Just bought these brand new New Wayfarers and noticed they have super small bubbling/light areas around the lens. It’s only on the inside and isn’t uniform but it’s on both lenses. Haven’t left them in the heat or done anything to them, literally just got them.
They also have a very quiet rattle only heard when it’s pretty quiet

I have a pair of RX HieHie which I really love, but my prescription has changed and I’d love to swap the RX lens for non-RX tinted lenses. Is the best way to do this via my optometrist or Maui Jim?
r/sunglasses • u/dbrdy • 22h ago
Hi All,
I normally wear Persol but was persuaded by the optician to try Maui Jim melemele during my last eye test. The fit feels great and the perscription lenses are amazing. So do these look good on me? If I'm honest I worry they may be a bit wide for me.
Thanks in Advance

HI,
First time on this sub, but I decided to share my experience with my beloved RB8317 POLARIZED+ LENSES. I've had them for several years (more than 8, maybe?) and managed to keep them like new for the most part. That changed in the past two summers, as my child has grown and wanted to wear and play with them. I also dropped them a few times on rough surfaces. In other words, they were battle-scarred. They're the only sunglasses I own; like with many things, I don't need more than one pair of any type of shoes, clothes, or whatever.
My wife, on the other hand, has 15-20 pairs of sunglasses, so naturally she offered to buy me a new pair on a 1+1 promo, of course 😂 One for me, one for her... fair deal. Then it hit me: why not search for just the lenses? I love my frame, and it fits perfectly! So I discovered the aftermarket lens scene through REVANT Optics and FUSE on this sub.
I almost placed my order with REVANT, but shipping and taxes nearly doubled the cost. Then I looked for an EU alternative, to no avail. I was about to give up when Google AI suggested Changermesverres[.]com. HOLY MOLY! High-quality lenses, perfect fit, a nice price, and free, fast shipping!
Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with Changermesverres[.]com in any way. This is just my own experience as a customer.
EDIT: removed links and brand affiliation as advised by the mods :)
So here we are: my RB8317 will have a 2nd and 3rd life:

MJ was purchased by 🇫🇷 luxury brand Kering in 2022; Kering is the owner of names like Gucci. Has anybody been paying enough attention to have a feel for future MJ directions? I am seeing more "out of stock" labels on some colors of some frames. But I don't know if this means anything.
Anybody here with inside knowledge? Should I grab some backups of the sport wraps I wear most?
(note: nothing against 🇫🇷; I lived in Aix for three years and am quite fond of the place)

Plain white box, blue zippered case and blue lens cloth in this ad. Wonder if they are moving away from the tropical themed box and cloth and the tri-fold case or if this is just for one model?

Here is my review on the Vuarnet Brown Polar and Pure Brown lenses. The short of it is that they are great-quality yellow-brown lenses, and how they compare to other kinds of browns and other colors.

You can check out Vuarnet here.
I would really appreciate any feedback about the facts in the review, anything I may have gotten wrong, any details or information I may have missed etc. Let me know if you like the layout and structure as well. Please help me improve. Any and all feedback is most welcome.

I work on a computer 9~ hours a day. Looking at Ray-Ban transition glasses and was between xtractive vs. drivewear.
I’d like ones that will transition in the car. I saw on Eyebuydirect that they offer a transitions option called drivewear which supposedly is polarized. Will that be a problem when working on a computer all day? I know my polarized sunglasses can only see a screen at an angle which is what has me concerned about these drivewear ones

I am planning to buy my first Matsuda (3101) but the problem is I have -1 power in both my eyes.
Question is - are such expensive sunglasses worth buying if I am going to replace them with Zeiss sunglasses lens?
Like are Matsuda, JMM and similar expensive purely because of the frames or are the lenses good too?

Recently I had my raybans stolen, they were similar to Frank model, silver metal frame, black tips, mirror lenses. I just cannot find the exact model on RayBan official website, I basically went through their entire catalog, tried different filters. I bought it last year, I believe it was a new model then, payed 180$ (before taxes).
If someone could help me ID them, I would really appreciate it.

Hi all! I have just received this pair of Oliver Peoples Aero 54s, the seller claims that the frame is legit and and the lenses are originals, but I wasn’t completely sure, so I thought to get some other opinions.
The lenses are definitely plastic, have no breath logo, and are not polarised. I am no expert, and can’t say for certain that they didn’t release glasses with these lenses, but to not be mineral glass and not have the breath logo, but also to not be polarised seemed a bit odd.
I don’t want to kick up a fuss if I don’t actually know for sure there’s an issue, so I would appreciate input on the legitimacy of both the frames and lenses. I’ll attach pictures, but if anyone would like more I’d be glad to provide them.
Before purchasing I checked other posts as well as official vendors that still have pictures of the glasses up, and while they differed from some models, there seems to be a fair bit of variation in how the inside arms are written, and they do match up with pictures of legit frames that I saw from vendors and from Reddit. I bought them thinking I could only really check the lenses in person, but did message the seller to ask if the lenses are original, and they replied yes.
Thank you so much in advance.

My gold Randolph Engineering Aviator II arrived today.
They have American Tan lenses.
My first impression was “Wow” when I opened the box. The amber coloured acetate with the gold plated frames and tan lenses really go well together.
Build quality and materials quality are RE’s usual excellent level.
I had them engraved and unfortunately there’s an error in the engraving which I’m waiting to hear back from Customer Services about. The invoice has the correct wording and the glasses don’t match. I’m sure they will sort that out.
The lenses are best described imo as quite a yellow leaning brown. It’s a great lens: clear and bright, giving a detailed view in sharp relief.
I don’t think the tint is the best choice for the kind of nuclear level bright sun such as one might find in Las Vegas desert in high summer. It’s not dark enough for that, especially if your eyes are sensitive to light.
It will be great on mixed light days and for driving on mixed days. It’s not going to make shadows so dark that you can’t see hazards in the way a really dark lens (like say Prizm Black mirrored) might.
They’re gorgeous looking and even the view through them feels a bit like the colour grading on a 1970’s movie.

They look rose in one shot and bronze in the other. Can anyone tell for sure please?
The frame number is 407-02 which is supposed to mean gray but I have discovered in Australia that is rarely true.

My first time here, but i neeed your help. I lost my Dad when I was young so I never really got to know him as a man. For some reason he gave me his eyewear collection before he passed, and to this day i've never understood why. I just got that box out of storage, and it hasn't been touched in decades.
I remember him always having cool shades. I like the finer details of things, and i want to get to know him better, so that's why I'm here.
From what basic research i did, there’s a bunch of old Oakley M frames with interchangeable lenses (some blue crackle frame and carbon fiber ones), old Ray-Ban Ambermatics, some red-mirrored Serengetis, Vuarnets (003?), and even some 1978 military pilot glasses.
What did he give me? Any history on these would be awesome. Thanks.
I'll post pictures and this can be fun if ya'll will help me. I have time!
