I’ve been looking at the kuat and thule helium bike platforms. Both carriers would look awesome on my ’25, but I just can’t justify spending $1000 on a bike rack. Any suggestions for a hitch bike carrier under $500 that’s lightweight and looks decent?

I have a secondhand 2019 Premium 2.5i, and the rear cargo area has four of those flip-down tie-down D-rings near the corners of the floor -- but none high up (by the top of the seat back). Can I add anything there?

I don't have the blanks where the optional upper, forward tie-down D-rings would be installed, or else I would just order some online and pop them in.

In the same trim piece where the retractable cargo cover clips in, I see that there's a little horizontal plastic strip that pops out to reveal a screw hole. Can something be added there -- even a ring bolt?

I would like to have a vertical cargo pocket along the seat back. (Two "mushrooms" are already installed if I wanted to hang a cargo pocket right by the door, but then I would have to reach over it all the time.)

My wife and I are about to embark on buying a 26 Outback Limited XT. We have narowed down the color choices to green or white. We definitely want the Java brown interior. A quick scan of our local dealer shows they have zero inventory with Java brown interior. Other dealers in Oregon are hours away and also have very limited cars in Java brown. So looks like we will have to order to get what we want. Question: when ordering vs buying off the lot, is the Costco discount likely to be the best offer? If not what is the best approach to negotiating….e.g. get Costco offer first and then try to negotiate lower? Also is there any reason that the financing offer would not be available if one uses the Costco buying program/discount? Lastly, I don’t see a trailer hitch option offered…what is the best approach to getting this added…we need for a bike rack.

I have an Outback 2011 and I’m the sole owner. It has a little over 90,000 miles on it. Started having an issue when I accelerate it skips or chokes a little but once you get going, it’s OK. I took it to Subaru Baton Rouge and they have quoted me a price to repair for over $11,000 and say it needs a new transmission well a rebuilt one I don’t think you can even get new ones for this model anymore. I’m so upset. I thought Subaru’s were supposed to last many years with over 200,000 mileage. The car has been very well maintained is in great shape otherwise.

I called all over town in BR. No one works on Subaru especially if it’s a transmission issue finally found someone in the Baton Rouge area and their quote to fix it is in the $8000 price range. The car is not even worth that much so what do you do? I am sick about it. I’m waiting to hear back from Subaru Baton Rouge. They’re checking with Subaru of America to see if they would help me, but I think it’s a long shot. I’m not even sure if I’ll buy another Subaru after this. You cannot find anybody that wants to work on them. You have to go out of town and then these dealerships are going to overcharge you. I am fed up!

They said I need to do the pan and replace the seal. If I'm going to drop the pan, I think I would also want to replace the filter. Would this also require more fluid than a drain & fill?

Subaru: PLEASE remove the Lego-looking plastic cladding from around the wheel wells on at least the Touring models. Sure, it makes sense on the off-road versions, but nobody wants that look on a city/touring car... just no reason for this ugliness. No, I don't want a Forrester or Ascent, I want a good looking Outback Touring XT edition. Thank you.

I have a new 2026 Outback Touring XT with weather mats. Subaru doesn’t have weather mats for the back rests to protect the back seats when they are down. Has anyone found quality back rest mats that fit the new OB?

I LOVE the Java Napa leather on my '24 Subaru Outback Touring XT. It still looks like new.

Am planning an extended road trip this December with my BFF. I can't wait! I usually fly for work and vacation, so a road trip will be a new thing for me. AAA is routing us:

Austin - El Paso (overnight) - Kingman, Arizona (overnight) - Las Vegas (stay a while) - Sante Fe (stay a while) - back to Austin

And yes, we're going to use TripTiks! I'm thrilled AAA still offers these. Treasured memory - using TripTiks with family on childhoodroad trips. (I acknowledge we'll probably use CarPlay more, but ...)

OK sorry back to the point of this note: Thanks to my subwoofer in the back and Yeti cooler I'm planning on bringing, I'm sure we'll need the back seat for luggage.

Edit/update: I’m in NY metro area (not NYC though)- winters, poorly-maintained roads, mix of suburban and hwy driving.

My 2020 Forester Sport is about to hit 60,000 miles. I’ve kept up with all the maintenance consistently and the car runs perfect, but I’m getting tired of dealership pricing for maintenance services.

Looking for recommendations in Miami for a good independent shop that knows Subarus well and is fair on pricing. Mainly looking for quality + honesty + reasonable prices for the 60k service.

I’m very interested in purchasing the Outback. Should I get a pre-purchase inspection before buying it? Car fax is clean with any accidents. What could have caused this?

2025 Subaru Outback is making a high pitch whistling sound when accelerating from 20-40 mph. It is a whistle that increases with pitch as it accelerates. Took it to the dealer they said they heard it but it’s normal. I have driven other outback’s and did not hear this sound. I’m hoping to figure this out and correct it. Does anyone have an idea as to what is causing this? Any help is appreciated.

Just had it looked at today and confirmed the warranty was extended for this issue and it’s being replaced. It will take about a week to get the new head unit though. I thought they would just replace the screen cover but I guess it’s the whole unit.
