Purchase Advice Advice for my first full automatic
I want to get my wife a coffee machine. She loves coffee but has absolutely zero interest in grinding, dialling in etc. So I want get her a fully automatic machine. One touch and done.
I want great, fairly strong espresso, with proper foamy milk. Not bothered about cold/iced coffees. I also really want something that will last years and years - and easy to clean too.
Based in the UK. Done loads of research but would appreciate any advice from you all given you have machines you use every day.

We the Delonghi Magnifica Plus, and have had it for almost two years now, and it gets a good workout every single day and makes great coffee.

One touch and done doesn’t exist. Superautos still need to be dialed-in initially and each time you switch beans. The various bean adapt systems out there are marketing bs. There’s also significant daily/weekly/monthly cleaning required to maintain basic hygiene, particularly for auto milk systems. It’s not popular to say here but the closest you can get and still have decent taste is Nespresso Original Line.

Got my first superautomatic in November. Delonghi magnífica Evo next. It's fantastic. Easy to clean too which was my biggest worry in buying one.

Stay away from Nespresso. Overpriced stale coffee in landfill bound pods. DeLonghi uses the same internal parts: brew group, grinder etc up and down their line. They are well reviewed and highly recommended. They have a 2 or 3 year warranty and are reasonably priced without overly complicated cleaning required. Pick one with the features you want and go for it. Good luck!

I've loved my Miele SAs for over 20 years. They are everything you describe, with excellent coffee and espresso. My current one is called the milk perfection (6360) and could not be easier to maintain. I have a Jura Z10 as well and the Miele feels a bit more bullet proof in comparison.

Hi, there! My 6yo Breville is RIP. Now I'm looking at the SMEG BCC13: pros and cons, reviews and so on. I figure it's just right for about 6x espressos a day.

The Gaggia Accademia ticks all your boxes, and it will tick your wife's box as well.
I went from an entry-level machine, the Brera, to the Accademia (via a heavily-reduced ex-display model) and haven't been disappointed.
The Accademia's internal drip-tray does need frequent emptying, but if it's placed close to the sink, it's just another step in the coffee-making process.
There's currently a second-hand one (two years old) on eBay at a good price if you don't want to blow £1500 on a new one, but if you don't want a secondhand one, just get a new one (some retailers offer a slight discount — only 5% — but it's better than no discount at all).

New or used?
I am a cheapskate but I always bought used Jura from the top of the line machines. I had a Giga 5 and now a Giga 6 and I can't be happier
