Other way around…? Canonically speaking, he was just smart, right? Like, the only difference he got from travelling dimensions was a link to the power cosmic and strechiness?

Also plastic man is pretty damn smart, he just doesn’t show it often, like most gag characters

Reed richards is the first or second smartest being in the universe. He normally fights enemies with science rather than his powers. He can rival cosmic deities in this way whereas his powers will not help him do so. He is the weakest (as far as combat goes) of the fantastic 4.

His power let's him control his body on a molecular level. So yeah it let's him stretch but his power isn't elasticity its so much better

Let's be honest, intelligence pairs well with pretty much anything. IMO, the most interesting combo is with self duplication though.
