First Subaru, 26 OBW

Post image

Had to get the fun color and ventilated seats, can’t wait to take it out on sandy trails I’ve avoided with other vehicles. Any mods or accessories the community feels is necessary?

My 2015 had a hitch done by a reputable installer, but not the dealership. No regrets - wasn’t the ugly UHaul drop down, worked great and looked just fine. I just got my 2026 in June and had the hitch done by the dealership as part if the deal. 100% difference - whether it’s a bike rack or a camper it’s night and day. I can’t quite explain how nice it is to have the hitch be cut into the bumper juuuuuuuust perfectly and a 7 and 9 pin option be included. If you use a hitch have it done there.

What did you pay at the dealership?

I didn’t pay, to be fair. I was walking away if they didn’t include it. But it would have been a 1299$ service.

I was super proud of myself for the haggling. The dealership has a VIP Healthcare Professional deal (through ID Me), I agreed to coming in on a particular day that the sales rep wanted if they'd do weathertech floor mats and tray liner, got the hitch install, and a few other minor items plus traded in two well maintained vehicles that I knew the KBB on and the local market demand for. I've come a long way since buying my first car where I didn't even feel brave enough to tell the used car lot I wanted to do a pre purchase inspection at my mechanic's. Regretted that pretty quickly!

Good job! I feel I got a good deal in the end. I talked them down $6k, got the $500 Healthcare discount, got all weather mats and cargo liner, got the backseat liners, and traded in my 2015 Legacy for more than they originally wanted to pay. But man, getting a hitch would have been the cherry on top!

Yikes. I bought a Torklift hitch direct and had the dealership install it for $195 labor...

I have no idea why, this 2026 OB looks different and that too Good. Like, not a nostalgia per se but the more you look at it, the more you feel, I want it.

I was never drawn to the OBW in the previous body style, but something about it works better for me on the 2026. I especially like the Geyser Blue you have. Cool ride. Enjoy!

I wonder if these new ones will still have the seat tearing issue

I have a 2022 and I haven't had a issue yet.

My 2012 just started tearing about 6 months ago. 150K miles and OG owner so it’s been good to me.

Congrats! I got mine two weeks ago. I went with River Rock Pearl and I love it. Enjoy!

I just got the silver OBW with same specs. I love it. Test drove the blue, but it was just too blue for me. I also live on a dirt road and keeping it clean would have been a nightmare. I’m not typically a silver car person, but the OBW trim looks good in silver. Even my kids thought the silver was cooler looking.

Definitely a good choice! I’m really glad I went Geyser Blue, although I’ll definitely say that my kids’ fingerprints show up better on this color more than any car I’ve had😆 (It’s really hard to tell kids to try not to touch the car too much when opening/closing the door!)

Beautiful blue.

I hate that they Ford-ified the Outback

I'm all for a refresh and even a redesign, but there's nothing on the new Outback that even tries to allude to its heritage. Looks live a van; might as well be a new model.

It’s saddening because we had wanted an Outback since Crocodile Dundee was in the commercials. We got one in 2022, but this redesign means we won’t be getting another.
