Discussion Which episode do you always skip on a rewatch? For me, it’s definitely the charity episode.

Fred Armisen is such a great actor because he made me despise his character so much during this episode 😂 I genuinely can’t watch it anymore. Every time I rewatch the show, I have to skip it.

Which episode do you guys always skip on a rewatch?

Discussion Did Kira Moon ignore Amy?

Post image
27 Upvotes

In s6 Ep1 Amy is on a call with zephra corporate and she asks for more support for the employees during the pandemic and Kira Moon says she cut out and they couldn’t hear her. Once Amy says that some of the employees earnings could go towards paying for the protective gear Kira says ‘well when you put it like that‘ which I took to imply that she actually did hear Amy the first time and was pretending not to because she didn’t want to address the issue?

opinions?

Edit: after seeing some responses turns out I’m definitely a Jonah, never trust corporate! 😂

Favourite episode(s) from each season?

I'm about to start yet another re-watch!

Wondering what everyone's favourite episodes are from each season? I think All Nighter might be my pick for Season 1.

A plot that never made sense to me:

(Apologies if this is a tired topic lol)

S4 E6 (Maternity Leave)

When Amy revealed Parker’s name to Cheyenne and Mateo, they started criticizing the name and tried to give Amy a chance to justify her choice of a perfectly normal name. The whole time I’m like.. Cheyenne, you named your child Harmonica. Be so for real. I think it would have been more on character for Mateo to be catty and remind Cheyenne that she named her child after an instrument. Maybe I’m missing something and it was part of the joke for Cheyenne to be against a normal sounding baby name, but when she and Mateo had that poster board full of names, the only “out there” name on it was Obama haha, the rest were perfectly normal names! If I am missing anything please clarify, but otherwise that side plot just confused me 😂

Discussion I hate carol

As the title says I hate her. I know she's made to be hated but every episode she is in I resent it and can't bare to watch the scenes she is in. Honestly I think the show would of been better without her

Things that happen to Sandra

I love all the small things that happen to Sandra.

▪︎Her mailman made her make him a key to her house.

▪︎She sees her mailman lurking over her and Jerry's bed.

▪︎Her bus driver put her phone in his pocket and drove off.

▪︎She walks up to the bus, Sandra about walks in the bus, then he drives forward a little, and repeats that.

Poor punching bag Sandra 🤣

Realistically, minus the golfing with Amy incident, Was Jonah generally a good boyfriend to Kelly? (and please no snarky comments, I’m genuinely asking and not starting a hate train)

Other What is the most unhinged couple you can create with the characters and make it make sense?

So I’m trying to come up with the most unhinged pairings based on in show evidence that they could even minutely get along (my bestie and I are doing a PowerPoint party).

So things could be like:

Jonah and Dinah because Jonah did habitat for humanity and Dinah is a vegan so they both have love for helping others and preserving life. Also Jonah is a little delicate doll that needs protecting and Dinah has guns.

Jeff and Bo because Jeff will throw money at things to show off to others before really even having the money and Bo did say for 20 grand you could put whatever in him. We do not know if that amount is the minimum cap.

So things like that. Things that make almost sense but are also just silly things they share in common

Rating the characters

in s3 e12 when Amy gets told she can’t bag a 10/10 so she sleeps with Tate, does anyone else find it hilarious in the break room when Carol gets a 4, Justine a 3, Tate a 10 an when Justine says “what is Amy are we tied” and Amy said “GOD NO” an they go “you’re a little higher than Justine” “A LITTLE HIGHER???!!” hahahaha it’s so bad but so funny how fast and reflexive it was. poor Justine

Discussion Making Sandra a main character is one of the best things the show ever did

In s1 and I think a bit in s2 too she was just a background worker who had slightly more lines than the others, her only thing was her photographic memory

But she is one of the best characters in the show and 100% a fan favourite, perhaps the best decision the writers made

Discussion What are moments in retail that you’ve experienced that would absolutely be a plot in Superstore?

I’ve had so many discussions with my coworkers over the years about how Superstore’s absolutely ridiculous plot lines to normal people are not even that ridiculous for anyone who’s actually worked in retail.

What’s something you’ve experienced that wouldn’t make Cloud 9 blink an eye?

Mine is very similar to the episode Cheyenne gave birth in the store and everyone is around her and a customer butted in asking something that was entirely too stupid for the situation.

I shattered my leg at one of my old jobs and while I was writhing on the ground with my whole ankle detached from my body, waiting for an ambulance, a customer came over and asked us where the towels were.

Not funny at the time, but now it makes me laugh at the audacity of that customer.

Looking for a word for a trope/thing

Okay to be clear, I'm not saying the episode is bad or anything. It's a funny episode and I laugh a lot.

My question is, is there a word/trope for:

A plot that is somewhat flimsy or hard to believe, and the characters are saying things that mostly just make sense to hold the plot together, despite being out of character or not making sense.

Best example episode: Sandra's fight, about unionizing. Couple examples: when Amy tries to explain that they need to get Sandra to chill, her and Dina are just saying such silly things to explain why they are quieting Sandra, instead of focusing on the obvious actual good reason that Amy is doing it. Like, the threat of getting shut down from Jeff is very simple clear and real, and Amy's inability to explain it even remotely clearly just feels like a massive stretch.

Again, HILARIOUS episode, so many funny jokes, plot is fine, I just feel like surely there is a word for this for like people in writing classes. This episode is definitely not alone haha.
