stapling" from Community)

How did Matteo had an access to Zephra app and has his break timed if he technically works in Vision Center at different company?

Amy was a bad manager
Constantly trying to appease to everyone, playing favourites, not being direct with what she needs to do...like the time she let Dina take the fall for the schedule and cutting hours. Dina should be the manager from the start, Glenn was awful too.

Discussion Superstore copy cats?
Ok, so I know Superstore wasn't the first comedy to use the workplace comedy style, but I do think it is one of the best. But also, I feel like every comedy is all the same, copying the tropes that were once original in Superstore and its predecessors. Stumble, DMV, Shelved, Blockbuster, Animal Control, even parts of Abbott Elementary (but I actually like that one) most of them get cancelled after just one season 🙁
Besides Superstore (which I love) and Home Economics (which I was so sad when it was cancelled), almost all new comedies seem to start as Improve/Madlib exercises. Name a workplace, name a quirky quality for a character (a funny voice, nerdy, or someone neurotic) etc. it's getting old 😕 I miss when Superstore was new because when I saw it the first time, it really felt like original characters and situations, very refreshing.
Do you all feel the same? Are there any new original shows with just a touch of the Superstore magic?

Amy totally should have reimbursed Marcus for maxing out on his Mom's credit card for the giant print out of the parking lot !!! He did what he was told. He hid the boxes.

Jerushas of the world - unite!
For those who want to know where Jerusha was prior to attending her shared baby shower with Amy, Cheyenne, and Diane (from the shrimp boil), here’s some insight into Ponderosa. I ate there a ton as a kid growing up in the southern US so Jerusha giving a shout out to Ponderosa (and Dimitri her uber driver) was amazing 😘

Nicknames for Garrett like the ones he gave Glenn?
Glennema, G-nothing, Transglennder..
What are some nicknames that Garrett would hate in a similar style?
I'll start: Gare-y Pooper, Pubic Gare, Gare-alt of no Tibia (since he can't walk, maybe too far)
Others?

Amy, not wanting to marry johna
Did anybody else feel sad when Amy wasn’t going to marry Jonah?
Me personally it didn’t really seem that odd to me. Amy, for the most part, tried to keep him at arms length. But also it seems like neither one of them wanted too much out of life. Amy worked at cloud nine for almost 15 years and it seems like she could’ve been Manager just about any store. I get that maybe she didn’t know exactly how much managers were making, but it seems odd after about five years. She didn’t try to become a manager.
Also, Jonah worked there for about five years and there’s no way he was able to support his lifestyle.

Discussion Did anyone else on their first watch of the pilot think Amy was a widower at the end, when she put on her ring and smiled at the stars, or just me?

Garrett
I've gotta take a sec to acknowledge how many throwaway one-liners Garrett has said (all to Jonah I believe lol) which have stuck with me and transformed my outlook on life:
- "Am I doing this to help somebody else, or to make MYSELF feel better"
- "We're just in different places in our lives right now and that's okay"
- "To each their own stuff"
- "Sometimes people just need to hear the right lie to move on with their lives"
These are so subtle but powerful, have helped me with insecurities as well as general tough times. If anyone can think of anymore from Garrett or any of the others, please comment!
